Chapter 70 - What Is This Blood Manipulation Technique of Yours?

Mahiko was completely dumbfounded.

What do you call that "Blood Piercing"? That's more like a blood hemorrhage.

[Blood Piercing] is one of the most powerful moves in the original Blood Manipulation technique — it compresses blood saturated with Cursed Energy and launches it like a high-pressure water cannon, capable of instantly boring through powerful defenses and slicing through the hardest of materials. It stands as one of the most formidable penetrating techniques in all of Jujutsu Kaisen.

But what the hell is this?! A blood hemorrhage??

And where did you even get that much blood?

Mahiko dodged immediately. Pillars of blood erupted into the air, great quantities of the stuff splashing across the sky.

A fire truck's high-pressure hose carries tremendous force — but when you're spraying something as viscous as blood, getting it to even a modest height is already something of a feat.

The speed was nothing special, so Mahiko had no trouble evading.

"Where did you even get all this blood?" Mahiko demanded, bewildered. There was no way all of it came from their own bodies alone. "Damn it — how many people did you have to kill to collect this much?"

"Hahahaha! Scared now, are you?!" The squad leader let out a roar of laughter, mouth split in a wide grin — then apparently registered mid-grin that one of his front teeth was missing, courtesy of Mahiko's earlier attack. "Blood represents life! To manipulate blood is to wage war using life itself as fuel — and our Blood Manipulation has reached the absolute pinnacle of that path!!!"

So they were truly that twisted? Mahiko felt something stir inside her.

She turned to look at the blood flung across the sky.

Wait — something felt off. This blood... it didn't quite look like human blood.

Mahiko furrowed her brow and held out a hand, letting a single drop fall into her palm. The blood had clearly been altered — it was intensely corrosive, hissing and sizzling against her skin.

Uh... this blood... why does it feel so strangely like...

"What the — is this Pig Blood Manipulation?!" Mahiko yelped. "Is this thing literally just designed to gross people out?!"

And it smells, too! Oh god, it's so disgusting! This is absolutely unhinged!!

"Not just pig blood!" the squad leader bellowed, laughing his head off. "We use whatever blood we can get our hands on!! And then we water it down on top of that!!"

Okay, okay, I get it, you really don't need to explain!! This is genuinely revolting!

That said — credit where it was due — the blood was genuinely corrosive, like concentrated acid. Wherever it made contact with the ground or the trees around them, it ate right through, sending up wisps of smoke; the trees disintegrated on the spot.

"And that's not all! Everyone get ready — Blood Manipulation: Asteroid!!!"

Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh — dozens of water balloons were hurled into the sky, and Mahiko's skin broke out in goosebumps. Because every single one of those balloons was packed with that same corrosive blood.

Mahiko felt a tension unlike anything she had experienced before. Not because the corrosive blood could actually harm her — in truth, it couldn't hurt her in the slightest.

The problem was the filth. And the smell.

It wasn't that Mahiko was particularly fastidious — if you were standing there in person, you'd understand exactly how rank it was. The girl really, truly wanted no part of any of this.

"Detonate!" — That was what the squad leader had been about to say. He'd caught the blue-haired girl's look of panic and was already wearing a supremely confident smile. But in the very next instant, before that single word could leave his lips, something else reached his ears first — words laden with Cursed Energy.

["STOP!!"]

Every squad member's body froze solid. The blood pillars ceased moving. The water balloons never detonated — they dropped, hit the ground with a wet splat, and burst open, their contents eating into the earth.

Another puppet dropped from above, delivering a single kick that sent the entire fire truck sailing through the air. It crashed down in the distance, dust and debris billowing in every direction.

Mahiko landed, reaching out toward the group — she'd been about to apply Idle Transfiguration to dismantle their legs and strip them of mobility — but the very next second she yanked her hand sharply back, her expression souring.

"Pffahaha!!" The squad leader's body shook free, gasping for breath, stumbling backward in rapid retreat — laughing even as he went. "That was close — didn't expect you to know Cursed Speech... Hahaha, lucky for us Lady Luck's on our side! We'd already activated our defensive technique before you said a single word."

The squad leader spread his arms wide, displaying the "Blood Armor" coating every inch of his body. The grotesquely viscous blood had been molded across his exterior like clay — as if someone had sculpted a suit of armor out of red, corrosive mud.

"This! This is Blood Manipulation — Corrosive Scale Leap!!!"

"No." Mahiko's expression was deeply unpleasant. "How is this any different from smearing yourself in sewage?"

"Never mind that! Filth wards off evil!" the squad leader roared. "You dare hit me?!"

Mahiko was genuinely at a loss.

She was realizing that the creative floor of jujutsu sorcerers in the original Jujutsu Kaisen had clearly been set far too high. If Pig Blood Manipulation was already on the table, what on earth might come next? She didn't even want to imagine what "even more disgusting" could possibly look like.

That said, Mahiko also noticed something: their jujutsu wasn't purely about being revolting. The blood they'd used to block her initial ambush had been pure blood — structurally strong. The tainted blood, by contrast, came in far greater volume and carried stronger corrosive properties. They apparently used the two types in combination — their Blood Armor, for instance, was layered: an outer shell of foul blood backed by an inner lining of pure blood as a foundation. So it wasn't entirely fair to say they were here purely to be absurd.

As bizarre as they were, an average-strength sorcerer who encountered this group might genuinely struggle.

"If you're not going to make a move, then we're pulling out the big one!" the squad leader bellowed, spreading his arms wide. "Go! Activate! Blood Manipulation — Great Tsunami!!!"

Gurgle, gurgle. Something was groaning through the pipes beneath the ground.

Then one fire hydrant exploded. Then two. Blood erupted upward like fountains.

"Blood is our ammunition!" the squad leader cried, laughing wildly. "On our own turf, don't even think about——"

The squad leader's voice faltered.

Something had changed. The temperature was climbing. The blood was beginning to congeal. The air itself was warping from the heat.

He looked toward the girl in front of him, who was forming hand seals — and realized, without knowing quite when it had happened, that a ring of small rabbits had materialized around the group, surrounding them completely on all sides.

"Haah..." Mahiko sighed. "Just because you disgust me and I don't want to touch you doesn't mean I'm out of options."

Every rabbit opened its mouth at once. Flames erupted from all directions simultaneously, engulfing the entire group in an instant.

— This was the fire technique Mahiko had learned from Jogo. When she'd helped modify Jogo's body earlier, she'd naturally picked up fire-breathing along the way. Under normal circumstances, a fire output would certainly be less efficient than Idle Transfiguration applied directly — but for a situation like this...

Mahiko was done.

Just burn the blood and the people together.
