Knock, knock.
The butler carefully knocked on the door and then readjusted his posture once again. He was worried that any mishap might disrupt his master's mood.
"Come in."
Upon the blunt permission from inside, the butler quietly opened the door and entered.
As always, Duke Atlante was sitting at his desk, engrossed in his documents. His indifferent attitude of not even bothering to look up even though someone had entered the room would have offended a normal person, but the butler, familiar with his behavior, walked up to the Duke and quietly waited for him to speak.
After a moment, the Duke turned the last page of the document and opened his mouth.
"Is this all about Sylvia?"
"Yes, Your Grace. It's the result of a thorough investigation into Lady Sylvia's whereabouts up to a month before her birthday party."
The Duke frowned as he looked at the pile of documents upon the butler's words.
"… And the result is that you know nothing?"
