Gideon returned to the kitchen and found Adeline still preparing breakfast for them. He wished he could stay and eat right then, but he could not ignore what Ensley had just told him.
"Adeline, I need to go to the camp at the capital borders," he said, stepping into the room.
She lifted her gaze from the pan, looking surprised. "Already? You haven't even had breakfast yet."
"It is urgent. A hunter has come to the camp and is specifically asking for me. Ensley called a few moments ago. I will be back once I am done talking with the hunter," Gideon asserted.
"Yes, go ahead. There must be something serious going on," Adeline said, understanding the weight of his duties.
Gideon appeared right next to her, planting a swift kiss on her cheek before disappearing from the kitchen entirely.
