Boris strutted forward with a toothpick clenched between his teeth, backed by four or five of his ruthless underlings.
They advanced menacingly towards Rhian.
"Your parents not only refused to pay back the money they owed me years ago but also reported me to the police, accusing me of illegal transactions!
I was forced to pay a hefty fine of several tens of millions and get detained for a full fifteen days!"
"By the time I was out to seek revenge, I learned that those cowardly scum had both committed suicide by jumping off a building. Such a dreadful misfortune!"
"Being the only offspring they left behind in this world, how will you compensate me today?
How many kowtows will it take to appease your grandfather, me?"
In response, Jane abruptly stood up and explosively yelled at Boris:
"Kowtow? Not happening! But will burning paper money do?
If you want, I can burn a few hundred billion in hell for you to spend at your leisure!"
Incensed, Boris pointed at Jane's nose and retorted:
"Who are you, meddlesome woman?
This is a private grudge between her and me.
If you don't want trouble, bug off!"
"I am your 'grandfather'!" Jane stepped between Rhian and Boris, warning him in a meaningful tone:
"Dear grandson, I suggest you keep your distance, too
. Otherwise... you won't even have time to cry when my sisters get angry."
This remark earned the bewildered stares of Boris and his underlings, before they were seized by peals of uncontrollable laughter.
"Hahaha... me, crying?"
"Little girl, you must not know.
This unfortunate woman has been kicked out by the Cabrera family.
Without their backup, she is nothing.
I can do anything I want to her!"
Boris had been seeking revenge against Rhian for years, but was forced to restrain his intentions as Rhian was married to Jake, one of the most powerful men in New York.
Just a few days ago, upon hearing that Jake had discarded Rhian, and that a mistress had instigated this, he saw his opportunity for revenge.
"Heh! What a stroke of divine justice.
Today we cross paths as bitter enemies.
If you have money, then pay your debts.
If not, you can pay me with your body!"
Boris eyed Rhian's fair and delicate face, drool nearly escaping the corners of his mouth, his hands itching to touch her.
Hmph, to be able to bed a woman who was once with Jake, he's always the one benefiting!
Rhian subtly shifted her body to avoid him,
quietly took a sip from her cup of hot water, and chuckled,
"Compensating you with myself, eh? Sure, Are you sure you can handle it?"
Hearing this, Boris was overjoyed and smirked,
"I'm strong as an ox.
I can easily handle ten of you!"
Rhian put down her cup, looked up with her beautiful eyes, and fixed a seductive gaze on Boris
"Alright then, there's a grove nearby, let's go there."
And so, the two really headed towards the small grove in the nearby park.
Boris's followers looked dumbfounded and their mouths watered with envy.
The only one, Jane, held his forehead with a worried expression, hesitated for a while, then shouted from behind them,
"Er... take it easy!"
Boris's face was lit up with an almost ridiculous grin, as if a groom leading his bride to their wedding chamber, he chuckled,
"Don't worry! I know my limits.
Such a fine lady, I'll need her for later use, can't afford to ruin her."
"..." Jane went silent, looking at Boris with a sympathetic gaze.
Unlucky bloke, who on earth had he offended?
She was Rhian Valdez, who currently have a divorce case ongoing.
Tsk tsk, whether he could survive or not, it all depended on if his layer of fat was for show or could it absorb some beating...
A few minutes later, shrill cries rang out from the grove, worse than a wailing dog.
"Ah! Ah! Ah!"
"Please, spare me, spare me!"
However, the voice didn't come from Rhian, but instead came from Boris.
"What... What's going on?"
Boris's underlings exchanged glances.
After about five minutes, Rhian emerged unscathed from the small grove, nonchalantly flexing her fist.
She was so poised that not even a strand of hair was out of place.
"Done with it?"
Jane asked.
"Yeah, I haven't practiced in years, I'm a bit rusty.
Took me a couple more seconds."
"Girl, don't underplay yourself.
Though it took two extra seconds, the power was tenfold stronger.
The scream from that guy sounded like a slaughter, is he still alive?"
"He should still be breathing."
After finishing her speech, Rhian cast a cold gaze upon the bodyguard,
"You guys should go check up on your boss, and take him to the hospital now."
While the bodyguard didn't quite get the situation,
they could tell something was wrong from their boss's agonizing scream and quickly fled in fright.
Jane, on the other hand, was not surprised at all.
Years ago when she and her brother were kidnapped,
it was Rhian who single-handedly faced off against a dozen kidnappers, rescuing them from imminent danger.
At that time, they witnessed Rhian's astonishingly good skills and found out that she hid many mysterious identities beneath her unassuming appearance.
They were left aghast at first, slowly becoming accustomed, and now...
they were numb to it.
"Joking aside, Rhian is the legitimate and sole granddaughter of Mr. Valdez.
How could she not possibly be capable?
Regrettably, the Cabrera family, for four solid years, never detected any anomalies.
They must all be blind!
"My dear sister, I was just worrying moments ago that you would be harassed once you're divorced.
After all, you've played the role of a bullied young wife for so many years so well that I almost believed it…"
"Now it seems, I've been fussing over nothing.
Who could take advantage of you?
They merely have to bow and submit to you.
I'm finally relieved!" Jane clinked her cup against Rhian's, and said,
"No need for any more words, to freedom!"
Rhian faintly smiled,
"To freedom!" Yes indeed, from now on,
she will no longer have any relations with the Cabrera family.
She no longer needs to persistently play the lady of decorum, nor does she need to ponder over what kind of girl Jake truly likes.
From this day forward, she will live with only her freedom in mind!
The next day.
Early in the morning, Rhian arrived at the private hospital where the appointment was made.
This hospital was renowned not only for its superior technique but also the ability to offer absolute privacy to its patients.
In other words, once she musters up the courage today to remove the little one in her womb,
there would be no second person in the world who would know she was once pregnant, as though the tiny life inside her had never existed.
The operation was about to commence, and Rhian became significantly tenser, with her delicate, pretty face straining tight.
"Keep going, Rhian.
This is just a minor setback.
Once it's removed, everything will be back on track!"
She constantly gave herself pep talks in her mind.
"Rhian." Within the consultation room,
the doctor called out Rhian's name. "Here."
Rhian took a deep breath and walked in.
"I've gone through your pre-operative report;
there are no contraindications.
If you really want to go through with the operation, we can proceed immediately," said the doctor while holding the report, his expression somewhat indifferent, and asked,
"Have you made up your mind about it?
Are you sure you don't want it?"
"I've decided. I don't want it!"
"Fine. Follow our nurse to change your clothes, and then go to the operating room to lie down …"
The doctor stopped for a moment after he had finished speaking, then added,
"What a pity, what a pity.
Have you read your examination report?
Do you know your unborn child is slightly different?"
