The first thing the young man saw upon opening his eyes was the color white. He glanced left and right and discovered that he was in a large room with pure white walls.
Is this heaven…? I'm ninety-nine percent sure I died, so that could be the only explanation…
The young man had already realized that he probably died after tumbling down that staircase. So where could he be now but heaven? As the young man pondered, a high pitched voice—coming from behind—snapped him out of his thoughts.
"What are you idiots doing?! I said they were rushing B! Why aren't you rotating?!"
The young man turned around and saw a girl—who looked to be in her mid teens—sitting in front of a monitor, mashing a keyboard and mouse, and shouting angrily into a headset. She had green colored hair that was styled in twintails and wore white priestly looking robes.
Who is this girl...? …And is she playing Walorant?
Defeat!
A robotic voice echoed from the computer monitor.
"Ugh! I got demoted to iron again! How many losses in a row is that now?!" The girl shouted and angrily flung her keyboard in the young man's direction.
Pfft. Iron…? Man, she must suck… Well, I'll try to talk to her. She's the only other person in this room after all. The young man thought as he dodged the flying keyboard.
"Um… Hey." The young man called out to the angry girl.
"...Huh..? When did you get here?" The girl asked, finally noticing his presence.
"Just a bit ago. …I opened my eyes and I was in this room." The young man shrugged.
"...There shouldn't be any more heroes being summoned… Did the higher-ups make a mistake…?" The girl muttered, furrowing her eyebrows.
"What do you mean by 'heroes'?"
"Well, us gods were summoning people from different worlds and sending them to a fantasy world of swords and magic. I'm too lazy to explain the details, but apparently there was a big bad demon king running rampant. So in order to defeat him, we summoned some people and sent them to defeat the demon king. ...We didn't plan on summoning anyone from your world though. So I'm not sure why you're here." The girl explained.
Thisgirl is a goddess? Color me surprised…she's a bit of a bitch goddess. Wait…am I gonna be sent to fight this stupid demon king too…? No thanks. I have no interest in playing the righteous hero. …I do want to go to a fantasy world of swords and magic though…
Naturally, the young man had no interest in being a righteous hero. He did not want to be a hero who saves people and stands up for good. Nor a villain who intentionally did evil things and harmed people. Nor a god powerful enough to decide the fate of people. He just wanted to conquer the world. But, if he was called a hero, a villain, or a god on his journey of conquering the world, then so be it.
"So am I gonna be sent to fight this demon king too?"
"Well…the thing is…the demon king was already defeated…"
"...Huh? What do you mean?"
"Well, about a month ago, the hero's party raided the demon king's castle and defeated him. Also, we already sent the heroes back to their original worlds about a week ago."
"…So what's gonna happen to me?"
The young man had no desire to fight against this so-called demon king in the first place. But, if the demon king had already been defeated, then what would happen to him?
"Well unlike the other heroes that were summoned here, it looks like you already died in your original world. So I can't exactly send you back. ...Ugh! This is such a pain! Hmm…well I guess I'll just send you to the fantasy world too. And The higher-ups better not complain later!" The Bitch goddess whined before continuing.
"Anyway, since you're an otherworlder you get to choose a skill. I don't have the catalogue with all the skills right now and I'm too lazy to go get it. So just write down what skill you want and if it's possible, you'll get it." The Bitch Goddess rudely chucked a piece of paper and a pen at the young man.
What a bitch…! Don't take it out on me because you just got demoted to iron in Walorant…
The young man picked up the pen and paper and started thinking.
It was a common light novel trope for a protagonist to die in their original world, meet a beautiful goddess, choose an OP skill, and be sent to another world to save the day. Most people in this situation would choose cliche skills like OP recovery magic, unlimited mana, or crafting magic. But the young man was different. His dream wasn't as trivial as defeating one measly little demon king. After all, he dreamed of conquering the world. And to do that he needed power that was stronger than the average OP skill.
After thinking a bit, the young man wrote down one word on the piece of paper and handed it back to the Bitch Goddess. The Bitch Goddess didn't even glance at the paper before she made it glow and disappear.
"Okay, now that you've chosen your Skill, I'll send you over to the fantasy world. There's not a demon king anymore, so i dont know what youre gonna do. …Well whatever, it's not my problem. I just want you to leave already so I can grind back to bronze in Walorant."
…Are all gods like this…?
"Oh and one more thing." The Bitch goddess said before a different piece of paper appeared in her hand.
"This piece of paper is called a Skill Sheet. It has all the details of the Skill you chose. Make sure not to lose it"
Does that mean I got the skill I asked for…? Wait…! Will I finally be able to conquer the World?! No, no, calm down. I don't even know if the skill I asked for will even make me strong enough to conquer the world yet… The young man thought as he folded the Skill Sheet and put it in the back pocket of his sweatpants.
"Okay, good luck beansprout. Don't blame me if you die to some random monster, I'm just doing my job." The Bitch Goddess snapped and a light slowly enveloped the young man.
Isn't this the part where she's supposed to wish me luck with a beautiful smile on her face? I said it before, but, what a bitch…
The young man decided to ignore the Bitch Goddess in front of him and started to think.
Hmmm. I need a new name to use. My goal is to conquer the world so it's gotta sound cool. ...Oh, I know! How about Dawn? Yeah that'll work!
Zwoom!
The glowing ring beneath his feet flashed and Dawn disappeared.
The skill that he asked for? Almighty.
