Chapter 1 - CHAPTER ONE: THE LEASE

The first mistake I made was thinking

I was safe.

The second?

Signing a lease I didn't understand.

I remember the exact moment everything changed.

It was a Tuesday.

Rainy. Cold. Quiet.

The kind of day that makes you feel like the world is too big… and you're too small.

I stood outside the apartment building, clutching my small suitcase like it was the only thing keeping me grounded.

"Unit 3B," the landlord had said over the phone.

"Already paid. Just move in."

It felt too easy.

But I didn't question it.

I should have.

The hallway was silent when I stepped inside.

Too silent.

Every step I took echoed like I wasn't supposed to be there.

Like something was watching me.

I shook the feeling off.

"You're overthinking, Elena," I whispered to myself.

I always did that.

Always scared. Always careful.

That's what happens when you grow up with no one but yourself.

No siblings. No chaos. No experience.

Just… quiet.

I found the door.

3B.

My new home.

My fresh start.

My fingers trembled slightly as I pushed the key into the lock.

Click.

The door opened slowly.

The apartment was… beautiful.

Too beautiful.

Minimal. Clean. Expensive.

Not the kind of place a student like me should be able to afford.

But again

I didn't question it.

I stepped inside.

Closed the door behind me.

And that's when I heard it.

A voice.

Low.

Deep.

Male.

"You're in the wrong apartment."

My heart stopped.

I froze.

Every part of my body went cold.

I turned slowly…

And that's when I saw him.

He was sitting on the couch like he owned the air I was breathing.

Dark clothes. Relaxed posture.

Eyes locked on me like I was something he had already decided belonged to him.

Dangerous.

That's the only word that came to my mind.

Dangerous.

"I—I'm sorry," I stammered, my voice barely working.

"This is 3B… I just moved in…"

He didn't respond immediately.

He just stared at me.

Slowly. Intensely.

Like he was studying me.

Like I was something fragile… or something he could break.

Then he stood up.

Tall.

Too tall.Too close.

"Who gave you this apartment?" he asked quietly.

I swallowed hard.

"The landlord… I paid already…"

Something in his expression changed.

Not shock. Not confusion. Something darker.

He laughed softly. Not amused.

Not kind.

Cold.

"You shouldn't be here," he said.

My fingers tightened around my bag.

"I—I can leave if—"

"No."

The word cut through the air instantly.

Sharp. Final.

Terrifying.

He stepped closer.

Now there was no space between us.

I could feel his presence. His control.

My heartbeat was so loud I was sure he could hear it.

"You walked into the wrong place," he said slowly, his eyes dropping to my lips before returning to my eyes.

"And now…"

A pause.

A dangerous one.

"You don't get to just walk out."

My breath caught.

"What…?"

And then—

The door behind me opened again.

Another man walked in.

Then another.

My chest tightened.

My mind screamed.

My body froze. It was like I forgot to breathe

They all looked at me.

Different expressions.

Same intensity.

Same power.

Same danger.

One of them smirked.

The other stayed quiet.

And the first one…

The one in front of me…

He didn't look away.

Not even for a second.

"Looks like," one of them said casually,

"…we have a new problem."

And in that moment…

I realized something terrifying.

I wasn't in the wrong apartment.

I was in the wrong life.

And there was no way out.

She thought she signed a normal lease…

But she walked into a world ruled by three dangerous brothers.

Cold. Possessive. Unforgiving.

Now Elena Rossi is trapped between obsession, control… and a love she doesn't understand.

And the Moretti brothers don't share.

Or do they?
