Sunlight found the gap between the curtains.
It slipped through in a thin golden line and stretched across the cultivation room floor, catching the last traces of steam that still hung in the air. The room was warm now. Comfortable. The biting cold that had filled it hours ago was completely gone.
Lyra's skin had returned to its normal color.
The frost crystals had melted away. She lay on the mat with her eyes closed, breathing deeply and evenly, her frost-robes still loosely adjusted from the transfer.
Holden sat with his back against the wall, his eyes half-open. He'd maintained the energy flow for nearly five hours before the last of the frost had retreated. His arms ached dully and his energy reserves were lower than he liked, but it was nothing a good meal wouldn't fix.
Lyra stirred.
