Chapter 2 - The Entrance Exam

The big hall is jammed with young aspirants who want to join the academy and become a Zensen. Among this crowd stands Hiroko who is all set to go through the hall doors and enter the grounds of the Daten-shi force. A man standing in front of the hall doors takes up his notes in his hands and announces, "All participants now move forward to the ground in a line" and then all the participants start moving towards the ground and Hiroko who is also steadily moving in line towards the ground gets excited and in a cheerful manner says to himself "finally, its beginning". Hiroko enters the ground and is amazed by the number of participants there are for the force as people from all across the country come and apply to be a part of the Daten-shi Island force. There are five forces of the West nation and Daten-shi Island Force is the strongest force of all so aspirants all across the nation want to be part of this force but only a few can.

All the participants are lined up now standing in the ground and then the Grandmaster comes forward as he looks down at the participants from the upper halls where the Captains, Masters, Deputy Commanders are sitting. The Grandmaster speaks in a very loud, heavy yet clear tone "welcome everyone, you have gathered here today to become the part of the Daten-shi Island force. You all have to prove that you are worthy of joining this force and you will from this moment onwards be assessed by the captains. There will be three assessments, and you have to pass all three to be a part of the force. I wish you all very good luck". The Grandmaster takes a step back and the five captains come forward and look down at the participants. One of the five captains speaks "your first assessment is in the green forest where you have to collect one black rose from the garden near the lake and as you do that you pass the first round but be aware as demi monsters (monsters of nature that live in forests and prey on humans) are lurking and you have to get past them to reach the lake where you will find the black roses." He further adds "there are also five Kaijus (a complete monster almost equal to a 100 demi monsters) in the lake and if you alone can defeat one of the Kaiju, you then automatically clear the first round".

All the participants get excited after listening to their task. Hiroko also is now fired up as he says to himself "I can do this, time to become a Zensen". The captain continues "Your time starts now go through the big gate and you will enter the green forest but do remember that there are only 30 black roses out there." Everyone on the ground is shocked and they all know they must hurry and as soon as the gates open all of them start running towards the forest. Hiroko also runs but he gets distracted by one of the participants a boy almost his age, black wavy hair, pale eyes, a sadistic face wearing a black shirt and black scripted trouser who is not running like the others, he just casually walks with a body full of confidence as if he knows he can clear this round with no difficulty. Hiroko realizes that he is running slow and all the participants are now way ahead of him so he dashes and a few moments later he is in front of all the participants amazing all of them with his speed and there he meets Shiro who is running ahead of him so he matches up and looks at him and yells "Shiro, look at your right there is a golden bird" Shiro who is surprised turns right and as he does, Hiroko brings his feet towards his legs and Shiro falls down. Shiro yells "Hiroko you loser, you will pay for this." Hiroko, who is now ahead of everyone, looks back at Shiro with a big sarcastic smile on his face and says, "this is payback for what you did at the eagle cave". Hiroko starts running as Shiro stands up and then all the participants go on their different ways in the forest trying to avoid the demi-monsters. As Hiroko runs through the forest he encounters 2 demi-monsters which after seeing him run wildly towards him and he stands there completely calm as he smiles and then he jumps yelling "Wind Slash" and in an instant he slices through the 2 demi-monsters with only his punch covered with a spiral wind shield which he forces through the demi-monsters and as he lands he looks at his fist and says to himself "I will pass the exam and then one day defeat you, master!". He starts running again and he faces 1 demi-monster again which he defeats in an instant.

On the other end, Shiro also faces two demi-monsters, and he does defeat them after a bit of struggle. As time passes 5 participants encounter a Kaiju and they can't defeat or escape and are trapped. The kaiju smashes his huge fist on the participants who are scared and know that they are going to die. As the fist touches the participants they are instantly transported back into the stadium. It turns out that the demi-monsters and the Kaijus are cast in the forest through a magic spell from the grandmaster and whoever is defeated will be transported to the stadium. Hiroko who is jumping from one tree branch to another finds Shiro behind him who after getting a bit near to him says "I am not letting you win this easily" as he says this Shiro brings his right hand forward and gives it a clockwise whirl which produces a rift of air in his right-hand palm. This air rift turns into a powerful move which he directs towards Hiroko and yells "take this, Wind Smash." Hiroko stops as he hears this and turns around facing that ball of air wind directed towards him. As the air ball reaches him, he deflects it with a simple right-hand strike. Hiroko looks at Shiro with a grin smile on his face as he adds "is that the best you can do?" Shiro gets angry and says to Hiroko "let's see what you can do." Hiroko who is just about to make his move stops as he feels he is being watched and Shiro who was getting ready to defend himself from the attack of Hiroko is confused as to why Hiroko stopped but he soon realizes that something is coming towards them and before Hiroko can say anything a big, wild roar echoes around them and both of them face a 12 foot tall kaiju in front of them.

