Chapter 1 - The Error That Shouldn’t Exist

The system didn't crash.

It erased him.

---

Tony didn't notice it at first.

Why would he?

The world had already ended once.

Cities shattered. Skies cracked. Reality rewritten by something no one understood.

That was normal now.

This… wasn't.

---

It started with a sound.

A faint glitch.

Like static cutting through silence.

Tony paused mid-step.

The ruined street around him remained still—broken buildings leaning like they were waiting to fall, the sky above fractured into unmoving pieces of light.

Everything looked the same.

But something felt wrong.

"Did you hear that?" Emily asked behind him.

Tony turned. She was already tense, hand gripping her weapon tighter than usual.

"Hear what?" John said, scanning the area nervously. "If it's another monster, just tell me now so I can panic early."

Chris frowned. "No… I heard it too."

Bruce didn't speak. He rarely did when something actually mattered.

Tony narrowed his eyes.

There it was again.

A glitch.

Not a sound this time.

A distortion.

Like the air in front of him flickered for a split second.

Then—

A notification appeared.

---

[System Notice: Data Instability Detected]

[Error Code: #000—Unknown]

[Attempting Correction…]

---

John blinked. "Okay… that's new. We don't get error messages. We get death messages."

Emily's voice lowered. "Tony… that's your system, right?"

Tony didn't answer immediately.

Because something was off.

That notification—

It didn't feel like the system.

It felt… broken.

---

[Correction Failed]

[Re-evaluating Target…]

---

Chris stepped closer. "Target?"

Bruce finally spoke.

"Something's wrong."

Tony exhaled slowly.

"Yeah," he said. "Something is."

---

The air twisted.

Not violently.

Subtly.

Like reality itself hesitated.

Then—

Everything froze.

---

The wind stopped.

The light stopped shifting.

Even the distant sounds—

Gone.

Completely gone.

---

"Why did everything go quiet?" John whispered.

No one answered.

Because something worse happened.

The system changed.

---

[Target Identified]

[Entity: Tony]

[Status: Irregular]

[Action: Deletion Initiated]

---

Emily's eyes widened. "Wait—what?!"

Chris stepped forward instantly. "Tony, move!"

Tony didn't.

Not because he didn't want to—

But because he couldn't.

---

His body locked.

---

Not paralyzed.

Not restrained.

Just… removed from control.

---

"What's happening?!" John shouted.

Tony tried to speak.

Nothing came out.

---

[Deleting… 3%]

---

Pain hit him.

Not physical.

Not something he could scream from.

Something deeper.

Like parts of him were being… erased.

---

Memories flickered.

Not flashing.

Disappearing.

---

A moment from his past—

Gone.

A feeling—

Gone.

A thought—

Gone.

---

Emily grabbed his arm. "Tony! Say something!"

Her voice felt distant.

Like it was already fading.

---

[Deleting… 7%]

---

Chris's voice sharpened. "This isn't damage. It's targeting his existence!"

Bruce stepped forward. "Then we stop it."

"How?!" John snapped.

No one had an answer.

---

Tony felt it now.

The truth.

This wasn't an attack.

It wasn't a fight.

---

It was removal.

---

Like he wasn't supposed to exist.

---

[Deleting… 12%]

---

The world flickered.

Tony's vision distorted.

For a split second—

He saw something else.

---

Not the broken city.

Not his friends.

---

A void.

Endless.

Silent.

Watching.

---

Then it was gone.

---

[Deleting… 18%]

---

Emily shook him. "Fight it! Do something!"

Tony tried.

He really did.

But how do you fight something you can't touch?

Something that isn't even attacking—

Just… correcting?

---

Chris's voice dropped.

"This isn't random."

Bruce glanced at him. "Then what is it?"

Chris looked at Tony.

Carefully.

"It's removing an error."

---

Silence.

---

John swallowed. "And Tony is the error?"

---

[Deleting… 25%]

---

Tony's knees almost gave out.

Not from weakness.

From absence.

---

He could feel parts of himself missing.

Not injured.

Not damaged.

---

Gone.

---

Emily's voice cracked. "No. That's not true."

Chris didn't look away.

"Then why is the system targeting only him?"

---

No one answered.

Because deep down—

They all felt it.

---

Something about Tony had changed.

---

Since the beginning.

Since the tower.

Since the voice.

---

[Deleting… 32%]

---

Tony's vision blurred again.

The void returned.

Clearer this time.

Closer.

---

And in that void—

Something moved.

---

Not a shape.

Not a body.

---

A presence.

---

Ancient.

Silent.

Aware.

---

It was watching him.

---

Tony's breath slowed.

Not from fear.

From realization.

---

"This isn't the system…" he whispered.

---

Chris froze. "What?"

---

[Deleting… 40%]

---

Tony's voice was weak.

But steady.

"It's pretending to be the system."

---

Everything stopped.

For a second—

Even the deletion.

---

Then—

The notification changed.

---

[Correction Updated]

[Threat Level Increased]

[Accelerating Deletion]

---

[Deleting… 55%]

---

John panicked. "IT GOT FASTER?!"

Bruce stepped forward again. "Then we break it."

Chris shook his head sharply. "No—listen to him!"

Emily leaned closer to Tony. "If it's not the system… then what is it?"

---

Tony's eyes focused.

Through the blur.

Through the pain.

Through the disappearing pieces of himself—

He understood.

---

"It's… something behind it."

