"Everyone's heard the announcement." Arya rinsed the pot and the cloth, then turned off the water. She set the pot in the drying rack. She picked the clothes. She set it down again. Her hands couldn't seem to settle on anything. "It's all anyone can talk about. The great mystery of how an omega managed to—"
"Stop."
The word wasn't loud. It wasn't sharp. But it cut through Arya's rambling, and she stopped.
Arya turned to find Ronnie leaning against the counter opposite her, arms crossed and expression unreadable.
Ronnie's jaw worked for a moment. She did not need Arya to explain anything because she already knew. She had seen this before. The way Arya was standing. The way she was avoiding looking at her. The way Arya was pretending to clean things that are already clean.
This was the time Arya only talked about Vael. About how unfair it was that Vael wasn't seeing her.
