"This path I take shall be the path to your destruction, your blood spilt on the ground shall be my ultimate requiem."
PROLOGUE
"If this isn't madness, then what is it?"
In the darkness of the abyss, a lone figure stood in the middle of blood-stained lilies. He has been walking in the middle of that desolate place with no particular direction. He didn't know whether his steps would take him south or north, east or west. To him that place was the same.
He bowed his head and stared at his bony, pale hands. His head slowly tilted to the side with his dark hair falling to the side as he wondered why he never got hungry nor thirsty. It must have been both a blessing and a curse. He thought he died only to find himself stuck within that endless darkness of cold and loneliness.
Illuine didn't know how long he had been there. The passage of time didn't matter to him and even the wounds on his feet from walking didn't hurt anymore. He raised his head and looked around but he was still alone together with the red glow of the mysterious flowers around him. Every time he takes a look at them, it always reminds him of the blood spilt on the land of his ancestors.
That raging fire that razed the only home he knew. The betrayal that cut deep by the people he trusted and counted on to have his and his family's back. The greed that transformed their enemies into monsters who only knew how to kill in order to achieve their goals. His raised hand fell to his side and clenched into tight fists as his body shook and a heart wrenching wail echoed through that dark space.
Illuine fell to his knees and even with the thorns biting into his skin, his tears continued to pour out. The numbness he tried to use to hide his pain disappeared and just like that everything broke out. Ripples and ripples of floating blood lily petals surrounded him. He then laid on that thorn filled flower bed with his body curled as he poured out his suppressed sorrow and self-hatred.
For the last time, he reminisced the memories of his family that he failed to protect. His mother and father, who loved him despite the fact that he was not born with magic. His brother whom he adored and would rely on him even though he was born with great magic. The people within his family accepted him even though he was only good at combat.
Everyone died. His eyes tightly shut as he remained in that position for a very long time. The seed of resentment and hatred slowly grew and made the blood lilies around him glow a deeper shade of red. His surroundings turned into a sea of blood and when he opened his eyes once again, the light had disappeared.
He pushed himself up and stood up with his back straight before he raised his head. "If anyone is listening, whoever you are, I'm trading my soul for the chance to destroy the world!"
His whisper was carried to the ends of that vast darkness and voices started to mumble towards him. At first, they were just whispering but after a while, he could clearly hear them. After those voices, ghostly apparitions appeared and started to touch his body. It felt cold but he did not shudder. The appearance of these beings did not even startle him as if he had been waiting for them.
"Destroy the world."
"We like that."
"The master will like that."
"Will you really destroy the world?"
The voices were whispering to his ear while dancing around him. What registered to him was the word 'master'. Someone must have been watching him and as soon as he said the words 'destroy the world' these apparitions appeared.
"I will." His voice was firm and offered no room for doubt.
Giggles and laughter filled his ear after his answer. He could sense joy and satisfaction from the apparitions surrounding him and he did not know why. Despite that, he remained unmoved and waited because he believed that the master would soon show his face.
"Interesting." It took a while but a deep and gritty voice rumbled behind him.
Illuine turned around but he saw no one. He did not panic and just waited again. "If you are interested, then tell me what I should do to keep you entertained."
A rumbling laughter filled the abyss and created waves and waves of bloody petals flying around. "Clever. I will tell you then."
From his vision, he could see a dark silhouette floating in front of him. The dark silhouette's black ensemble coiled around him and pushed him forward at a steady pace. The image was hazy and there was no way for him to tell what the other person looked like.
"This world is already in madness, it lacks nothingness, oblivion is its end." The deep guttural voice brought back his attention to what was in front.
A cloaked man with only his red eyes visible to him appeared and as their eyes met, he felt a chill run down his spine. He knew that he was already dead and didn't feel anything and yet the mere presence before him awoke his fear.
He stood still and waited. The mysterious man's image slowly disappeared, replaced by an image of his empire. He didn't know how long it had been since he died and yet what he saw before him served as a mockery to his deep sorrow. Their laughter was as clear as the wails of his family dying. Their celebration was as vibrant as the fire that consumed his home. They were enjoying their lives as if that tragedy did not happen. They must have chosen to forget and bury it to the deepest pits of their soul.
"Now tell me, how does it feel to see them enjoying their lives while you are here and could only watch from afar?" The question penetrated through the anger and hatred that accumulated within him.
Illuine's fists clenched, tightly. "They do not deserve it."
The images before him faded and changed to how his family has been forgotten and buried within the depths of the fabricated lies created to cover the truth. He couldn't accept it, he wouldn't accept it.
"Once the world falls into greed that is when chaos follows." His laughter rumbled, creating ripples that made the darkness come alive. "All I want is the destruction of the world just as you have declared. If you promise me that you would bring chaos to the world, then I will give you the power to do it." The mysterious silhouette offered and with no other option at hand, Illuine must decide.
"Then I will destroy the world," he answered without hesitation. This earned another rumbling laughter.
Red burning blood lilies started blooming around him. This pleased the master of the abyss. No one has ever made his garden bloom this beautifully aside from his current visitor.
Giggles started to fill the red lit space. The ghostly apparitions once again appeared, dancing to a rhythm only they can hear. That was when Illuine finally noticed the glowing red light around him, a scene that reminded him of the blood spilled from that bloody night.
"Destruction."
"Oblivion."
"Revenge."
Those words echoed in his mind and as the mumbling became clearer, his thirst for destruction grew, a very tempting offer. Revenge, music to his ears, a humming that won't go silent and instead became even louder.
"Do you want power?" Chaos felt it, his desire for oblivion. It was unlike anything else he had felt. It gave light to his utterly boring long life. Finally, a person interesting enough appeared and now he had something to look forward to.
"Can you give it to me?" Illuine's desire overshadowed everything else.
Chaos laughed. "Your wish shall be granted." A drop of blood floated in between them.
With a wave of Chaos's hand, the blood entered Illuine's forehead without resistance and at that moment he felt his heart beat, so loud and painful that he fell to the thorny flower bed once more. He clutched his chest and tried to take a deep breath but it did not help as his vision started to turn hazy.
"A promise made shall be fulfilled. You will be bound to me and bring destruction to the world that they, oh, so cherish."
Chaos's laugh echoed through the space and pierced through Illuine's being before he was pulled into the depths of the dark waters. He struggled to swim up but his body felt heavy like a boulder and he could only sink. After a final struggle, he finally gave up and let his body sink.
His last memory before he closed his eyes is that of the man's last words. "Remember to call me Chaos."
Illuine's eyes closed. A golden ceiling greeted him the moment he opened his eyes once again. His pupils flashed red and gold before he heard a voice in his mind.
