Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Clash of Sovereigns

đź“–

The air didn't just tense—

It collapsed.

An invisible pressure spread across the arena, forcing weaker students to step back, some instinctively retreating even without understanding why.

At the center stood two figures.

Alex.

Iris.

Neither moved.

But the ground beneath them had already begun to crack.

---

"Begin."

---

The instructor's voice barely faded—

When Iris vanished.

---

She didn't run.

She disappeared.

---

Alex's eyes sharpened instantly.

---

[God's Eye Active]

---

The world slowed.

Mana signatures flared.

Distortions in space revealed themselves—

To the left.

---

A blade of compressed space tore through the air—

---

Spatial Sever.

---

Alex twisted his body.

Too late.

The invisible slash grazed his side—

---

Blood sprayed.

---

Gasps erupted.

"He got hit!" "It was invisible—!"

---

Alex slid back, boots scraping against stone.

His hand pressed lightly against his wound.

Shallow.

Controlled.

---

Fast…

---

Iris stood a few meters away, arm extended, expression unchanged.

"You dodged," she said calmly.

"But not completely."

---

Alex straightened.

"…You don't hold back."

---

Her eyes flickered faintly.

"Why would I?"

---

She raised her hand again.

Mana condensed—

Denser.

Sharper.

---

The sky above the arena darkened slightly.

---

Starfall Dominion.

---

Dozens—

No—

Hundreds of glowing points formed overhead.

Each one humming with destructive energy.

---

The crowd panicked.

"That's overkill!" "She's going to kill him!"

---

The stars fell.

---

Like judgment.

---

Alex moved.

---

Not away—

Forward.

---

The first star slammed down.

He stepped to the side.

The second—

He cut through it.

Explosion.

Heat.

Shockwaves rippled across the arena.

---

More followed.

Relentless.

Precise.

Tracking him.

---

[Prediction Calculating…]

---

Paths appeared in his vision.

Lines of death.

Tiny windows of survival.

---

Alex's body flowed through them.

Each movement exact.

Minimal.

Perfect.

---

A star exploded behind him—

Another grazed his shoulder—

Burning flesh—

Pain flared—

Ignored.

---

He closed the distance.

---

Iris's eyes narrowed slightly.

---

"He's adapting…"

---

She snapped her fingers.

---

The space around Alex—

Froze.

---

Frozen Time Shard.

---

Everything stopped.

Dust.

Flames.

Even the air itself.

---

Except—

Alex.

---

Barely.

---

His body slowed—

But didn't stop.

---

A crack formed in the frozen field.

---

Iris's eyes widened slightly.

"…Impossible."

---

[Resistance Detected: Partial]

---

Alex forced himself forward.

Each step felt like breaking through glass.

Time itself resisting him.

---

Blood dripped from his nose.

---

But he smiled faintly.

---

"So this is your power…"

---

He broke through.

---

The frozen field shattered.

---

BOOM.

---

The arena trembled.

---

For the first time—

Iris took a step back.

---

Not out of fear—

But calculation.

---

Alex appeared in front of her.

Blade drawn.

Fast.

---

He slashed.

---

She reacted instantly—

---

Astral Barrier.

---

A shimmering field blocked the strike.

---

But—

---

CRACK.

---

A fracture spread across it.

---

The impact pushed her back several meters.

---

Silence fell.

---

"He… broke her defense?"

---

Iris steadied herself.

Her expression changed.

Slightly.

---

Interest.

---

"…You're not F-rank."

---

Alex lowered his blade slightly.

"…And you're holding back."

---

A pause.

---

Then—

A faint smile touched her lips.

---

"Good."

---

The ground beneath her feet lifted.

Gravity shifted.

The air warped.

---

Mana surged—

Wild.

Beautiful.

Terrifying.

---

"Then I won't either."

---

The sky above the arena—

Split.

---

A vast, star-filled void appeared.

---

Astral Domain: Celestial Throne.

---

The world changed.

---

Students collapsed under the pressure.

Some couldn't breathe.

Others couldn't move.

---

Inside the domain—

Everything belonged to her.

---

Alex stood at the center.

Bloodied.

Breathing steady.

---

His system flickered violently.

---

[Warning: Extreme Threat Detected]

---

"…So this is your true strength."

---

Iris floated slightly above the ground.

Hair drifting like starlight.

Eyes glowing.

---

"Submit," she said quietly.

---

Not arrogance.

---

Authority.

---

Alex laughed softly.

---

"…No."

---

Something shifted.

---

Darkness crept along his arm.

Subtle.

Barely noticeable.

---

His grip tightened.

---

[Bloodline Reaction Detected…]

[Abyssal Sovereign: LOCKED]

---

The darkness faded.

But something remained.

---

A presence.

---

Iris felt it.

---

Her eyes narrowed.

"…What are you?"

---

Alex didn't answer.

---

He moved.

---

Faster than before.

---

Even inside her domain—

He advanced.

---

She raised her hand—

---

Gravity crushed downward.

---

The ground beneath Alex shattered—

His body forced down—

Bones creaking—

---

He stopped.

---

Then—

Step.

---

Another.

---

Cracks spread under his feet.

---

He kept moving.

---

"Impossible…"

---

He reached her.

---

Their eyes met—

---

Then—

---

BOOM.

---

Their clash sent a shockwave tearing through the domain.

---

Blade met barrier.

Light met darkness.

Control met destruction.

---

Iris attacked.

Precise.

Deadly.

Spatial cuts.

Gravity spikes.

Time distortions.

---

Alex countered.

Adapted.

Learned.

---

Every move sharper than the last.

---

A slash cut across his chest—

He retaliated instantly—

Striking her shoulder—

---

Blood.

---

Silence.

---

He froze.

---

She froze.

---

A single drop fell between them.

---

The crowd stared in disbelief.

---

"He… injured Iris?"

---

Iris looked at the wound.

Then at Alex.

---

For the first time—

Her composure cracked.

---

Not anger.

---

But realization.

---

"…You're dangerous."

---

Alex exhaled.

---

"So are you."

---

The domain flickered.

---

Then—

Collapsed.

---

The sky returned.

The pressure vanished.

---

Both stood there—

Breathing.

Bloodied.

Unbroken.

---

The instructor rushed forward.

"Match over!"

---

Silence.

---

Then chaos.

---

"That was insane—!" "He fought her equally!" "Who is he?!"

---

Iris turned away.

But paused.

---

"…Alex."

---

He looked at her.

---

"You're not what you pretend to be."

---

A brief silence.

---

"…Neither are you."

---

A faint smile.

Gone in an instant.

---

She walked away.

---

And for the first time—

---

Alex felt it.

---

Not excitement.

Not danger.

---

But something else.

---

A connection.

---

Dangerous.

Unavoidable.

---

And far more terrifying than any enemy.