Hiroko looks forward as he is stunned by the huge Kaiju in front of him. Shiro also trembles in fear, but he braces himself. They both dash towards the Kaiju and at the same time jump, Hiroko mid-air bends a bit and brings his left-hand forwards with a fist as he swirls his right hand in a clockwise direction which when lands on the fist of his left hand produces a big air current and in doing so Hiroko yells "Wind Blade" and directs the air current which has now turned into a stream like arrow towards the kaiju. At the very same moment Shiro also does the same and yells "Wind Smash" and directs the air ball produced by his move towards the kaiju. Both of their attacks hit the kaiju at the same time and a big cloud of dust surrounds the kaiju as they both land on the ground.

The kaiju is still standing as the dust clears and they both realize that this won't be easy so they both keep attacking the kaiju but now the kaiju is mad and starts attacking both of them. Hiroko receives a hard blow from the kaiju which sends him flying as he smashes into a big tree. Shiro tries to dodge too but becomes the victim to the kaiju's hard fist. They both stand up and Shiro looks at Hiroko and says to him "Remember the eagle cave", "yes, you sure that will work here!" Hiroko adds as he jumps and dodges from the fist of the kaiju. "Yeah, why not or are you too afraid to do it again" Shiro replies as he starts running in a circle around the kaiju. Hiroko who is now running opposite to Shiro adds "well let's do it then" and as he says this both of them start to increase their speed as they circle around the kaiju leaving him confused and the moment, they both reach an optimal speed they start to make their hands swirl and in doing so produce a strong wind force surrounding their body. They both stop as the wind force grows and direct it from their body towards each other. The wind force from both of them collides and turns into a huge wind spiralling wind ball and they both put force into that wind ball as it grows stronger and try to change its direction and as it moves from between them and towards the kaiju, they both yell "take this, Twin Windstorm."

Their combined attack collides with the kaiju and in a moment the kaiju is thrown away by their attack into the trees and the body of the kaiju disperses into air. Hiroko and Shiro jump in excitement as they both realize they have now defeated the kaiju but when they are not teleported back into the stadium, they both realize that they haven't won the round yet and still need to collect the rose from the garden. Shiro looks at Hiroko and says, "well this was fun, but I can't stay as I have to win". Hiroko who after listening to Shiro looks down for a moment and then raises his head with a smile on his face and adds "Shiro, I am looking forward to facing you in the next round." Shiro smiles as he listens to what Hiroko says and starts walking.

On the other hand, the boy with black wavy hair, pale eyes, and a sadistic face wearing a black shirt and black scripted trousers is standing in front of two Kaijus. The boy looks down as he bends and brings both his hands back towards his right thigh and whispers, "this will not take long, Fire Flash."

Meanwhile, Hiroko and Shiro continue their journey through the green forest, determined to find the black roses near the lake. As they navigate through the trees and overcome more challenges, their rivalry intensifies. However, a sense of companionship also builds between them, born out of their shared experiences and the recognition of each other's strengths.

Back at the Daten-shi Island force headquarters, the Grand Master, Deputy Commanders and the captains watch the progress of the participants through magical scrying orbs. They observe Hiroko and Shiro's unique teamwork and individual skills. The Grand Master smiles as he sees the potential within these young aspirants.

The forest resonates with the symphony of nature, its serene beauty now transformed into a chaotic battleground where warriors test their mettle against the challenges laid out before them. The air is charged with magical energy, and mythical creatures lurk in the shadows, adding an element of unpredictability to the unfolding trials.

As Hiroko and Shiro navigate deeper into the forest, the terrain grows increasingly treacherous. The duo faces a daunting thicket of bushes and trees blocking their path, presenting an obstacle that demands a creative solution. With a determined expression, Hiroko contemplates the challenging maze before him.

"Alright, how am I supposed to get through this mess?" Hiroko mutters to himself, pondering the best approach. A spark of creativity ignites in his eyes as he assures himself, "I got this. Just need a little creativity."

Summoning his courage, Hiroko takes a step back and charges forward, attempting to leap over the thicket. However, fate has other plans for him. His foot catches on a sneaky protruding root, sending him crashing headfirst into the bushes in a comical display. "Ouch. That didn't go as planned," Hiroko grumbles, his pride slightly wounded.

