In the 48th year since the founding of Konoha, on the tenth of October, in the district reserved for the Uchiha clan.
The night was pitch black, and silence wrapped everything in its embrace. A full moon hung at the center of the sky, pouring its silvery light over the earth like a shimmering veil.
A crow glided across the sky, then landed on the roof of a two-story wooden house on the outskirts of the Uchiha district.
But the roof was already occupied by a strange gathering of animals: three wild cats of different colors, two sleek black rats with glossy fur a short distance away, five crows, an owl, and a small white snake.
The truly bizarre and unsettling part was that these animals were coexisting in perfect peace. The cats did not pounce on the rats, the owl did not hunt the snake; they all sat motionless on the roof as if waiting for something.
Below the roof, in one of the second-floor rooms, a boy sat cross-legged on a tatami mat. A thin beam of moonlight slipped through the window and fell across him.
This boy was Uchiha Rin, a fifth-year student at the Ninja Academy.
Absolute silence filled the room. Even a professional ninja would have found it utterly impossible to sense Rin's presence or his chakra.
As usual, this night was supposed to be calm and ordinary like any other.
But suddenly, a blood-curdling scream and a thunderous roar shattered the night's stillness, jolting the entire village of Konoha awake in terror.
Instantly, every ninja in Konoha felt the emergence of a tyrannical, violent aura—like a devastating earthquake.
Inside the room, a gentle breeze suddenly stirred. It quickly spiraled into a small whirlwind spinning rapidly around its center—Rin himself.
At that moment, a strange phenomenon occurred: the moonlight appeared to bend and fracture around his body.
Then, just as suddenly, the wind vanished.
Rin opened his eyes. The room was instantly flooded with brilliant light as two beams shot from his eyes, which now gleamed like rare, dazzling jewels.
"This ominous chakra… It's the Kyuubi," Rin muttered in a low voice laced with complex emotions. He could clearly sense the terrifying, rage-filled, savage chakra that now blanketed all of Konoha.
According to the predetermined path of fate, the Night of the Kyuubi had begun.
The glow in Rin's eyes gradually faded. From his unique perspective, he could see a mist of colorful glowing particles forming and scattering around him.
These particles were what the ninja world called "natural energy."
At the same time, a personal status screen that only he could see appeared before his eyes:

In truth, Rin was a reincarnated soul. In his previous life, he had been a software developer working on a ninja-inspired video game. After days of exhausting overtime and sleepless nights, his vision had suddenly gone black. When he woke up again, he was a newborn baby in the Uchiha clan.
Soon afterward, the character status screen from the very game he had been developing appeared before him, along with a special welcome reward. Inside that reward was the ultimate secret technique he had just finished designing before his death—the technique he was now training in: "Supreme Sage Evolution".
Suddenly, the sound of rapid footsteps echoed, and the door burst open violently. A beautiful woman with disheveled hair rushed in, her face filled with panic.
"Rin! The Kyuubi has attacked the village! We have to get to the emergency shelter right now!"
In her arms she held a small, sleepy girl. They were his family in this life—his mother, Uchiha Rei, and his little sister, Uchiha Izumi.
His father, a shinobi who had married into the clan, had been killed in the war several years earlier.
Izumi, who had just woken up, rubbed her eyes drowsily. When she saw her brother, she called out in a soft voice: "Big brother…"
Rin smiled gently and patted her head. "Izumi, don't be afraid. Big brother is here. I will always protect you and Mom."
"Okay! Izumi won't be scared!"
The family of three hurried out of the district. All around them, Uchiha clan members were running in panic and confusion.
"Look! That's the Kyuubi!"
The moment they left the district, they froze in shock. In the distance loomed a monstrous beast the size of a mountain, its nine enormous tails thrashing across the horizon. Amid deafening crashes and explosions, the Kyuubi was rampaging through the village in a frenzy.
"Commander!"
"Oh, it's Rei. Take the children and head to the village shelter immediately."
Rin turned toward the voice. At the district gate stood a large group of fully armed Uchiha men. Clan leader Uchiha Fugaku was leading the military police force, ready to deploy and help stop the Kyuubi's rampage.
Just then, with the sound of swift movement, more than ten shadowy figures suddenly appeared and surrounded the area.
"By order of Lord Danzo, no member of the Uchiha Police Force is permitted to leave headquarters even one step!"
A squad of masked Root ANBU ninjas stood facing the Uchiha Police, all of them in full combat readiness. A cold, ruthless aura radiated from them, as if they were ready to strike the instant the Uchiha disobeyed.
"What?!"
"What does the village mean by this?!"
"Is the village doubting the loyalty of the Uchiha clan?!"
Hearing the order steeped in distrust and hostility, the proud Uchiha warriors erupted in fury, shouting in outrage.
Fugaku's expression darkened severely; rage flashed in his eyes.
He knew, day after day, that this stemmed from the village's deep suspicion of the Uchiha—the fear that they would use their Sharingan to seize control of the Kyuubi. The mutual distrust had always lingered in the shadows, but now the village had torn away the veil, openly revealing its complete lack of trust. The rift between them would only grow deeper.
Fugaku stood silent, his face shifting between anger and bewilderment. Behind him, the Uchiha Police glared at Danzo's ANBU with pure hatred.
The ANBU, mere emotionless tools, did not flinch an inch before the terrifying Uchiha aura. Instead, they openly released their killing intent.
In an instant, the atmosphere grew thick with tension, threatening to explode at any second.
"Big brother…"
Little Izumi's face turned pale; terror filled her eyes. She had been struck by the ANBU's killing intent.
Rin quickly took her hand and gently infused her body with calming chakra.
Once her color returned to normal, he turned his cold gaze toward the ANBU ninjas and spoke in a voice dripping with contempt: "Izumi, don't be afraid. These men are nothing but pawns and trash. We Uchiha are always the strongest."
Rin's words rang clearly through the air. The Uchiha Police looked at him with admiration and respect.
In response, though their masks hid their eyes, the ANBU's killing intent surged toward Rin like a crashing wave.
"Rin…" his mother, Uchiha Rei, whispered, watching her son with deep worry and fear.