---

The void flickered again.

This time—

It didn't disappear.

---

It overlapped.

---

The broken city… and the void… existed at the same time.

---

Two realities.

Stacked.

---

And inside the void—

That presence moved closer.

---

[Deleting… 68%]

---

Tony could feel it now.

Not just watching.

---

Reaching.

---

Like it was trying to pull him out.

---

Emily's grip tightened. "Tony, stay with us!"

Chris's voice cut in. "If it's not the system… then the system might not be able to stop it."

Bruce smirked slightly. "Then we don't rely on the system."

John looked like he was about to lose it. "We don't have anything else!"

---

Tony exhaled slowly.

---

He did.

---

The voice.

---

The one that had been with him since the beginning.

---

The one that wasn't supposed to exist.

---

For the first time since the deletion started—

He reached for it.

---

"Help me."

---

Silence.

---

Then—

It answered.

---

"Finally."

---

Everything changed.

---

The deletion froze.

---

[Deleting… 70% — Paused]

---

Chris's eyes widened. "It stopped?!"

Bruce grinned. "Good."

Emily looked at Tony. "What did you do?"

---

Tony didn't answer.

Because he wasn't fully there anymore.

---

Half of him—

Still in the world.

---

The other half—

Inside the void.

---

The presence was right in front of him now.

Closer than ever.

---

And the voice—

Was no longer inside his head.

---

It stood beside him.

---

"You're late," it said.

---

Tony looked at it.

Really looked.

---

For the first time—

He saw it clearly.

---

Not human.

Not a monster.

---

Something in between.

---

"You knew this would happen," Tony said.

---

The figure tilted its head.

"Of course."

---

[Deleting… 72% — Resuming]

---

The presence reacted.

The void trembled.

---

"Then stop it!" Tony demanded.

---

The figure smiled faintly.

"Why would I?"

---

Tony froze.

---

"What?"

---

The figure stepped closer.

"Do you understand what's happening?"

---

The deletion climbed again.

---

[Deleting… 78%]

---

Tony's body in the real world started fading.

---

Emily screamed, "He's disappearing!"

---

Chris clenched his fists. "Tony!"

---

Inside the void—

The figure spoke calmly.

---

"This is your proof."

---

"Proof of what?!" Tony snapped.

---

"That you were never meant to exist."

---

Silence.

---

[Deleting… 85%]

---

Tony's heart slowed.

Not from fear.

From clarity.

---

"…Then why am I still here?"

---

The figure's smile deepened.

---

"Because something… refused to let you be erased."

---

The presence in the void shifted.

Closer.

Watching both of them now.

---

"And now it wants you back."

---

Tony's eyes narrowed.

---

"Who?"

---

The figure leaned closer.

Its voice dropping to a whisper.

---

"The one who deleted you… the first time."

---

Everything stopped.

---

[Deleting… 90%]

---

Tony's breath caught.

---

"…First time?"

---

The figure's eyes glowed faintly.

---

"You don't remember?"

---

Memories flickered.

Not disappearing this time—

Returning.

---

Fragments.

Broken.

Incomplete.

---

A moment—

A fall—

A voice—

A choice—

---

Then—

Darkness.

---

Tony's eyes widened.

---

"…I was already deleted."

---

The figure smiled.

---

"Exactly."

---

[Deleting… 95%]

---

The world outside was collapsing around him.

His body almost gone.

His friends shouting—

Fading—

---

Inside the void—

Everything became clear.

---

This wasn't happening now.

---

It had already happened before.

---

And this time—

It was correcting the mistake.

---

Tony looked at the figure.

---

"…So what happens if I let it finish?"

---

The figure didn't hesitate.

---

"You disappear."

---

A pause.

---

"Completely."

---

[Deleting… 98%]

---

Tony closed his eyes.

---

Then opened them.

---

"No."

---

The void trembled.

---

The presence reacted.

---

"Not again."

---

For the first time—

Tony didn't hesitate.

---

Didn't think.

---

Didn't hold back.

---

"Give it to me."

---

The figure's smile widened.

---

"Good."

---

[Authority Override: Activated]

---

The system shattered.

---

Not broken—

Overwritten.

---

[Deleting… ERROR]

[Command Rejected]

[Unknown Authority Detected]

---

The presence in the void stopped.

---

For the first time—

It hesitated.

---

Tony stepped forward.

---

And the void—

Bowed.

---

The deletion collapsed instantly.

---

[Process Terminated]

---

Silence.

---

Tony stood there.

Breathing.

Alive.

---

But different.

---

Because now—

He knew the truth.

---

He wasn't just surviving the system.

---

He was something it couldn't erase.

---

Something it couldn't control.

---

Something that had already died once—

---

And come back.

---

The world reformed.

The void disappeared.

His friends rushed toward him.

---

"Tony!" Emily grabbed him.

"You're back…" John whispered.

Chris stared at him.

Long.

Carefully.

---

"You stopped it."

---

Tony didn't answer immediately.

---

Because something still felt wrong.

---

Not outside.

---

Inside.

---

The figure's voice echoed one last time.

---

"You didn't win."

---

Tony's eyes narrowed slightly.

---

"…Then what did I do?"

---

Silence.

---

Then—

---

"You just made it notice you."

---

Tony froze.

---

Because the system—

Wasn't the one watching anymore.

---

Something else was.

---

And this time—

---

It wasn't trying to delete him.

---

It was waiting.

---

For him.
