I didn’t fully believe in his words.
A part of me thought that those doors might not open no matter how desperately I called out his name.
But Zahid came tearing down my doubts, just as he came tearing through those doors.
He maintained his unhurried attitude, as always.
His gaze drifted from my face and shifted downwards.
To be more accurate, his gaze fixated upon my wrist, which was in the tight grasp of the Pope.
Zahid let out a curt, sharp smirk.
“I didn’t know you had a hobby of lusting after married women, Your Holiness.”
The Pope responded with a pleasant grin on his face.
“I reckon you should mind your manners and watch your tongue, Duke Carnoire.”
“How respectable of you to bring up manners after all that you have done today.”
Zahid continued, smiling cheekily with his eyes.
“I should have blown the whole building down. It was a mistake of mine to have spared that despicable tongue of yours.”
