Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: Are Reincarnators All Stepchildren?

It really was a pirate ship, but oh well, as long as I don't die, right? After all, death is hardly a pleasant experience.

Seeing Jean's reaction, 'D' smiled and nodded, leaving behind a "Good luck," before her phantom image vanished.

At this moment, Shiraori also walked up and handed a set of clothes to Jean. Although they were folded, Jean recognized them at a glance; this was the outfit that Jean wore in Genshin Impact.

She used Appraisal to scan them:

[Item Appraisal: Name: Shiraori's Custom Knight Outfit for Jean; Grade: Not Loaded into Grade System; Details: A set custom-made by Shiraori using her own spider silk, including a top, trousers, boots, a cape, and other pieces. Due to the special nature of the material, several other materials were used for coloring, resulting in properties like corrosion resistance, slash resistance, puncture resistance, dirt resistance, and high-speed cleaning.]

Fortunately, she had turned into Jean, since Jean actually wore trousers. If she had turned into Keqing, those silk stockings would have been a bit too stimulating.

After changing into the clothes in the bedroom and looking at herself in the mirror, she saw the main color scheme was white with gold accents, paired with a deep blue cape—she looked heroic and imposing.

The time had come. Following Shiraori's instructions, she operated the room's entrance/exit, walked in, and began her initial journey.

Meanwhile, in a dim room, 'D' had been observing Jean through a surveillance spell, "Good luck, good luck, grow up quickly."

Just then, a woman dressed as a maid appeared behind her and put 'D' in a chokehold, "Lord 'D', whether or not this person can take on the corresponding work in the future is a matter for the future, but right now you need to work! The affairs of the Underworld are piled up like a mountain!"

She then dragged 'D' outside directly. 'D' stretched out a hand toward the screen, shouting hoarsely, "For the sake of my grand plan to slack off, don't make me wait too long!" As a result of hearing her shout, the maid tightened her grip even more.

After walking through the spatial gate and passing through a colorful flash of light, Jean arrived in a hall that looked like a dilapidated building.

At the same time, the top right corner of her view displayed 'Waiting Area.' She didn't recognize the shape of these characters at all, yet she could read them with ease.

Looking around, there were already three figures here, and then people were teleported in one after another.

Not long after, a mechanical voice rang out in mid-air.

[This trial is not an internal Reincarnation Space trial, so settlement rewards will not be calculated in Reincarnation Points, but in universal T-Points.]

Upon hearing this, a multi-person team in the corner began to cheer, and several lone wolves radiating powerful auras also nodded.

[This trial is a multi-participant trial. There are no restrictions on how tasks are completed, and teaming up or competing is allowed. However, Reincarnators are prohibited from harming other participants in any way; violators will be erased.]

By this point, the atmosphere among everyone, including the team from earlier and the few individuals, became strange.

[Finally, everyone, please abide by the rule of not leaking matters related to the Reincarnation Space within the target world. If a Reincarnator violates this, they will also be erased.]

Now even Jean was full of question marks. Wasn't this a trial of the Reincarnation Space? Local Reincarnators were treated like stepchildren, but the Reincarnation Space not treating Reincarnators as humans was an old tradition anyway.

[Background information on the target world and mission objectives will be distributed to each member's terminal. The mission will officially begin in 30 minutes.]

Then, Jean's system popped up a notification before her eyes: 'New mission received.'

[Target World: Unknown. Description: A rare phenomenon of two worlds colliding was observed twenty-four months ago. This collision caused internal damage to both worlds and resulted in their fusion. The specific cause of the collision is unknown, and surrounding worlds have all been affected by the aftermath. To prevent the disaster from expanding, an exploration of the interior of the colliding worlds is being conducted. It has currently been determined that World A is a mid-magic world with a large number of magical beasts, primarily dominated by humans, featuring ancient political structures, and also containing some advanced technology. World B is a low-magic, low-tech world where rare vampire biological individuals exist, generally dominated by humans, with technology at the level of the post-Second Industrial Revolution. The final result of the fusion is unknown, but according to past data, it is common for the mid-magic world to be the dominant one.]

[Mission Objectives: 1. Join the special organization fighting against ■ ■ ■ and obtain special weapon support. (Reward: 100 T-Points, 1 Custom Special Weapon X1, can be taken out.) 2. Kill ■ ■ ■, quantity unlimited. (Reward: Various T-Points, calculated based on the target's strength and kill contribution.)]

---

While studying the mission and observing her surroundings, she realized that a few short lines of text wouldn't take these people so long to read. Excluding the possibility that they were all illiterate, the others' missions might be more complex than hers.

After all, a mission that just involved getting equipment and killing a few things was too crude. In most games, people wouldn't even bother reading the plot for such missions.

However, the "special weapon" point was concerning. It was likely that the targets would be hard to kill without special weapons. She didn't know if her wind would be restricted, as that was her only means of attack for now.

While Jean was looking around, a Little Girl with pink twin-tails caught her eye. She had azure blue eyes and was wearing light, thin equipment similar to a swimsuit, looking around aimlessly.

The moment she saw her, Jean's heart skipped a beat. It wasn't because she was being a pervert, but because Jean remembered this Little Girl from her memory—Milim Nava.

Milim also noticed that Jean was looking at her, and she skipped right over to Jean.

Trying hard to calm her expression, she greeted Milim: "Hello."

"You know me, don't you? No need to deny it, my Dragon Eye can see through the essence of things." She then opened those beautiful eyes wide and stared fixedly at Jean.

"Um..." Before Jean could finish, Milim said to herself: "So that's how it is. You really are an interesting existence. I have a friend who is similar to you, except he didn't turn into a girl, but into a round Slime."

Jean naturally knew who Milim was talking about, but first, she should introduce herself, even though the other party might already know.

"I am Jean, nice to meet you."

"Oh oh oh, I am Milim, I am also happy to meet you. Good luck going forward!" She revealed a brilliant smile, reached out to shake Jean's hand, shook it up and down, and then ran off on her own again.

Although it was happy to be able to communicate with Milim in a friendly manner, Jean's assessment of the danger level of this world had increased by more than just a little bit.

Then, another person walked up and greeted Jean in a frivolous tone: "Yo, miss, is this your first time participating in this activity?"
