ASHER
Here we go—a date. Just one hour, anywhere. Alessia said this could help, but I know it won't. Watching her every seconds would be far more useful than this pointless date.
The lady cleared her throat, trying to get my attention—and she succeeded. I stared at her, and she immediately lowered her eyes.
She was wearing a blue gown, her figure slightly fuller. She glanced at me, looking a little nervous, before tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.
She slowly got to her feet. "I heard you love it when people dance in front of you," she said quickly, her voice breaking.
I nodded in amusement.
"Look, Alpha Asher… I can actually dance.," she said, trying to move her body to a Ballet rhythm.
Of course I do, but not this type. I love watching my prey entertain me before I send them to hell.
After a few awkward steps, she stopped, lightly hitting her forehead in frustration before walking back to her seat.
"I'm sorry… I forgot how to do it," she muttered, reaching for her orange juice.
A quiet chuckle slipped out before I could stop it.
Alessia really knows how to pick a date—she's cute and tries her best to be funny, but unfortunately, Kade wasn't impressed.
She took a long sip, then placed the glass down, her eyes snapping back to me.
"Tell me, Alpha Asher… have you ever been to the capital city?" she asked, her voice suddenly bright.
I shook my head.
Of course I had been there more times than I could count, but I wanted to hear where she was going with this.
She sighed, her excitement fading.
"The supernatural school there… it's my dream. But my parents died before I could even get admitted."
Her gaze dropped.
That was unfortunate. Everyone has experienced the loss of someone important at some point.
We lost ours fifteen years ago.
"Is she seriously crying, Asher? Make her stop—it's fucking disturbing," Kade growled, sounding more exhausted than angry.
I pulled out my handkerchief and stretched it toward her. She sniffed and took it quickly.
"I'm sorry… I didn't mean to get emotional," she said, her voice breaking. "I'm ruining the date…"
I gave a small nod and reached for my drink.
She had chosen this place herself, calling it her favorite. I had reserved a private section, and she ordered whatever she wanted.
It didn't matter. It was only an hour.
"What happens after today?" she asked, looking at me carefully.
I frowned slightly. "After today… what do you mean?"
She hesitated. "Us…"
"What's your name again?" I asked, pressing my fingers to my forehead as if trying to remember.
The truth was, I hadn't been paying attention when she introduced herself.
"Chloe," she said quickly, searching my face.
"Chloe," I repeated calmly, "this date is just for today. Don't expect anything more."
Her shoulders dropped, disappointment clear on her face.
I'd seen that look too many times. It meant nothing to me.
"I'm sorry, Alpha Asher… I'm not your type," she whispered, her voice breaking again.
"What the fuck is wrong with her? I can't stand those tears—they disgust me. Let's go home and see the doctor before the rest get back," Kade growled.
There are two things Kade and I hate—people who cry in public and those who think they are smarter than us.
"Chloe, I hate tears, and I don't pity anyone. You're from this pack, right?" I asked.
She nodded quickly, wiping her eyes.
"You said your dream is to study in the capital city," I continued. "I'll make that happen for you."
Her face twisted with confusion—like she was trying to be happy, but fear and sadness kept breaking through.
I stood up. Time to go back to what actually matters, to see the doctor.
"Alpha Asher… it's only been thirty minutes," she said, her voice shaking. "The date isn't over yet…"
I tugged my hands into my pockets, staring at her blankly. First, I don't follow rules. Second, how dare she try to stop me?
But then the thought of Alessia getting angry if I treated the date she picked for me poorly crossed my mind. I exhaled softly.
"When you're done eating, you can leave," I said before walking out.
She tried to say something else, but there was no need—I was already outside the door.
Axel and Azriel won't be home anytime soon. I just have to spend some time with the doctor before they return… I'm dying to know her more.
Today, she looked incredibly beautiful in that dress—to the point we all forgot we were supposed to teach her a lesson for ignoring our messages this morning.
She said she has a husband… or mate, whatever. I don't care. They don't have to end up together.
And the fact that he laid his hands on her made me want to kill him—and I would, if I knew who he was.
Speaking of him, she never even mentioned him.
I quickly grabbed my phone and dialed Roman, our Beta. He picked up immediately.
"I want to know everything about that doctor—her husband and where she lives."
"Okay, Alpha Asher,"
I hung up at once, increasing my speed. I only had twenty minutes—I needed to get home before my brothers returned.
"We want Asher," Kade, my wolf, whispered.
A low chuckle escaped me. "And we will have her," I replied back.
