Chapter 45 - CHAPTER 45

The Sharingan, one of the most refined kekkei genkai of the Uchiha clan, allows the user to observe chakra flow, predict movements, and rapidly copy ninjutsu by reconstructing hand seals through visual perception. In principle, aside from techniques tied to unique bloodline limits or certain high-level forbidden arts, it can replicate almost any ninjutsu after seeing it once. This is precisely why Kakashi Hatake is known in Konoha as the "Copy Ninja," having used his implanted Sharingan to mimic over a thousand techniques during his ANBU years.

The Rasengan, an A-rank, shape-transformation-only technique created by the Fourth Hokage Namikaze Minato, does not require hand seals but demands extreme chakra control and dense chakra output. Even Kakashi Hatake admitted it took him years of trial and error to partially master it after Minato's death. With her three-tomoe Sharingan and prior experience copying Kakashi's techniques, Chinatsu could reconstruct the structure of the Rasengan instantly. However, she still preferred the Chidori.

The reason was simple: it looked cooler.

To fully stabilize the Rasengan, one needs precise chakra volume and sustained rotational control. Chinatsu estimated her chakra reserves at roughly three to four times Kakashi Hatake's baseline level, which in normal circumstances would be sufficient but the Rasengan's continuous compression and instability made it inefficient for her combat style, especially compared to lightning techniques she had already been developing through Kakashi's guidance.

Jiraiya looked at the Rasengan forming in Chinatsu's hand, then at his own, his expression twitching uncontrollably.

The Sharingan is absolutely cheating!!!

"Ahem, ahem… since you've already grasped the essence of my technique, why not become my disciple?" Jiraiya coughed, shamelessly pressing the offer again.

Chinatsu looked at him with a completely indifferent expression. After a long silence, she finally exhaled.

"I'm not suitable to be your disciple, and you're not suitable to be my teacher. Let's leave it at that," she said flatly.

Although she had once admired Jiraiya from her previous-life memories and even respected his role as one of the Sannin alongside Tsunade and Orochimaru, the current situation was different. Sage Mode training, summoning toads of Mount Myōboku, and his chaotic teaching style were all things she had no intention of binding herself to. She already had her own development path: Sharingan evolution, Wood Release experimentation, and stolen Konoha ninjutsu growth.

Jiraiya stared at her, lips twitching as he mentally prepared a long persuasive speech… then slowly deleted it all.

Forget it.

Sarutobi-sensei… this is not my fault. If she refuses, I can't exactly drag her into Mount Myōboku.

His intention to recruit Chinatsu had indeed come from Hiruzen Sarutobi, who hoped Jiraiya would guide her morally and indirectly restrain any instability stemming from her Uchiha identity and unknown Wood Release capabilities. Unfortunately, the plan was already failing.

Jiraiya sighed.

Chinatsu, meanwhile, had already turned away and entered the Konoha bathhouse. Less than a minute later, she walked out again.

"…What did you go in there for?" Jiraiya asked suspiciously.

"To remind them to reinforce security," Chinatsu replied calmly. "There are perverts around."

"......"

Jiraiya froze.

This girl is ruthless.

He scratched his head, not really angry in fact, oddly impressed. Most people would either be intimidated by the name "Legendary Sannin" or flustered in front of him. She, however, treated him like a nuisance that needed surveillance.

Still unwilling to give up, Jiraiya stepped forward again.

"You really should reconsider "

But Chinatsu had already vanished from his sight using a Body Flicker Technique.

"......"

Back at the Uchiha residence, Chinatsu collapsed onto the sofa, staring at the ceiling. For once, she felt a faint sense of regret about walking away without properly closing the conversation. Not because she wanted to become Jiraiya's disciple but because it might have been useful to maintain that connection for future intelligence gathering.

That lingering thought likely came from the remnants of the original Uchiha Chinatsu persona, combined with her current transmigrator mindset that constantly analyzed value and risk.

She rolled over on the sofa.

Lately, she felt increasingly… unstable. As if she was no longer just one identity, but something being reshaped.

Should she be worried about that… or satisfied?

Her thoughts drifted again to the strange dream from yesterday the vast sea, the wooden boat, and the girl who looked exactly like her, yet carried an entirely different aura. The three swords at her waist, the overwhelming presence…

Could that be another world? Not Naruto… but something like One Piece?

 Chinatsu muttered softly to herself.

If another "me" exists in that world… I'm actually a little jealous.

But jealousy alone won't change anything.

She exhaled and sat up.

I just need to get stronger.

Setting aside ninjutsu temporarily, Chinatsu made a new decisionshe would attempt to evolve her Sharingan further, from three-tomoe into the Mangekyō Sharingan.

According to Uchiha clan records, the evolution requires extreme emotional trauma and a surge of negative chakra similar to how Sasuke awakened his Sharingan after witnessing the massacre of his clan, or how Obito Uchiha broke through his limits after Rin Nohara's death, skipping normal progression entirely under overwhelming psychological collapse.

 Chinatsu closed her eyes.

She prepared herself.

Chakra reserves: sufficient. Physical condition: stable. Mental resilience: above average.

Only one thing was missing.

Negative energy.

She began recalling everything painful from her past life, forcing her mind into darker and darker corners.

Age 5.

She fell from an escalator in a department store, landing hard near the stair edge. The injury near her eyebrow required multiple stitches, leaving her half-blinded for weeks.

Age 8.

She woke up at night to go to the bathroom and made direct eye contact with a burglar who had entered through her window.

Age 12.

While visiting relatives in the countryside, she was unexpectedly struck on the ankle during a "playful" stick fight that somehow escalated into martial-arts-level chaos.

Age 13.

She was chased half a neighborhood by two unleashed dogs, running for her life while neighbors watched.

Age 18.

She bought her first collectible figurines with her own savings, only for relatives to "inspect" them by handling and mocking her hobby during a visit.

......

As she recalled these memories, her eyebrows twitched repeatedly, her lips tightening more and more. The surrounding air seemed to grow heavier, as if chakra itself was being contaminated by emotional instability.

If negative energy could be seen, it would have already swallowed her entire consciousness.

Whether it was working or not, she couldn't tell but it genuinely hurt.

 Chinatsu suddenly opened her eyes.

"I'm not a masochist!!!"
