Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Execution and Awakening

The morning sun barely touched the palace walls when Liora's life ended—or so she thought. Bound by coarse ropes and dragged toward the execution platform, she could feel the cold stares of the gathered nobles pressing against her back like a physical weight. Her heart pounded violently in her chest. Each step echoed on the cobblestones, a grim countdown to her demise.

"The infamous villainess," the executioner sneered, "finally meets her end."

Liora tried to speak, tried to protest, but her voice was swallowed by the roar of the crowd. Fear gnawed at her, but more than fear, there was confusion. Confusion because… this didn't feel like her body. Her limbs were unfamiliar, her reflection in the polished sword of the executioner revealed someone she didn't recognize—someone cruel, scorned, infamous.

And then it hit her. Memories not her own rushed in like a flood. This was not her life. She wasn't Liora from her past world. She had… been reborn.

Her vision blurred, and the sound of the crowd dulled. Time seemed to slow as the executioner raised his axe. A surge of panic—no, determination—filled her. She had one chance.

Bang!

A sudden crack split the air, and the executioner stumbled backward, clutching his head. Gasps erupted across the platform. Liora's heart leapt. She didn't know who had done it, but the moment was hers. She seized the ropes and twisted violently, breaking free from her bindings.

The platform was chaos. Nobles screamed, guards scrambled, and in the confusion, Liora fled. She ran blindly through corridors she had never seen before, yet somehow instinct guided her. Every corner, every shadow whispered danger. The palace was alive with enemies—and she had no allies.

Finally, she ducked into a quiet chamber, breathing hard. Her hands shook, but her mind was clear. She was alive. She was here. And she was… the villainess.

Her new reflection stared back at her from a cracked mirror. High cheekbones, sharp eyes, lips curved in a natural disdain—this was the woman history hated. This was the woman who had been executed. And now, she held the reins of a second chance in her trembling hands.

But there was no time to mourn or marvel. The sound of approaching footsteps forced her back into the shadows. She pressed herself against the wall, holding her breath. A tall figure passed, cloaked in the deep blue of the royal guard. Her sharp eyes caught a glimmer of gold at his collar.

The Crown Prince.

He was silent, expression unreadable, yet every step he took seemed to echo a judgment. Liora felt a shiver run down her spine. She didn't know if he was friend or foe, but one thing was certain: her life—and perhaps her heart—was now entangled with him.

As he disappeared down the corridor, she allowed herself a single thought: survive.

No one had to know who she really was—not yet.

But survival alone would not be enough. To navigate this palace, she would need cunning, courage, and perhaps… luck.

And so, her second life began.
