Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 : after party ?

Cold.

That was the first thing I felt.

Not the biting cold of winter, nor the chill of a night breeze—but something deeper. A hollow, unnatural cold that seemed to seep into my very existence.

Then came awareness.

I opened my eyes.

Or at least… I tried to.

For a moment, nothing changed. Darkness stretched endlessly in every direction, thick and suffocating, as if I were trapped in a void without form or meaning. I couldn't tell if my eyes were open or closed. I couldn't even feel my own body.

A flicker of panic rose within me.

Was I… dead?

The thought should have terrified me more than it did. But instead, it felt distant—like an idea I couldn't fully grasp. My mind was slow, heavy, struggling to piece things together.

Then, like a crack in the darkness, Light appeared.

A faint glow at first, hovering somewhere in front of me. It pulsed gently, like a heartbeat, growing brighter with each passing second.

And as it did… I felt something return.

My hands. My breath. My weight.

I gasped sharply as air rushed into my lungs. My body lurched forward, and suddenly, I was there—kneeling on a cold, smooth surface that seemed to stretch infinitely beneath me.

"What… is this…?"

My voice echoed strangely, as if the space itself didn't know how to carry sound.

I pushed myself up, unsteady, my legs trembling like I hadn't used them in years. The darkness was still there, endless and suffocating—but now it had depth. Now it felt real.

And that glow…

It was right in front of me.

Floating. Waiting.

I stared at it, my heart pounding.

Then.

[System Initialization Complete]

The words appeared out of nowhere.

No… not appeared.

They existed.

Bright, sharp, and impossibly clear, hovering in the air like they had always been there.

I froze.

"…What?"

[Welcome, User.]

The glow pulsed once.

My breath caught in my throat.

User?

"What is this?" I demanded, my voice shaky but rising. "Where am I? What is going on?"

For a moment, nothing happened.

Then the light expanded, stretching into a thin, translucent panel in front of me. Lines of text began forming rapidly, each one precise and cold.

[System Interface Activated]

Name: UnknownStatus: DeceasedState: Soul Form (Stabilized)

My eyes locked onto one word.

Deceased.

"…No."

The memory hit me like a hammer.

The voices.

The betrayal.

The pain.

My chest tightened as the realization crashed down on me.

"I… died…"

The void didn't respond.

The system did.

[Confirmation: User has entered Post-Life Domain.]

Post… life?

I let out a hollow laugh, running a hand through my hair—only to pause. It felt real. Too real.

"This doesn't make any sense…" I muttered. "If I'm dead… then what is this place?"

The system responded instantly.

[This is a transitional plane between life and afterlife. Designation: Initialization Zone.]

"Initialization…?"

[Correct. This is where all qualified entities receive system integration.]

I stared at the floating text, my mind racing.

"Qualified…? System integration?"

None of it sounded real. It sounded like something out of a game.

Or a dream.

But the cold beneath my feet felt real. The air in my lungs felt real.

And the memory of dying…

That felt the most real of all.

"…So what?" I said slowly. "You're telling me I died… and now I'm in some kind of… system?"

A brief pause.

Then.

[Affirmative.]

Silence followed.

I looked around the endless darkness again, trying to find something, anything, that made sense.

There was nothing.

Just me.

And the system.

"…What happens now?"

The panel flickered.

For the first time, something changed.

The glow intensified, and new lines of text appeared—sharper, more defined.

[Beginning User Synchronization…]

[Assigning Base Attributes…][Generating Initial Skill Set…]

A sudden pressure built inside my head.

I winced, grabbing it as a flood of information forced its way into my mind. Words, concepts, instincts, things I didn't learn, but somehow knew.

Levels.

Stats.

Skills.

Growth.

A system… that governed everything.

I gasped, dropping to one knee as the process continued.

"What… is this…?"

[System provides users with the means to evolve beyond standard limitations.]

My vision blurred.

[Strength can be increased.][Abilities can be acquired.][Limits can be broken.]

My heart pounded harder with each word.

"…Why me?" I whispered.

For a moment—no answer came.

Then, slowly.

[Condition Met.]

That was it.

No explanation. No reasoning.

Just… Condition Met.

I let out a shaky breath, forcing myself to stand again.

"…So I don't get a choice?"

[Choice acknowledged.]

I blinked.

"What?"

[Proceed or Terminate.]

Two options appeared in front of me.

Simple.

Brutal.

> Proceed> Terminate

My eyes locked onto them.

Terminate…

Was that death?

Again?

Or something worse?

I clenched my fists.

I had died once already. Powerless. Caught off guard.

I wasn't going to end like that again.

Not here.

Not now.

Slowly, I raised my hand.

"…I'll play."

My finger moved toward the glowing option.

Proceed.

The moment I selected it, The world shattered.
