The beautiful Thai restaurant was warmly lit, filled with the rich aroma of lemongrass, sweet coconut milk, and roasted spices. The five of them were seated together around a large wooden table near the back corner of the dining room that was filled with light chatter from the people around them.
Despite the cozy surroundings, Rowan and Beatrice were noticeably awkward in their seats. They sat stiffly in their chairs, carefully picking at their food. They were sitting at the exact same dinner table as their formidable boss, eating a casual meal alongside him, and neither of them quite knew how relaxed they were actually supposed to be. Every time they took a sip of water or reached for a napkin, they moved cautiously, acutely aware of the powerful man sitting right across from them.
