Chapter 96 - Chapter 96: The Shadow Isles Way of Greeting

The three surviving Dark Wizards in the smoke sensed danger, immediately cast Shield Charm to protect themselves, and began to break the situation.

"Wind Whirl!"

"Whirlwind Sweep!"

"Lumos!"

The howling wind dispersed the smoke, and the other two Dark Wizards moved closer to their companion who was casting the wand lighting spell.

But after only a few steps, their bodies suddenly froze. "Watch out behind you!"

The warned Dark Wizard was terrified, but before he could react, he heard a crisp cracking sound.

Karl used a Diffindo to shatter the Protego, and then slammed a Stupefy onto him.

The effect of the Stupefy was quite good; the Dark Wizard fell straight asleep, and it looked like he had excellent sleep quality.

"Avada Kedavra!" × 2

Karl leaped to dodge the two intertwining Killing Curses, while not forgetting to add a Petrificus Totalus to the unconscious Dark Wizard.

The powerful Killing Curse destroyed all the trees along the way, causing trunks to tilt and fall, and branches and leaves to scatter.

Maneuvering nimbly through the chaotic mess, Karl raised his wand. Blue flames erupted with a roar, and a powerful shockwave whistled through the air.

Sand and stones flew! Electric energy surged!

The two Dark Wizards had no desire to take the hit with their Shield Charm, so they immediately retreated to dodge.

"Boom!"

The earth cracked and collapsed, and the rising dust obscured both sides' vision once again.

With a wave of Karl's sleeve, the branches and stones on the ground transformed into lions, leopards, eagles, and snakes, rushing toward the dust cloud in an overwhelming swarm.

As for himself, he twirled his wand and took a detour to avoid the dust. With every step he took, thick black mist, like ink dropped into water, rapidly spread and diffused across the ground, corroding everything.

Karl hadn't used this thing before, so this was the perfect chance to test its effectiveness; those two Dark Wizards were truly fortunate.

"Reducto!"

"Blast Charm!"

Facing Karl's army of Transfigured animals, the two Dark Wizards were exhausted from dealing with them and had no choice but to blast everything in front of them to pieces.

However, before they could even catch their breath, they realized the surroundings were eerily quiet.

Repressed feelings of fear accumulated rapidly in their hearts, creating a suffocating sensation that made it impossible to breathe.

"Careful! Something is wrong—"

"Ah! Help me! Ah—"

The Dark Wizard who had issued the warning watched in horror as his companion was suddenly enveloped by a mass of ominous black mist.

Amidst shrill wails, his face twisted in agony, and his entire body rapidly melted and dissipated, becoming a part of the black mist. Then, in the corpse-green glow, a terrifying wraith appeared.

It glanced at him greedily, its eyes filled with malice and desire, before kneeling and kowtowing to the side.

The terrified Dark Wizard trembled all over and subconsciously turned his head to look, only to see the Little Wizard walking over with light, brisk steps.

Run! This is a devil!

He wanted to turn and flee, but discovered that he too was being enveloped by the evil, ominous black mist.

He tried to grip his wand to resist, but only felt fine powder leaking from between his fingers; the wand had long since been corroded into dust by the black mist.

"Th—this is what?"

"Just the Shadow Isles way of greeting."

Karl crossed his arms over his chest and rubbed his chin, examining the wraith that had submitted to him, feeling that his style was a bit off.

"Hiss, this is too terrifying, right? No matter how you look at it, it doesn't seem like something a good person would do!"

He was clearly one of the good guys, but if someone else saw this, who could tell which side was the villain?

It was a good thing he tested it this time; otherwise, he absolutely could not release the Soul-Devouring Night Black Mist in front of Minerva and Nina, because they would definitely be scared.

As for whether Grindelwald would find out, Karl didn't care at all, because that old man had a flexible moral bottom line when it came to this.

"Please! Please—spare me!"

Watching the Dark Wizard wailing and begging for mercy, Karl gave him a kind smile.

"Don't be a coward! Where was that ruthlessness when you were throwing Killing Curses at me earlier?"

"I'm sorry! Please spare me!"
