Chapter 3 - The MC That Froze

Milo couldn't believe what he was seeing right in front of his eyes. He tried shaking his head sideways, trying to force himself to wake up from the bad dream, but nothing changed. He even tried pinching his thumb to see if the pain would finally do it, but no, it didn't change his fate either, because in front of him was something he had never expected to happen in his life, not even in a hundred years.

"That thing is gonna kill us, Milo fucken do something "

Jamie's scream jolted him back from his daydream of fear.

His words echoed all over the street as the beast in front of them began stretching itself again like a racer about to run a marathon. Blood covered its entire paw, with chunks of William's neck still stuck to it.

"Are you serious right now, am not a hunter yet, and didn't you see how fast it was."

Milo screamed back at him—not intentionally, but somehow every word he said turned into a scream the moment it left his mouth.

"What are you waiting for dumbbells, run already "

Sabrina's voice broke their quarrel from behind. She had already started running back, now three feet away from where the boys were standing. This was a matter of life and death after all—if they wasted their time talking, they would be killed without mercy, just like William.

Without any more time to waste, the boys turned back as well, starting to run, but as Milo was about to lift his foot, something awful happened.

No matter how much he tried to force his legs to move, they wouldn't budge at all. His legs felt stuck—frozen solid like a tree rooted deep in the ground, paralyzed by fear with no hope of ever moving.

Shit why now of all times, don't die on me now .

His inner conscious screamed at him, sweat completely covering his face in a matter of seconds, dropping down like raindrops on a Sunday afternoon.

The situation was chaotic as hell. His two friends were too afraid to realize that Milo wasn't running with them.

The destructive bloodlust coming from the beast behind him wrapped around him violently, like he was nothing more than prey already caught in a predator's grip.

He had gone hunting with his father before, killed a bunch of snakes on the way, and even come across other deadly animals that killed on sight—but none of that ever came close to what he was feeling that day.

Luckily as Jamie kept running, he finally realized something.

"Shit, we left him behind"

He turned around, only to see Milo completely frozen in place.

Sabrina overheard him too. She stopped as well, her feet dragging harshly against the tar road.

"What are you doing Milo, run you idiot !! "

She tried to scream at him, trying to pull him away from the fate waiting behind him, but the words didn't even reach his ears. Milo was locked in a psychological battle, fighting himself harder than anything else around him.

But jamie's words were the ones that broke through.

"Think about what your parents would feel if you died here, please snap out of it"

The thought stabbed straight into his chest, shattering the freezing grip around his body. His legs still felt heavy, but something else took over—something stronger.

Determination.

With everything in him, he forced his foot up.

A millisecond later, he finally moved.

The trio had finally started running.

It didn't take long for Milo to catch up to them—he was the fastest out of them after all.

With every passing second, the distance between them and the stretching beast increased, the mountain ahead slowly getting closer.

A spark of hope began to grow inside them. Maybe… just maybe they had a chance.

But just as quickly as the hope came, it shattered like glass.

The beast suddenly vanished from behind them without a sound and without a trace.

Then, in the next instant, the cheetah-like creature appeared right in front of them.

All of them stopped at once, completely breathless, their bodies locking up again as shock hit them.

"There is no way to run from this thing, we are going to die here "

Jamie muttered, like someone who had already accepted death.

The creature began walking toward them slowly, almost savoring the moment. It knew they had given up, that they understood there was no escaping it.

And somehow… that made it happy.

Even without a mouth, Milo could see it in its eyes.

The same look his father used to have right before killing a wild animal.

Just as everything seemed over, the three held onto each other, silently accepting what was about to happen.

Then—

A screen appeared in Sabrina's eyes.

[Successfully completed the Technique activation condition ]

[Special technique obtained : Teleportation > Go from one place to another in an instant

Cool down : 10 minutes ]

Sabrina flinched, jerking her head back like something had almost flown into her eye.

But nothing changed.

The screen was still there.

Her expression shifted—from fear… to confusion.

"Ahm,,, guys Can you see what am seeing ?"

She asked, her voice uncertain.

But judging from their fearful faces, they had no idea what she meant.

[Do you want to teleport

Yes or No ]

The options floated in front of her.

And in a situation like this… there was only one answer choose.

Suddenly.

The creature started moving faster like it sensed something was wrong. It leaped toward them leg first —

—but it was too late.

Sabrina had already made her choice.

"Everybody hold on"

In an instant, particles wrapped around their bodies, swallowing them whole as they vanished from the spot, leaving the creature behind.

.... ...

Particles began to reform near the toilet side where their journey had first started.

Slowly… piece by piece… their bodies came back together.

First the fingers formed, twitching slightly as they became solid again. Then the legs followed, reconnecting and stabilizing beneath them.

The rest of their bodies came after, filling in until they were whole again—standing there just as they had disappeared.

For a second, none of them moved.

Then panic kicked in.

Jamie and Milo immediately began touching their bodies, running their hands from head to toe, checking if everything was still there, as if expecting to find something missing.

"Am I dead…?" Jamie muttered, his voice filled with disbelief.

Sabrina took a deep breath, blinking a few times before answering, still trying to steady herself.

"No, you idiots… we teleported. Remember I told you I saw a screen in my eyes? It gave me an option to teleport, so that's what I did."

"Teleportation…" Milo repeated, the word sounding strange even to him. He rested his hands on his knees, trying to catch his breath. "Sounds like something from from video game."

Jamie was about to speak again when Sabrina cut in.

"We'll talk about that later. Our priority now is to go to the others and warn them about the alien," she said, her eyes scanning the road that led to the mountain, making sure the creature wasn't following them.

After a few nods, they started moving back toward the campsite.

Their bodies were still shaking from the encounter, so they walked carefully, each step slow and controlled to keep themselves from collapsing.

But something bothered Milo as they moved.

Telling the other students what happened wouldn't be as easy as it sounded.

What if they don't believe us and think that we are trying to prank them or something.

The question stayed in his mind, heavy and persistent. The only way to know it's answer was to confront the others. So he pushed it out of his mind and left it all to fate.

When they finally arrived, the campground was silent.

More than what you would expect from a place filled with teens.

The three of them couldn't explain it, but they felt it instantly.

Something was deeply wrong with campgrounds.

They kept moving forward, slower now, more cautious.

As they got closer enough to the tents, they finally saw it.

Bodies of the students were everywhere, scattered across the campground like clothes in a boys hostel room.
