Chapter 6 - Bab 6

The kiss deepened, shifting from a desperate assertion of dominance into a relentless, consuming hunger. David's lips possessed hers with an urgent, bruising pressure that left no room for hesitation or doubt. His mouth molded over hers, tasting of the sharp bite of scotch and the undeniable heat of a jealousy that had simmered into madness all day. Ivy gasped against his mouth, a soft, helpless sound that only served to fuel the fire raging through his veins. Her body, which had spent weeks rigid with grief and the cold burden of maintaining a semblance of normalcy, melted under the sheer intensity of his touch.

His large, calloused hands, which had previously held her at arm's length with stiff, overcorrected boundaries, now spanned her waist with a proprietary grip. The heat of his palms scorched right through the thin cotton of her tank top, branding her skin and sending a violent shiver cascading down her spine. Every muscle in her body turned to liquid, her fierce defiance evaporating the moment his thumbs traced the soft curve of her hips, pulling her flush against the solid wall of his chest. She could feel the erratic, heavy thud of his heart—a frantic rhythm matching her own—and the heavy press of his muscular frame reminding her just how small and utterly defenseless she was against him.

"David..." she managed to breathe out, her voice a fractured whisper against his lips as he broke the kiss for a fraction of a second, only to bury his face in the sensitive crook of her neck.

"Don't talk," David growled, his voice a low, gravelly vibration that reverberated straight through her chest. His lips brushed against the racing pulse point beneath her ear, planting a hot, lingering kiss that made her knees buckle. "Don't say anything to ruin this, Ivy. I've spent every waking moment of today going insane thinking about you out there, thinking about other men looking at what belongs to me."

The word hung in the air, heavy and absolute. Belongs to me. It wasn't the language of a guardian, nor was it the protective concern of a father figure. It was the primal declaration of a man claiming his mate, stripped of all societal rules, moral codes, and familial pretenses. And instead of terrifying her, the realization sent a fierce, wicked thrill rushing through Ivy's veins. She didn't want to belong to the world outside. She didn't want the casual, empty flirtations of boys like Arlo on campus. She wanted this dark, suffocating, entirely consuming obsession. She wanted David, with all his flaws, his guilt, and his overwhelming dominance.

Her hands, which had initially been clenched in weak protest against his chest, crept upward. Her fingers curled into the thick hair at the nape of his neck, tangling in the dark strands as she pulled him down closer, arching her body into his. The gesture was all the permission David needed.

With a low groan that sounded more like a growl of surrender to his own demons, David scooped her off her feet. Ivy gasped, wrapping her legs instinctively around his narrow waist as her arms locked tightly around his neck. He didn't break the kiss; he carried her effortlessly away from the front hallway, his heavy footsteps thudding against the polished floorboards as he marched with single-minded purpose toward the master bedroom down the corridor—the very room he had shared with her mother, now repurposed into the epicenter of their forbidden undoing.

The room was shadowed in the dying light of the late afternoon, the heavy curtains casting long, dim patterns across the king-sized bed. David didn't bother turning on the lights. He kicked the door shut behind them with a resounding thud that echoed in the quiet house, sealing them off from reality.

He laid her down on the mattress, his large frame following her down instantly, trapping her beneath him like a predator claiming its prize. The mattress dipped under his weight, but Ivy didn't feel any fear—only a wild, intoxicating rush of adrenaline. She looked up at him through her lashes, her chest heaving, the oversized tank top having ridden up to expose the smooth, creamy expanse of her stomach.

David propped himself up on one elbow, his other hand coming up to cup her flushed face. His thumb traced her lower lip, parting them with a slow, deliberate pressure. His eyes were dark, burning with a mix of fierce possessiveness and an agonizing vulnerability that mirrored her own pain.

"Look at me, Ivy," he whispered, his voice trembling slightly. "Tell me you don't want this. Tell me to walk away right now, and I will."

