Chapter 75 - Chapter 76 — Who Else Can't Fly?

The scarlet tentacles behaved like living pipelines.

They greedily absorbed the freshly torn kagune sacs, funneling the dense RC-cell energy directly back into Carnage's constantly writhing crimson body.

Each devoured kagune sac caused the symbiote's surface to ripple violently.

Several ghouls possessing unusually developed kagune received special attention.

Their kagune sacs were extracted with brutal precision.

Carnage devoured them completely.

The massive crimson monster released a satisfied growl.

As the enormous influx of RC-cell energy merged with the symbiote mass—

Something began to change.

The crimson slime around Carnage's shoulder blades surged violently.

Plop!

Two enormous wings burst outward from its back.

They were not ordinary wings.

They were formed from hardened crimson biomass reinforced with jagged bone-like spikes.

Their shape resembled the wings of a demonic bat.

Each membrane rippled with viscous crimson slime.

Each bone ridge bristled with spikes.

The wings flapped violently.

A powerful gust of wind swept across the battlefield.

The air reeked of blood.

Carnage roared with excitement.

The symbiote relished the surge of new power.

Its pale white eyes swept across the battlefield.

Finally—

They locked onto a distant figure.

Arata Kirishima.

Still weak.

Still recovering.

Still staring helplessly toward the sky where his son had been taken.

A thick scarlet tentacle lashed forward like a whip.

It wrapped around Arata's waist.

Lifting him roughly off the ground.

"Ugh—!"

Arata groaned involuntarily.

His weakened body barely able to endure the force.

Yet his eyes still burned with worry.

Carnage crouched slightly.

Its enormous wings spread to their full span.

Then—

They slammed downward.

BOOM!!!

The blast of air cracked the metal floor beneath its feet.

A violent shockwave rippled outward.

The colossal crimson body shot upward like a blood-red meteor.

Arata Kirishima dangled from the tentacle like cargo.

Together they soared toward the massive breach in the ceiling of Cochlea—

The same opening torn apart earlier by the One-Eyed Owl.

Below them—

The battlefield was silent.

Yukinori Shinohara and the surviving investigators stared upward.

Helpless.

Powerless.

Carnage burst through the breach.

Cold night wind slammed against its body.

The air carried the scent of smoke, blood, and burning metal.

Below—

The prison complex burned with chaos.

Sirens screamed endlessly.

Searchlights swept wildly across the night.

Carnage hovered in mid-air.

Its bone wings beating heavily.

Its pale eyes scanned the horizon.

Searching.

Hunting.

It extended its senses outward.

Trying to detect the unique aura of the One-Eyed Owl.

But—

Nothing.

The night sky was empty.

Only distant city lights flickered in the darkness.

The One-Eyed Owl had vanished.

"ROOOOAR—!!!"

Carnage roared furiously.

The sound waves shattered windows in nearby buildings.

Its wings beat harder.

Generating a violent air current.

Inside Ren's mind—

Carnage snarled.

[…Gone…]

[…That cunning creature…]

[…It shrank its form…]

[…and hid…]

The symbiote's rage boiled over.

Carnage abruptly tilted downward.

Looking back at the prison below.

The alarms were still wailing.

The building still crawled with living prey.

Pursuing the One-Eyed Owl was pointless now.

But there were still other things worth destroying.

Carnage folded its wings.

Then dove downward like a falling comet.

BOOM!!!

It crashed onto the top level of Cochlea.

The impact created a deep crater in the metal floor.

Cracks spread outward like spiderwebs.

The tentacle released Arata Kirishima.

Throwing him aside.

At this moment—

Carnage's mind contained only one desire.

Slaughter.

The monster strode forward.

Heading directly toward the building's temporary control room.

The location with the highest concentration of humans.

Cochlea — Temporary Control Room

"He—he's back!"

A technician screamed in terror.

"That red monster!"

"He came back through the breach!"

"He's coming straight here!"

The deputy warden's face turned ghost-white.

His glasses hung crooked on his nose.

His entire body trembled uncontrollably.

On the surveillance monitor—

Carnage's enormous crimson body bulldozed through the corridors.

Heavy security doors shattered like cardboard.

Every guard who attempted to stop it—

Died instantly.

Even the remaining Aogiri Tree ghouls still inside the prison were not spared.

Carnage tore them apart indiscriminately.

"Hold the door!"

"Hold it!!"

"Call for backup!"

The deputy warden screamed hysterically.

Staff members shoved desks and equipment against the alloy door.

Some even used their bodies to brace it.

It was meaningless.

BOOM—!!!

The reinforced alloy door caved inward instantly.

Metal fragments exploded across the room.

Carnage stepped through the ruined doorway.

Its enormous body completely filled the entrance.

Its pale eyes slowly scanned the room.

Every terrified human froze in place.

"M-monster…"

The deputy warden collapsed in his chair.

Too afraid even to run.

Carnage gave them no chance.

BANG! CRACK!

The two staff members nearest the door exploded instantly.

Their upper bodies shattered under the impact of Carnage's claw.

Organs splattered across the walls and control panels.

Another technician tried to hide behind a desk.

Carnage's hand shot forward.

Its massive claws grabbed him.

"AAAAAA—!"

The scream lasted only a moment.

SPLAT!

The claws closed.

His body was crushed instantly.

Blood and organs spilled from between Carnage's fingers.

But Carnage was not finished.

The crimson slime covering its right arm surged violently.

Hardening.

Extending.

It transformed into a gigantic blade more than three meters long.

The blade gleamed coldly beneath the flickering lights.

Carnage swung it.

Like the scythe of death.

SHRRRAAA—!!!

Everything in its path was sliced apart.

Human bodies.

Metal control panels.

Computers.

Walls.

Several workers were cut diagonally in half.

Their upper bodies slid slowly to the floor.

Blood sprayed across the room.

Within seconds—

The temporary control room fell silent.

Only sparks flickered from shattered equipment.

Only alarms continued their useless screaming.

There were no survivors.
