The First Descent
The air inside the dungeon was thick and tasted like ash. I stepped through the shimmering blue portal of the Sector 7 Fire Dungeon, and immediately, the temperature spiked.
"We're finally here," I whispered, my heart thumping against my ribs. "A real dungeon."
The walls were made of glowing red stone, and rivers of low-heat magma flowed in the cracks of the floor. In front of us, a Rank-F Fire Slime wobbled near a jagged rock. It was a low-level monster, but to an unranked person, its touch would cause third-degree burns.
I looked at the tiny dragon on my shoulder. "Alright, Nero. Use that move from yesterday. The one where you shredded that Hound in the kitchen!"
Nero let out a small, smoky huff and shook his head.
"Don't be a fool, Kai," his voice hissed in my mind. "Yesterday was a 'Moment of Death' release. I burned my ancient reserves to save your soul. Now, we are Level 1. We are starting from the dirt."
The Hidden Interface
My stomach dropped. "You mean you can't do the Shadow-Blast?"
"Not yet. But you forget who I am. I am the vessel of your past lives."
Suddenly, a new screen flickered in front of my eyes. It wasn't the basic Hunter Association screen—it was my system.
[SKILL TREE INITIALIZED]
[USER: KAI — THE FIVE-FOLD SOUL]
I stared at the glowing icons. Usually, a Hunter only has one element. A Fire-Master has Fire skills. A Water-Master has Water skills. But as the list scrolled down, my breath caught in my throat.

[WATER SKILL: MIST-VEIL (UNLOCKED)]
[WIND SKILL: AIR-STRIDE (UNLOCKED)]
[EARTH SKILL: STONE-SKIN (UNLOCKED)]
[SHADOW & LIGHT: SEALED (LEVEL 10 REQUIRED)]
"What is this?" I gasped. "I have... all of them?"
The First Strike
The Fire Slime lunged, a ball of molten jelly flying toward my face.
"Focus, Kai!" Nero barked. "Use the Fire to kill the Fire!"
I didn't think. I just reached out. My hand felt hot, but not from the dungeon. The heat was coming from inside me.
[SKILL ACTIVATED: CINDER-CLAW]
Nero didn't just sit there; he turned into a streak of black light and wrapped around my forearm. My hand was suddenly wreathed in dark, purple flames that formed the shape of a massive dragon's talon.
I swung.
The Cinder-Claw cut through the Fire Slime like a hot knife through butter. The monster didn't just pop; it was absorbed.

I stood there, panting, as the purple flames faded from my hand. I looked at the icons for Water, Wind, and Earth.
"If people find out I have every element," I whispered, "the world isn't just going to be shocked. They're going to be terrified."
Nero climbed back to my shoulder, his golden eyes glowing. "Then don't let them find out. Let them think you are just an F-Rank with a lizard... until it's too late to stop us."
