Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: A Terrifying Skill Combination

If a Pokémon wants to experience a qualitative leap in strength within a short period, aside from evolution, the most effective way is to spend a fortune hiring elite sparring partners registered with the Pokémon League for daily, comprehensive guidance.

The former is often beyond one's control, while the latter requires considerable financial resources. Of course, there is one other method: allowing a Pokémon to learn a move of significant power in a short amount of time.

However, every Pokémon's talent and aptitude are different, and the time required to master a skill varies. Some possess such poor aptitude that they simply cannot learn certain moves at all.

Yet, technology changes destiny. In recent years, as Technical Machines developed by world-class conglomerates like Silph Co. and Devon Corporation have gradually entered the lives of the public, it seems that teaching Pokémon new skills is no longer as difficult as it once was.

Of course, a Technical Machine doesn't allow a Pokémon to master a skill instantly. It merely plants a seed within the Pokémon's mind, which then continuously inspires them over time, significantly accelerating the process of learning and mastering the move.

Because of this, Pokémon with excellent talent learn much faster, while those with lesser aptitude can finally master powerful skills that were previously beyond their reach.

The price of a Technical Machine varies wildly depending on the move's power and rarity. Some rare and terrifyingly powerful TMs are expensive enough to bankrupt even wealthy families.

TMs with a power rating of 10 to 30 cost between 10,000 and 30,000 Poké Dollars. Those between 35 and 60 power are priced between 50,000 and 100,000. For moves with 65 to 80 power, the price jumps to 150,000 to 300,000,

while those in the 85 to 95 range go for 400,000 to 900,000. Any move with a power rating over 100 is never sold directly; they can only be obtained through auctions or as rewards for winning major championships.

A Sneasel would naturally master Night Slash a Dark-type godly move after evolving into Weavile. However, if the Sneasel possesses exceptional talent and is supported by scientific and diligent training, it can master the move ahead of time.

Hisoka sat in his armchair, looking at the two objects in his hand that resembled glowing discs, roughly ten centimeters in diameter. These were Technical Machines. One was for Ice Punch, and the other was for Swords Dance.

The former had cost him 350,000 Poké Dollars. The official power rating for Ice Punch was 75, but because of its practical effects and broad coverage especially against Dragon-type Pokémon the price of an Ice Punch TM was even higher than those with a power rating of 80.

Swords Dance, a status move that significantly boosts physical attack, was a favorite among many trainers. Used correctly, it could allow the weak to defeat the strong or even sweep an entire opposing team. Its market price was 250,000.

In the blink of an eye, 600,000 Poké Dollars had vanished like water, but Hisoka felt no regret. Money was meant to be spent, especially when it came to enhancing his team's strength. He knew that only by becoming stronger could he earn even more money.

Although Sneasel possessed the Ice attribute, it could not learn Ice Punch naturally; it could only be learned through long-term training or a TM. The same applied to Swords Dance.

Hisoka first took the Ice Punch TM and inserted it into his laptop's drive. Then, he placed the Ultra Ball containing Sneasel into the groove on top of the laptop. Using a TM was very convenient. Not only could they be used in the transmission machines at a Pokémon Center, but any high-end computer priced above 8,000 Poké Dollars could also perform the data transfer.

He clicked the "Yes" button on the desktop, and the data transfer began. 1%, 5%, 25%... 85%, 99%!

The four moves Hisoka had planned for Sneasel's primary rotation were Night Slash, Ice Punch, Brick Break, and Swords Dance. These three offensive moves covered eleven attributes: Ghost, Psychic, Dragon, Flying, Grass, Ground, Normal, Rock, Steel, Ice, and Dark,

providing double damage against all of them. This coverage was nothing short of terrifying. If Sneasel managed to set up with Swords Dance, her incredible speed would allow her to dismantle almost any team composition.

Granted, this was the ideal scenario, but even just thinking about it now made Hisoka's heart race with excitement!
