Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: You Think I'd Believe Your Nonsense?

"President!"

Ayase Akane, her cheeks flushed from drinking, rolled up her sleeves and jabbed her finger at Aoki Haruhi's nose. Her eyes glazed over momentarily.

"Do you know?" she slurred.

Aoki Haruhi lowered his eyelids and sighed. This one's drunk again.

Ayase Akane let out a burp and waved her finger dramatically. "Lately, I've been thinking a lot. Why do I exist? Why do I think? Why did I meet a shameless yet strangely handsome man like you, President?"

Aoki Haruhi covered his face. I shouldn't have agreed to drink with you guys.

"Why?" Ishino Mika chimed in from the side. "Ayase-san, you're so smart! I've been wondering the same thing."

Ayase Akane swallowed hard, forcing down the sour taste of bile. Then she said earnestly, "We're probably all fake!"

"Huh?!" Ishino Mika stared at her in awe and shock.

Huh?! What the hell do you mean, "Huh"?!

Aoki Haruhi felt utterly overwhelmed. Dealing with one of them was already difficult enough, and Ishino Mika didn't seem to be faring much better.

This was a huge mistake.

"Why else would there be so many coincidences?" Ayase Akane whispered mysteriously. "Especially the President's appearance. With so many contradictory elements concentrated in one person, it's hard to believe any of us are real."

"Huh? No way! Are you serious?" Ishino Mika exclaimed, her eyes already unfocused.

"Absolutely," Ayase Akane replied. "In the real world, would anyone make an HR person act as their secretary without giving them a raise?"

This woman...

Aoki Haruhi's lips twitched.

"Fine. I'll give you a raise after the New Year, okay?"

"Deal."

Ayase Akane nodded, looking like a promising student.

"I want one too!" Ishino Mika raised her hand, her voice clearly excited.

"But that's not the main point," Ayase Akane said. "President, your response just now inadvertently revealed that we were all created."

"Huh?" Aoki Haruhi thought she had gone mad. What kind of twisted logic was this?

"Think about it," she continued. "Before I pointed out the contradictions in this world, you never even considered giving me a raise. But as soon as I exposed this flaw, you immediately agreed. Doesn't that prove—"

"That the creators of this world fear us discovering its falsehood? That we were created? Just like a programmer fixing a bug in a program."

What the hell...?

Aoki Haruhi stroked his chin, momentarily speechless. To his surprise, this drunken ramble actually held a semblance of internal logic.

"No, no!" At that moment, Ishino Mika shook her head vigorously, waving her hand dismissively. "Ayase-san, you're mistaken."

"Huh?" Ayase-san replied in a soft, velvety voice.

"Think about it," Ishino Mika said. "If we were all created, who prompted you to ask that question just now? If I were the Creator, wouldn't I have prevented you from ever doubting the world in the first place?"

Ayase Akane fell silent, her small brows furrowing as she pondered this for a long moment.

"Hmm... I guess you're right."

"Exactly!" Ishino Mika tilted her head, a cute smile playing on her lips. "So we're both real. You don't need to worry about these things."

"Right! We should just enjoy the moment!" Ayase Akane sighed.

Huh?

Aoki Haruhi glanced at Ayase Akane, then at Ishino Mika.

Damn, these two are really something, even drunk. They're actually pretty impressive.

"Let's do headstands!" Ayase Akane said, pushing herself up from the floor.

"Let's! Let's!" Ishino Mika agreed eagerly.

"Huh?!"

Aoki Haruhi was completely dumbfounded.

Before he could react, the two women bent over, placing their hands on the floor, and flipped into a headstand against the wall.

Due to gravity, their skirts slid up to cover their faces.

"Hey, why is it getting so dark?" Ishino Mika's voice rang out.

Splat!

Ayase Akane toppled over, landing in a diagonal shape like the letter "X."

Immediately after, Ishino Mika slid down the wall, her legs still pressed against it, forming a large "L" shape.

Ugh...

Aoki Haruhi felt his head about to explode.

I knew I shouldn't have drunk with the girls from the company!

Before long, their breathing had grown heavy, and they were clearly fast asleep. It seemed unlikely that these two would leave tonight.

Aoki Haruhi retrieved blankets from the wardrobe, first adjusting their sleeping positions before tucking them in.

By the time he finished, it was about 11:30 PM.

Knock, knock, knock.

Just then, there was a knock at the door.

He opened it to find Tsuda Nao standing outside.

Tsuda was wearing a beautiful black kimono with blue flowers, perfectly accentuating her curves. A faint blush adorned her cheeks, and her long, arched eyebrows framed her bright, expressive eyes.

Aoki Haruhi was stunned; he hadn't expected Tsuda to actually show up.

"Happy New Year," Tsuda Nao said, bowing slightly.

Aoki Haruhi quickly returned the bow. "Happy New Year."

Tsuda Nao clasped her hands over her chest, holding the strap of a small purse. She smiled at Aoki Haruhi. "It's New Year's Eve today. Would you like to go bell-ringing together tonight?"

"Huh?"

To be honest, this was the first New Year's Eve Aoki Haruhi had spent in Japan since his transmigration.

But the current situation was somewhat troublesome.

Just then, Ayase Akane's voice rang out from inside the house.

"Who's there?"

Tsuda Nao's pupils widened slightly, a flicker of surprise crossing her face.

"If President Qing has company, I apologize for the intrusion." With that, she turned to leave.

Aoki Haruhi quickly grabbed her wrist.

"Hmm?" Tsuda Nao frowned, glancing down at his hand.

"Nao, it's not what you think."

Just then, another murmur came from inside the house.

"President, one more drink!"

This time, it was Ishino Mika's voice.

Tsuda Nao raised her eyebrows slightly. "Indeed, it's not what I thought. I assumed you only had one woman at home. I never imagined President Qing was so... adventurous."

This is beyond repair!

Aoki Haruhi groaned inwardly.

Now he had even less hope of explaining himself.

After a lengthy explanation, Tsuda Nao finally believed his story.

The two female colleagues were just visiting his home, but their antics after drinking too much were truly adorable.

Aoki Haruhi slipped on his wooden clogs, stepped outside, and carefully closed the door behind him.

"Are you sure it's okay to leave them at home like this?"

"We're not that close, you know."

"What does that have to do with me?" Tsuda Nao scoffed coldly.

But when she turned away from Aoki Haruhi, she couldn't suppress a small smile.
