The plates sat mostly empty on the low table in front of the sofa, but none of them moved to clear them. Stan kept his arms wrapped securely around both women, their warm bodies pressed against his sides and thighs.
Sophie's head rested on his shoulder, her fingers lazily tracing patterns on his chest through the open front of his shirt. Maya had one leg draped over his, her hand resting high on his other thigh, occasionally giving a gentle squeeze.
The morning light filtered softly through the curtains, painting everything in a golden, contented glow.
For a while they simply existed like that, trading slow kisses, soft laughter, and quiet words about how perfect the night and morning had felt.
But eventually Stan let out a slow breath, his voice low and reluctant.
"I hate to ruin the mood," he said, pressing a kiss to the top of Sophie's head, then Maya's. "But I have to leave soon. I've got an important meeting this afternoon… and some business that won't wait."
