A welding rig struck the rail beside Caleb's hand. The man carrying it apologized without slowing, and another wave of commuters filled the landing where Suzu stood.
Caleb turned his right shoulder toward the wall. Suzu stepped closer, placing her good foot between the moving bags and her brace.
"We need somewhere we can hear," he said. "There's a maintenance alcove below this flight."
She looked down the stairs, then at the purple line trying to return beneath his display controls.
"Lead. Slowly."
He waited for the next gap and took the lower steps. Suzu followed on her own feet, one hand on the rail. At the alcove, he moved a folded transit barrier so she could stand with her injured leg clear of it.
The station noise reached them through the pipes. Caleb closed the module's audio channel and checked the screen before opening his burner phone.
"That crossed a military interface," Suzu said. "Do you have any record of what she changed?"
