Chapter 1 - Chapter 1

David had never imagined that love would find him in a foreign land—especially not in a city as cold and distant as Warsaw. He came from Bangladesh with a simple dream: to build a better life through hard work and business. A practicing Muslim, quiet and determined, David believed in discipline more than destiny. Love, to him, was something secondary—something that would come later, after success.

When he first arrived in Poland, everything felt unfamiliar. The language was strange, the weather colder than anything he had known, and the people seemed reserved. But David was not the kind to give up. Within months, he opened a small kebab restaurant in a busy corner of the city. It wasn't luxurious, but it was his—built from long nights, savings, and courage.

Still, despite the growing business, his life was painfully lonely.

After closing the restaurant each night, David would sit alone in his small rented apartment. The silence was heavy. He missed the warmth of home, the familiar voices, and the sense of belonging. Slowly, he turned to the only place where loneliness could be hidden—online.

That's where he met Karolina.

Karolina was different. She was a Christian girl, born and raised in Poland. Her profile was simple, but something about her caught David's attention. Maybe it was her soft smile, or the sadness hidden behind her eyes. They started chatting—casually at first. But within hours, it felt like they had known each other for years.

Karolina shared that life had not been easy for her. She spoke about struggles, about feeling alone, about not having anyone to depend on. David listened carefully. Something inside him wanted to help her, to protect her.

Surprisingly, on the very first day, Karolina invited David to her apartment.

David hesitated for a moment. It felt too fast. Too sudden. But loneliness often pushes people into decisions they wouldn't normally make. So he went.

When he arrived, Karolina opened the door slowly. She looked even more fragile in person. The apartment was small and slightly messy, but it carried a quiet charm. She welcomed him in, her voice soft.

"I don't have money for medicine," she said gently, almost like a confession.

David didn't ask too many questions. He simply nodded. Within minutes, he went out again and returned with medicine, coffee, groceries—anything he thought she might need. It wasn't just kindness; it was something deeper, something emotional.

Karolina looked at him with gratitude, her eyes shining in a way that made David feel needed.

They sat together, talking for hours. The conversation flowed naturally—about life, religion, dreams, and pain. Despite their different backgrounds, there was a strange connection between them. A Muslim boy from Bangladesh and a Christian girl from Poland—two worlds meeting in one small room.

As time passed, the atmosphere became warmer, more intimate. David tried to comfort her, even offering a gentle body massage to help her relax. It wasn't just physical—it was emotional care. Karolina allowed it, trusting him completely.

That night, they shared moments that felt deeply romantic, almost unreal. For David, it felt like he had finally found someone who understood him. Someone who filled the emptiness inside his heart.

Days turned into weeks. David kept visiting Karolina. He brought her things, spent time with her, and slowly built a routine around her presence. His restaurant remained important, but Karolina became his emotional center.

But something wasn't right.

Sometimes, Karolina would disappear for hours without explanation. Sometimes, her stories didn't match. There were moments when her sadness felt too rehearsed, too perfect. David noticed these things, but he chose to ignore them. Love—or what feels like love—often blinds people.

One evening, while sitting alone in his restaurant, David began to question everything. Was Karolina really as helpless as she seemed? Or was he being drawn into something he didn't fully understand?

He remembered the first day—the sudden invitation, the request for money, the immediate closeness. It all felt too fast now.

Yet, when he saw her again, all his doubts faded.

Karolina smiled, and that was enough.

David knew their relationship was complicated. Different religions, different cultures, different expectations. In his heart, he wondered if this love had a future at all. Could a Muslim man and a Christian woman truly build a life together? Or was this just a temporary escape from loneliness?

But he pushed those thoughts aside.

Because sometimes, people don't fall in love with reality.

They fall in love with a feeling.

And in the heart of Warsaw, surrounded by unfamiliar streets and silent nights, David had found a feeling he wasn't ready to lose—even if it came wrapped in deception.
