"What happened?"

He ended the call.
Ava stood.
"What is it?"
"They hit one of my properties," he said. "Not for money—for a message."
Her stomach dropped.
"This is about you, isn't it?"
"Yes."
"And now it's about me too."
Dominic looked at her—really looked at her.
"I'm not leaving you unprotected."
"I'm not asking you to."
"Good," he said. "Because you don't get a choice."
Ava smirked slightly.
