The fall had no direction.
It was not downward.
It was not forward.
It was… through.
Fragments of worlds tore across Antony's body as if weight and form no longer existed: desert, ice, fire, jungle, shadows.
Voices overlapped.
One deep.
One ethereal.
Laughter.
Darkness.
Impact.
Silence.
Breathing.
Antony's eyes snapped open.
The cave surrounded him.
Wet stone. Cold air. A constant dripping marking time… as if the world had stopped there.
He pushed himself up with effort.
His body ached… but he was not wounded.
That was worse.
He looked at his hands.
They were still his.
But the sensation… wasn't.
"Where am I…?" he muttered.
No answer came.
But something did.
Presence.
It did not walk.
It did not appear.
It manifested.
A figure within impossible shadows.
Antony turned instantly, tense.
"Show yourself."
The figure did not obey.
"The world is moving again," the voice said.
Deep. Ancient. Impossible to locate.
Antony stepped forward.
"Tell me where I am."
"Where you have always been," it replied,
"but could never see."
Silence.
"Your new warriors are no longer asleep."
Antony frowned.
"What warriors?"
The figure did not answer immediately.
"Come…" it continued,
"or everything you remember will turn to dust."
"I'm not moving until you explain what's happening."
A pause.
Long.
Then…
"You're already in motion."
The figure began to fade.
Antony moved quickly.
"Wait!"
Too late.
Gone.
Silence returned.
But not for long.
The cave reacted.
Symbols carved into the walls began to ignite, one by one… as if awakening.
The ground trembled slightly.
Antony turned.
"What…?"
Visions.
Not memories.
Events.
Arlo, standing among ruins, breathing heavily.
Ainara, shattering a layer of ice imprisoning her.
Vahram, surrounded by motionless bodies in a field frozen in time.
Osiris, opening his eyes within a golden sarcophagus.
Yaotl, covered in symbols, awakening in ritual darkness.
Antony did not blink.
"No…" he whispered.
"This isn't the past."
The symbols pulsed harder.
"It's a call."
Antony turned.
The voice.
Again.
But no longer distant.
Closer.
More… present.
"Then I'm not the only one."
"You never were."
The ground before him opened.
Not like a crack.
Like an entrance.
A passage.
Dark.
Deep.
Antony did not hesitate.
He adjusted his sword.
And stepped forward.
Because now he understood something.
This was not an escape.
It was a summons.
And he…
had answered.
