Chapter 5 - The Limitless Darkness

I saw the most beautiful girl in the entire

continent.

Her long, silky white hair shimmered like light itself, flowing gently down her back. Her eyes… they shone like golden stars, bright and captivating.

She was looking at me.

And without realizing it… I was staring at her too.

For a moment, everything around me faded.

Then she spoke.

"I am Elsa," she said softly. "Let's go for a date."

My heart skipped.

But before I could respond—

A sudden pressure filled the air.

It was sharp. Powerful.

Someone strong was approaching.

Instinctively, I turned.

At that exact moment, another girl rushed forward at incredible speed, her face covered. She moved like the wind—

And passed right between us.

Elsa's expression changed instantly.

"Sorry… I don't have time," she said quickly.

The next second, the girl grabbed Elsa's hand.

Elsa looked back at me and shouted,

"What's your name?!"

"I'm Daniel!" I shouted back.

She smiled—just for a second.

Then both of them disappeared.

Gone.

"…What was that?" I muttered.

[System: That was a teleportation skill.]

[Your heart rate is returning to normal.]

I let out a slow breath.

"…She was really cute."

[System: ?]

"Nothing," I said quickly. "Show me the route to the Adventurer Guild."

I put on a black mask and began walking.

When I arrived at the Adventurer Guild, I approached the receptionist.

"I want to register as an adventurer."

Eura handed me a form without much interest, likely because of the mask.

I filled it out:

Name: Daniel

Age: 16

Class: Void

Level: 1

After handing it back, she nodded.

"Follow me."

She led me into a private room.

At the center of the room stood a single

object—

An orb.

"Place your hand on it," Eura said. "It will measure your elemental power."

I stepped forward.

Then placed my hand on the orb.

At first—

Nothing happened.

Then suddenly—

The orb turned black.

Not just dark…

Absolute black.

And in the very next second—

Everything changed.

The room vanished.

Darkness spread across the world.

The sky—

No… there was no sky anymore.

It was gone.

In its place…

Countless black holes.

Millions of them.

The entire universe… was being devoured.

The solar system itself was collapsing into endless darkness.

My breath stopped.

Far in the distance, I could see figures.

Human-like.

But not human.

They were pure darkness… beings that felt like the opposite of the sun itself.

I couldn't understand what I was seeing.

I couldn't even feel fear.

Only… emptiness.

Then—

From the orb—

A massive black hole emerged.

Growing.

Expanding.

Consuming everything.

Even me.

And in that moment…

I realized.

This…

This was my power.

Darkness swallowed me whole.

Then—

A presence.

Familiar.

Overwhelming.

"…Angella."

Her voice echoed.

"Reality… unreal."

Everything snapped back.

I was standing in the room again.

Eura was in front of me, looking normal—as if nothing had happened.

"Place your hand on the orb," she said.

My body trembled slightly.

"…System," I whispered. "Restrict my power completely."

I closed my eyes and placed my hand again.

This time—

The orb glowed faintly.

A controlled darkness.

Eura nodded.

"The test is complete. You have the Dark Element. A-Rank."

"…A-Rank?" I muttered in shock.

Even with full restriction…

That was the result?

[System: Restriction lifted.]

I stared at my hand.

Was that vision… real?

Or just a dream?

After receiving my Adventurer ID, I turned toward the exit.

"Daniel."

A voice echoed inside my mind.

I froze.

Slowly, I opened the door.

A garden.

Peaceful.

Beautiful.

At the center, a small coffee table.

Two chairs.

One of them… occupied.

The moment I stepped forward, my entire body relaxed.

My mind calmed.

A strange warmth filled my chest.

"Come here, Daniel."

I knew that voice.

I walked forward and sat down.

"…Angella."

I couldn't see her face.

Only light.

Pure light.

"Why did you do that?" she asked.

Fear crept into my heart.

"What did I do?"

"What you saw… was real."

My eyes widened.

"That was your power."

"…But you restricted me," I said. "How is that possible?"

"I did," she replied calmly. "But one god cannot fully restrain another."

Silence.

"You… are equal to my level."

My heart stopped.

"I saved the universe using a unique skill," she continued. "But it has a cooldown of 365 days. I cannot do it again."

"…Then why do I have this power?"

"Because your heart is filled with light," she said. "And where there is light… there is also darkness."

"The Void chose your darkness."

I clenched my fists.

"Then I'll control it."

"You must," she said. "Because light has limits… but darkness does not."

I took a deep breath.

"…Then how do I leave?"

She looked at me.

"You deserve punishment."

My expression froze.

"Go… and save the girl."

Before I could react—

She snapped her fingers.

The ground beneath me vanished.

I was falling.

Fast.

A forest rushed toward me.

"I'm going to die—!"

[System: Fatal fall detected. Activating survival measure.]

A portal opened beneath me.

I dropped straight into the Void Space.

I landed safely.

"…Nice," I muttered.

Then I exited.

Back in the forest.

"System… where are we?"

[Near a village.]

Then—

A scream.

A girl's voice.

"…This is it," I said.

I ran.

And when I arrived—

My eyes widened.

"…Elsa."

A monster lunged toward her.

"VOID GATE!"

In an instant—

It disappeared.

Erased.

The soldiers nearby froze, staring at the black flash.

I rushed forward.

My body suddenly felt heavy.

My vision blurred.

I collapsed in front of her.

Darkness.

"Nii-chan… wake up!"

A familiar voice pulled me out of the darkness.

I slowly opened my eyes.

Shily was standing beside my bed, gently shaking my shoulder.

"It's already 7 a.m. You'll be late for the academy," she said.

For a moment, I just stared at the ceiling, my mind still trapped between reality and the game.

"…So it wasn't a dream," I whispered.

I sat up slowly, running a hand through my hair.

"Also," Shily added, "someone is waiting for you outside."

I frowned. "Outside?"

She nodded. "A girl. She said she's the daughter of Joe."

That instantly cleared my thoughts.

I stood up and walked toward the window.

And there she was—

Standing on the road in front of the house, waiting calmly.

"…So it begins," I muttered quietly.
