The alley spat them out onto the main street.
Neon signs flickered overhead: massive holo-ads for cybernetic implants, energy drinks, and "companions available for rent." Rain slicked the streets, reflecting the lights like a fractured kaleidoscope.
Elric blinked. "…Okay. Step one: run. Step two: chaos. Step three: somehow survive."
Lyra grabbed his arm sharply. "Player, follow me. Keep moving!"
Kaida-9 growled, moving beside them, sensors scanning the area. "Hostile units are closing in. Probability of survival low without coordination."
Mii twirled dramatically, slipping slightly on the wet pavement, but recovering with a cartwheel. "Combat choreography! Let's make it stylish!"
Pix darted ahead, tapping every drone, every street-side terminal she could reach. Sparks, sparks everywhere. "Elric! Look! Random destruction! Maximum chaos! This is perfect!"
Sera moved with uncanny grace, weaving around puddles and debris. "Environment variables: highly unfavorable. You should fail."
Elen glided silently beside Elric. "Focus. Trust your luck."
Elric swallowed, heart pounding. "…Alright. Let's do this."
The first wave of security drones appeared sleek, black, mounted with laser turrets. Red targeting lines cut across the street like strings of fire.
Lyra fired first quick, precise shots. Drones exploded in showers of sparks.
Kaida-9 followed, a powered punch sending one drone spinning into a neon sign.
Mii leapt, flipping through the air, blasting dazzling energy bursts from her arm cannon, narrowly avoiding Lyra. "…Sorry! Totally style points!"
Pix zipped across, hacking everything she could touch. Sparks, explosions, and glitching holo-ads rained down, leaving a rainbow of chaos in her wake.
Sera muttered numbers under her breath, dodging with perfect precision. "Elric… step left. Now right. Calculated path…"
Elric stumbled over a puddle, slipped, and accidentally kicked a crate, sending it rolling directly into the path of a drone's laser. It ricocheted, taking out two more drones.
"…Wait," he whispered. "…that worked?"
Elen placed a hand on his shoulder. "Your luck… is real."
The remaining drones swarmed. One fired directly at them.
Elric's stomach lurched. He dove to the side and a passing delivery hover-truck crushed the laser's path, barely missing them all.
"…Yep. Definitely luck," Elric muttered, pushing himself up and sprinting.
Lyra's eyes widened. "How… how did that happen?"
Kaida-9 growled, scanning rapidly. "Parameters broken. Probability… impossible."
Mii spun again midair, laughing. "Player, you're amazing! Maximum chaos! Maximum style!"
Pix clapped her hands. "See?! RNG king! Total legend!"
Sera shook her head, whispering numbers like a mantra. "This defies all logic…"
Elen's serene voice cut through the madness. "Keep moving. Focus. Trust him."
Elric grinned through the rain. "…Alright. Let's see if I can make this even more ridiculous."
He sprinted toward a set of stairs leading up to a neon-lit walkway. The six girls followed, chaos in perfect dissonance. Lyra precise, Kaida-9 tactical, Mii dazzling, Pix wild, Sera calculated, Elen serene.
At the top, a massive billboard shuddered, flickering. Sparks rained down. Elric leapt and misjudged.
Fell… but landed on a passing cargo drone, bouncing like a ragdoll across the street.
"…Ohhhhhh…" he muttered. "…yeah. Luck confirmed."
The girls landed behind him, all at once, expressions ranging from shock to amusement to exasperation.
Lyra's sharp glare softened slightly. "…Player. You're insane."
Kaida-9 growled. "…But surviving."
Mii clapped, spinning midair. "Player! Maximum performance! Best day ever!"
Pix bounced around excitedly. "Chaos master! I love it!"
Sera muttered, "…this is impossible."
Elen's gentle smile anchored them. "…And yet, somehow, it works."
The city stretched ahead: rain-slick streets, neon towers, impossible overpasses. Drones still patrolling. Danger at every corner.
Elric grinned. "…Okay. Let's see what other glitches this city has for us."
