Chapter 16 - Pion: Rare

After finishing their fun little adventure, Tora and Scyte stood in front of a massive, cold iron door.

No Name looked at them indifferently.

"You'll need more than just that piece of wood to do this," he said as the armory door slowly opened.

The moment it did, Scyte's eyes widened in awe.

The room was enormous, filled with advanced weapons radiating powerful energy.

There were laser-bladed swords, handheld cannons capable of leveling buildings, and sleek, futuristic armor.

Tora immediately walked toward a special rack.

He grabbed a massive double-bladed axe, its weight immense.

The moment he held it, his presence shifted, his fighter's aura pressing heavily into the air.

"Now this feels right," Tora muttered as he swung the axe, slicing through the air with a sharp whistle.

He glanced back at Scyte.

"Pick something already. Don't choose something weak if you don't want to die on our first mission."

Scyte wandered around the room.

He passed rows of weapons worth more than an entire city, yet none of them caught his interest.

Then, in a messy corner filled with unorganized items, he stopped.

There, lying quietly, was a simple iron scythe.

Its design was plain, a black wooden handle and a curved blade with no decoration at all.

Basic.

Scyte picked it up.

For some reason, it felt familiar, just like the piece of wood he had found in the sewer that night.

"I'll take this one!" Scyte said happily, spinning the scythe with surprising agility.

Tora frowned beneath his blindfold.

"Hah? Seriously? There are weapons here that can slice tanks in half, and you pick that rusty thing?"

Scyte just grinned.

"Hehe, I like simple weapons. Besides, this one feels like a friend."

No Name, who had been silently observing, finally spoke.

"An interesting choice. A weapon is just a tool, what matters is the one who wields it."

"Now prepare yourselves. Your target is in an abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of the city."

.....

After receiving their mission, Tora and Scyte quickly made their way to the designated location.

Upon arrival, they carefully snuck closer and peeked through a dirty window.

Inside, two adults could be seen.

"That's them," Tora whispered.

"One of them has the mysterious briefcase… and the other… why is he dressed like a ninja from a comic book?"

While Tora focused on the targets, Scyte noticed something else in the dark corner.

"Hey, Tora, look over there!" he whispered urgently.

"There's a kid tied up!"

Their instincts kicked in immediately.

They agreed to save the child first before taking the briefcase.

"Alright, here's the plan," Scyte whispered, eyes sparkling.

"You go in first and distract the ninja guy. I'll sneak in from above and free the kid."

Tora smirked, gripping his axe tightly.

"Sounds good. Don't get caught."

BRAAAKK!!

Tora kicked the warehouse door open, causing a loud crash.

"Who's there?!" the man holding the briefcase shouted in panic.

"Just a kid who's about to beat you up!" Tora fired back as he swung his axe toward the ninja.

A fierce battle erupted instantly.

The clash between Tora's axe and the ninja's short blade echoed loudly.

Meanwhile, Scyte leapt down from the roof, landing silently behind the tied-up child.

With a precise swing, his scythe cut through the ropes without harming the kid.

"You're safe! Now let's help Tora!" Scyte said cheerfully.

Turning toward the fight, Scyte narrowed his eyes, focusing.

He tried channeling his energy into his simple scythe.

Suddenly, the blade emitted a sharp aura.

SYAAAT!

He swung from a distance, releasing a fast-moving energy slash toward the ninja.

But the ninja was quick, jumping back just in time to dodge the attack.

Tora, who was about to strike, suddenly stopped.

He looked at Scyte in shock.

"Oi, Scyte! How did you just do that?!"

Scyte tilted his head casually.

"Huh? Just flow your energy into your weapon. It's easy."

Hearing that, Tora grinned.

"If it's that simple, I can do it too!"

He gripped his axe with both hands, channeling all the energy he absorbed from the surroundings.

But it was too much.

Too uncontrolled.

When he swung

BOOOOOOMMM!!!

A massive explosion of energy surged forward, not only obliterating the ninja but also collapsing half of the warehouse into rubble.

Dust filled the air.

The ninja, barely surviving under the debris, coughed violently.

"Ugh… what kind of monsters are you…?" he muttered in horror.

Before he could escape, the temperature suddenly dropped.

No Name appeared out of nowhere within the dust, casually holding the mysterious briefcase.

The masked man was already unconscious behind him.

Without hesitation, No Name grabbed the ninja by the throat and lifted him with one hand.

In his other hand, a swirling mass of dark energy began to form.

"H-how is this possible…?" the ninja gasped.

"Choose," No Name said coldly.

"Obey… or I'll throw this black hole right into your face."

The ninja immediately went limp in fear, nodding desperately at the sight of the small, distorted void in front of him.

As things finally calmed down, Scyte and Tora approached, guiding the rescued child along with them.

"Our boss saved him earlier," they said, pointing at the kid.

"Eh…?"

For once, No Name looked slightly uncertain.

"Hi…?" the child replied awkwardly.
