Chapter 22 - Accused Without Truth

Sarah was playing with Eva in her room, teaching her new things and giving her all her time. At that very moment, Zara entered the room, filled with anger. She was staring at Sarahh with such fury as if she could kill her right there.

Sarah noticed Zara and, in a friendly tone, said,

"Oh Zara, why are you standing there? Come here. I'm so silly—you just came back from the office, you must be tired."

Sarah offered her a glass of water and politely asked her to sit. But Zara was so furious that instead of sitting, she snatched the glass from Sarah's hand and threw the water straight onto her face. Sarah was completely drenched.

Now Sarah also got a little angry and said,

"What kind of behavior is this? What have I ever done to you that you're treating me like this?"

Zara began speaking in anger,

"Oh, so now you're asking what you've done to me? You're quite talented, aren't you? Wearing simple, modest 'traditional girl' clothes, keeping an innocent face as if butter wouldn't melt in your mouth—and you don't even have to try hard."

"What nonsense are you talking? I don't even want to talk to you," Sarah replied.

Sarah turned to leave, but Zara grabbed her hand.

"Where do you think you're going, Miss Traditional Girl? Our conversation isn't over yet."

Sarah stopped, crossed her arms, and said,

"Fine. Let me also see how much poison you have in your heart for me."

Zara smirked and said,

"You're very clever. How did you trap my brother? You must have thought—he's handsome, hot, the biggest doctor in the city, and extremely rich."

These harsh words pierced Sarah's heart, and tears filled her eyes.

"Do you really think that about me?" she asked, crying.

Zara looked straight into her eyes and said coldly,

"I don't just think it—it's the truth. Tell me honestly, didn't you plan all this? Pretending to have memory loss, acting helpless and innocent, making a sweet face… just to trap him and secure your life?"

Sarah couldn't tolerate hearing such bitter things about herself. In anger, she raised her hand to slap Zara—but then stopped herself, remembering she was Kevin's sister.

With a trembling voice, Sarah said,

"You are Kevin's sister, and I respect him—that's why I stopped. But that doesn't mean you can say anything about my character."

Zara stepped closer. Sarah took a step back in fear. Zara grabbed her hand tightly, pulled her forward, and pressed her cheek hard while saying angrily,

"Oh, so you'll complain about me to my brother? You have that much courage? Living in my house and daring to complain about me?"

Zara pushed Sarah harshly. Sarah fell to the ground. The pain she felt was deeper inside than outside, and her tears wouldn't stop. At that moment, she didn't understand what to do.

Zara pointed her finger at Sarah and said,

"You know what? You're a completely characterless girl—greedy and cheap. Someone who only knows how to cheat her boyfriend. I'm sure you're cheating my brother too."

Sarah couldn't hear any more. She covered her ears tightly, shut her eyes, and cried out loudly,

"Stop… no more!"

She broke down into tears.

But Zara was so heartless that she left Sarah in that broken state and walked away without another word.

Hearing Sarah's cries, Kevin rushed into the room. He saw her on the floor, on her knees, crying uncontrollably.

Kevin ran to her, placed his hand on her head, and said,

"Hey Sarah, what happened? Why are you crying? Is everything okay?"

Sarah turned toward him and hugged him tightly, crying even more. Kevin gently stroked her hair and said softly,

"My brave girl, what happened? Why are you like this?"

Sarah said nothing—she just kept crying against his chest.

Kevin lifted her face, wiped her tears, and said,

"It's okay. If you don't want to say anything, I won't ask you. Tell me whenever you feel ready."

At that moment, Eva crawled toward Sarah and stood beside her. She touched Sarah's cheek and innocently wiped her tears, saying,

"Mama… mama…"

Seeing this, Sarah's heart melted. She hugged Eva tightly to her chest.

Kevin smiled softly and said,

"Look, even Eva doesn't like seeing you cry like this."

Sarah rested her head on Kevin's shoulder and said,

"Please don't ask me anything. When I'm ready, I'll tell you everything."

Kevin didn't ask any questions. He lifted Sarah in his arms, gently placed her on the bed, gave her water, and softly kissed her forehead.

"I trust you completely," he said. "You can never do anything wrong. So don't worry about anything. It's late now—try to rest."

Sarah nodded softly. She called Kevin closer, kissed his cheek gently, and then held Eva close to her chest like a mother. Closing her eyes, she finally drifted off to sleep.