Undeterred, Hiroko presses on, weaving through the maze, only to find himself lost after a series of turns. Frustration builds within him, and he scratches his head, muttering, "Screw this, I'll just destroy the whole maze."

Assuming a squatted position, Hiroko readies himself for an unconventional approach. "Gotta make this work, Wind Dash!" he exclaims, his body enveloped in a sharp-looking current of air. In an instant, he charges towards the maze's wall, breaking through the first barrier with a triumphant smile.

Undeterred by the challenges, Hiroko persists with his unique strategy. However, his elation is short-lived, as he realizes the walls, he broke rearrange themselves, leaving him back where he started.

Frustration and determination mingle within Hiroko as he takes a moment to reassess the situation.

"This might require a different approach," Hiroko mumbles, adjusting his strategy.

As Hiroko confronted the dense thicket forming a perplexing maze in the heart of the forest, he scratched his head, perplexed. The bushes seemed to twist and turn in random patterns, creating an almost chaotic labyrinth. Hiroko's determined expression slowly shifted to one of confusion as he mumbled to himself, "This maze is a real puzzle, huh?"

Abandoning any attempt at strategic analysis, Hiroko decided to rely on sheer luck and impulsivity. He stepped back, took a deep breath, and with a carefree shrug, charged headlong into the thicket, hoping for the best.

His reckless approach led him to crash into the walls of the maze, stumbling over roots and branches. The bushes seemed to mock his efforts, reshuffling every time he crashed through, leaving Hiroko more disoriented than before. "Well, that didn't work," he muttered, rubbing his sore head.

Undeterred by his failed attempt, Hiroko decided to try a different tactic. He circled around the maze, muttering to himself, "Maybe I'll just find the exit by walking randomly." With a newfound sense of determination, he meandered through the thicket, taking turns at random without any rhyme or reason.

Remarkably, after a series of haphazard turns, Hiroko found himself at the exit of the maze. His expression shifted from confusion to surprise as he stared at the open path in front of him. "Oh, well, that was easy," he said, scratching his head in disbelief.

Unbeknownst to Hiroko, his success was purely accidental. As Hiroko exited the maze with an air of nonchalance, he shrugged off the chaotic encounter. "Guess luck was on my side today," he chuckled, oblivious to the fact that he had stumbled his way to victory.

Hiroko could now witness the lake and besides the lake was the garden of the black roses. Hiroko instantly dashed towards the garden and as he reached, he realized only 2 roses were left. He instantly plucked out one rose. Hiroko was teleported back into the stadium where he saw Shiro already standing looking at him. "Hey loser, you finally managed to make it huh!" Shiro added with a shrug smile on his face. Hiroko who was a bit annoyed instantly replied "Shiro, I am glad you are here". Shiro after listening to Hiroko's words smiled as he turned away.

The participants, having successfully completed the first assessment, prepare for the subsequent trials, unaware of the mysteries and adventures that lie ahead in their quest to join the prestigious Daten-shi Island force.

The stadium buzzed with excitement as the twenty participants who cleared the first round gathered, sharing tales of their encounters in the Elemental Forest. Among the murmurs and discussions, the name Zai Stone echoed like a mysterious whisper, creating an aura of suspense.

Participant 1: "Did you guys hear about Zai Stone? They say he took down two Kaijus by himself."

Participant 2: "Two Kaijus? That is impossible. I struggled with one demi-monster! Who is this guy?"

Participant 3: "You see that black wavy-haired guy, that's him, Zai Stone?"

As whispers spread, the legend of Zai Stone began to take shape, each participant adding their own touch to the narrative.

Hiroko, standing amidst the crowd, listened intently. The suspense around Zai Stone intrigued him, and a sense of competition mixed with curiosity lingered in the air. Zai became the enigmatic figure everyone wanted to know more about, an unexpected wildcard in the competition.

Hiroko whispering to himself "Two Kaijus, without Shiro I would be in big trouble with the Kaiju I faced, and this guy took on two. This just got a lot more interesting."

The Grand Master, observing the conversations from above, whispered to himself "Ah, Zai Stone, a name with a history. Some stories are best left untold until the right moment. Let the shadows reveal their secrets in due time."

Grand Master came forward after a few moments and looking at the 30 participants said "Congratulations on conquering the physical challenges of the first round. However, the journey has just begun. The Daten-shi Island force values not only strength but also mental resilience."
