Chapter 9 - First Micro-Bee Deployment

Kael decided the time had come for broader reconnaissance. The village offered safety but limited perspective. He needed to understand the larger region.

With Elder Torin's reluctant permission, framed as a "gathering trip," Kael ventured farther with minimal escort.

He activated the remaining micro-bees. Echo controlled deployment while Kael observed from a concealed ridge.

The tiny drones spread out, mapping terrain, settlements, and activity.

Data streamed in. Larger structures in the distance suggested towns or minor sects. Martial practitioners moved with greater power, their Ki signatures brighter.

One bee captured a duel between two advanced fighters. Shockwaves felled trees. Energy blasts scorched earth.

Kael watched, awed and concerned. His current level paled in comparison.

A sudden event unfolded. A vigilant practitioner detected one bee. He launched a Ki-infused projectile. The drone evaded but sustained damage.

"Compromise imminent," Echo warned.

Kael ordered evasive patterns. Several bees transmitted final valuable data before destruction or recall. The loss event underscored the danger of advanced detection.

Remaining feeds revealed trade routes, resource points, and hints of larger conflicts between factions.

Kael recalled the survivors and stored the data. The one-time use nature meant no second chance for scouting.

He returned to the village with new knowledge. The world was bigger and more dangerous than the local settlement suggested.

Elder Torin questioned the trip. Kael shared limited observations, building trust through honesty.

The micro-bee loss served as a lesson. Technology from the old world drew attention when misused. Stealth and integration would prove vital.

Kael reflected on the deployment. It had provided critical intelligence but at the cost of irreplaceable tools.

His path forward required balancing remnants of the past with the realities of the present.

Preparation for deeper engagement with the martial world had begun in earnest.
