Chapter 160 - Fitting

Maya felt cold. It was strange how cold she felt. It was even stranger because she didn't feel cold—not usually. Not this sort of cold that seeped into her bones.

Even in the dark, she had clearly seen it. The way he jumped over her hand as she tried to touch him to get him to look at her. 

She had badly wanted to reach him, to explain herself, and through the pain, she had stretched out her bleeding hand—and he just jumped over it.

He had certainly seen her alright. There was no doubt about that in her mind.

The words dried on her lips as she pulled her hand back. He wasn't going to listen. He was leaving her while she was bleeding on the floor.

She heard the sound of the door shutting, but it sounded far away. Her hand fell to her side as she lay on her back, but the pain didn't even register. All she felt was the overwhelming coldness.

"So cold," she whimpered but the words barely passed her lips as she shivered.