It was a test, a final fragile barrier of conscience before he crossed the point of no return. Ivy looked up into those familiar, kind eyes that had comforted her through the worst days of her grief, eyes that now burned with a dark, sinful hunger. She reached out, her fingertips tracing the sharp line of his jaw, feeling the slight stubble that shadowed his skin.

"I can't," Ivy whispered back, her voice laced with a raw, honest confession that shattered whatever remained of their restraint. "I don't want you to walk away, David. I don't care anymore. Just... take me."

The dam broke.

David crushed his mouth down onto hers once more, this time with a desperate, frantic hunger that bordered on savage. The tentative boundaries they had danced around for months vanished entirely. His hand slid down from her face, tracing the slope of her neck, moving over her collarbone, and hooking under the thin fabric of her tank top. With a swift, efficient movement, he tugged the fabric upward, baring her upper body to his hungry gaze and the cool air of the room.

Ivy gasped at the sudden exposure, her hands flying instinctively to cover herself out of sheer reflex, but David gently yet firmly caught her wrists, pinning her hands to the mattress above her head with one large, warm hand.

"No," he murmured against her skin, his voice thick with awe and raw desire as his eyes roved over her trembling form. "Let me look at you. Let me know you're real."

His gaze was heavy, scorching every inch of her skin. The curves of her body, softened by youth and accentuated by the stress of the past few months, lay exposed beneath him. To David, she wasn't just a woman; she was a masterpiece born of tragedy and longing, a forbidden fruit he had tortured himself by denying for months.

Lowering his head, David pressed a hot, open-mouthed kiss against the hollow of her throat, right where her pulse thrummed wildly. Ivy arched off the mattress with a sharp intake of breath, her fingers clutching uselessly at his grip on her wrists before she realized she didn't want to fight him. She twisted her hands free, wrapping her arms around his broad shoulders instead, pulling him down harder against her, desperate to feel every inch of his solid, masculine weight.

David's breathing grew ragged as his lips traced a fiery path down from her jaw, across her collarbone, and down to the sensitive skin just above her chest. Every touch of his tongue, every scrape of his teeth against her sensitive flesh, drew soft, breathless moans from Ivy's lips. She felt as though she were burning from the inside out, every nerve ending in her body hyper-sensitized, acutely aware of the heavy friction of his clothes against her bare skin.

"David, please..." she whimpered, her hips shifting restlessly beneath him, seeking a friction that could quench the sudden, unbearable ache pooling deep in her core.

"I'm here," he panted, lifting his head to look down at her, his face flushed, his hair damp with sweat from the intensity of his emotions. "I've got you, Ivy. You're mine."

He lowered his mouth back to hers, capturing her cry of surrender in a deep, consuming kiss as his free hand slid down her body, bunching up the material of her cargo pants and slipping past the waistband. The touch of his rough, calloused fingers against the sensitive skin of her thighs made her gasp into his mouth, her entire body tensing with a sweet, agonizing shock.

The room around them faded away. The memory of her mother, the heavy silence of the house, the guilt of the tragic accident that had brought them together—all of it dissolved into nothingness, replaced entirely by the heat of their bodies and the rhythmic, pounding cadence of their synchronized breathing.

David's movements became more urgent, stripped of any lingering hesitation. He shifted his weight, his large body pressing her deeper into the mattress as he worked to rid them of the remaining barriers between them. Every touch was an unspoken vow, a dark, desperate pact sealed in the shadows of the afternoon.

Ivy stared up into his dark, intense eyes as he loomed over her, the embodiment of everything she shouldn't have wanted, yet the only thing she truly needed in the world. She reached up, cupping his face, pulling him down for one more searing, breathless kiss before letting herself fall completely over the edge into the storm they had conjured together.

In that quiet, isolated room, wrapped in the arms of the man who was supposed to be her guardian, Ivy found a strange, fierce peace. The world outside could condemn them, time could pass, and the guilt might eventually return to haunt them in the cold light of morning, but for now, they were drowning together in the sweet, inescapable prison of each other's embrace.
