Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

The old mansion had stood vacant for decades, its grandeur and beauty slowly being consumed by the passing of time. The once-manicured lawn was overgrown with weeds, the paint was chipped and faded, and the windows were cloudy with grime. But it was the strange noises that kept the locals away - whispers in the dead of night, creaks and groans that sounded like footsteps, and the occasional, unexplainable chill that seemed to seep from the very walls themselves.

Ravi, a curious and adventurous journalist, had always been fascinated by the mansion's dark history. Rumors swirled that it was built by a wealthy and reclusive industrialist, who had made his fortune through dubious means. The story went that the industrialist's family had been cursed, and one by one, they had met with tragic and gruesome ends. The mansion had been abandoned ever since, a testament to the evil that lurked within its walls.

Ravi pushed open the creaking gate and stepped onto the overgrown path, the crunch of gravel beneath his feet echoing through the silence. He had convinced his editor to let him investigate the mansion, hoping to uncover the truth behind the strange occurrences. As he approached the entrance, he noticed that the front door was slightly ajar, as if someone - or something - had recently passed through it.

He pushed the door open, calling out, "Hello? Is anyone there?" The echo of his voice was the only response. Ravi stepped inside, his eyes adjusting to the dim light. The air was thick with dust, and cobwebs cl clung to the walls. He frowned, wondering if he had made a mistake.

As he explored the mansion, Ravi stumbled upon a room that seemed frozen in time. A dining table was set for dinner, complete with fine china and crystal glasses. But it was the photograph on the wall that caught his attention - a family portrait, with the industrialist and his family, all smiling and happy. Ravi felt a shiver run down his spine as he realized that this was the family that had been cursed.

Suddenly, he heard a faint whispering in his ear, "Get out while you still can." Ravi spun around, but there was no one there. He tried to shake off the feeling of unease, telling himself it was just the wind. But the whispering grew louder, more urgent. "Get out while you still can."

Ravi turned to leave, but the door slammed shut, trapping him inside. The room grew colder, the shadows deepening into dark, twisted shapes. Ravi tried to scream, but his voice was trapped in his throat. The whispers turned to laughter, a cacophony of evil, mirthless laughter that seemed to come from all around him.

And then, the lights flickered and died.

Ravi awoke to the sound of his own screams, his heart racing with terror. He was lying on the floor, the room bathed in an eerie, flickering light. He scrambled to his feet, desperate to escape. But as he reached the door, he saw the words scrawled on the wall in blood - "You'll never leave."

Panic set in, Ravi frantically searched for a way out. He stumbled through the dark, twisting corridors, the laughter and whispers growing louder with every step. He could feel the presence closing in around him, the evil that lurked within the walls.

Finally, he saw a glimmer of light - a door, slightly ajar. Ravi burst through it, slamming it shut behind him. He leaned against the door, gasping for breath. But as he looked around, he realized he was back in the dining room, the family portrait staring back at him.

And then, the lights went out.

When the police found Ravi the next morning, he was curled up in a ball, his eyes frozen with terror. He never spoke again, confined to a mental institution, his mind shattered by the horrors he had faced in the mansion.

The mansion stood vacant once more, its secrets locked within its walls. But on quiet nights, you could still hear the whispers, the laughter, and the footsteps, echoing through the empty halls. And if you listened closely, you'd hear Ravi's screams, trapped forever in the darkness.

The darkness closed in, the shadows twisted and writhed, and the whispers grew louder - "You'll never leave." 😱
