"Long time no see," he mumbled, idly spinning his knife.
'Wasn't a poke in the side enough to silence him?'
I thought, extending my foot under the table to tread on Luca's shoe.

"Long time no see?" Professor Dmitri, who had moved to the seat beside Aiden, asked.
'Normally, I would address him more respectfully because of my inner Confucianist. But right now, I hate him too much to do so…'
"The four of us used to play together a lot when we were young," Luca responded playfully while gazing at Aiden.
'Is Luca trying to make up for the lack of attention he didn't get?'
I wondered, deliberately disregarding the curious glances directed my way as I picked up my knife again.
'Ah, I'm sure I'll get sick if I try to eat something now.'
"Chew slowly," Joshua whispered in my ear as he offered me some stew, apparently sensing my discomfort.
