Kai's eyes snapped open.
The first thing he noticed wasn't the sterile white of a hospital or the comforting hum of a fan it was sunlight, dappled and golden, filtering through trees taller than any he had ever seen. The air smelled of earth, wildflowers, and something… unusual, almost electric.
He sat up slowly, heart pounding. His body ached in ways he didn't understand muscles stiff, skin scratched but he was alive. And he wasn't alone.
Rion and Lira were lying a few feet away, unconscious. Relief flooded him, but so did panic.
"Rion! Lira!" he shouted, his voice trembling. No answer. He ran to them, shaking them gently.
Lira stirred first, coughing as she blinked at the sunlight. "Kai…?" Her voice was hoarse, weak.
"I'm here, Lira," Kai said, pulling her to her feet. "You're okay. We're okay… I think."
Rion groaned and sat up, massaging his head. "Where… where are we?"
Kai's stomach dropped. "I don't know. There's… nothing familiar. Just trees, grass, mountains… it's like we're somewhere else entirely."
The forest around them was alive in strange ways. Leaves shimmered with colors Kai had never seen deep blues, purples, and golden streaks. The grass swayed even without wind, and the sound of distant birds or something like birds echoed with odd, melodic cries. Mist curled around the tree trunks, thick but shimmering, like it was catching light from somewhere unseen.
Lira's eyes widened. "This isn't… any place on Earth. I've never seen anything like this."
Kai nodded, gripping his sister's shoulder. "I know. But we stick together. No matter what."
Rion rubbed his face, looking both scared and excited. "This is insane… but if we're alive, maybe we can find out what happened."
A sudden rustling in the underbrush made them freeze. Kai's instincts kicked in; he moved in front of his siblings. "Stay back. Whatever it is… I don't want to fight unless we have to."
From the shadows, a small creature emerged not a deer, not any animal Kai recognized. It had glowing amber eyes, fur that shifted colors like the forest itself, and long delicate limbs. It tilted its head at them, curiosity shining in its gaze rather than aggression.
Lira whispered, "It's… beautiful…"
The creature made a soft, musical sound and disappeared as quickly as it appeared, vanishing into the shimmer of the forest.
Kai exhaled slowly. "We're not alone here. But… I don't think it's dangerous… at least, not yet."
They walked carefully, each step cautious as they ventured deeper into the unknown forest. Every leaf, every branch, seemed alive with a subtle energy. Sunlight poured in through the canopy in beams, lighting their path, but the forest stretched endlessly, with no signs of roads or civilization.
Hours passed or maybe minutes. Time felt… different.
At a small clearing, Kai stopped and turned to his siblings. "We'll need a plan. We can't just wander aimlessly. We need food, water, shelter… and a way to figure out where we are."
Rion rubbed his stomach. "Food? I haven't eaten since the flight."
Lira glanced around, eyes sharp. "Water… over there," she said, pointing to a glimmering stream that reflected colors like liquid jewels.
Kai nodded. "Good. First, we survive. Then, we find answers."
They crouched by the stream, drinking carefully. The water was cool, refreshing, almost alive. Lira reached out, touching a small leaf by the edge. It shimmered in her fingers, tiny sparks of light dancing across its surface.
"Whatever world this is… it's different," she murmured.
Kai wrapped his arms around both siblings. "We'll face it together. No matter what comes, we stick together."
For the first time since the crash, a tiny sense of hope bloomed among the fear. They were alive. They were together. And now… the real journey began.
