Chapter 5: The Light That Shouldn't Exist
The fall felt endless.
Ajay, Sammy, and Rehan didn't even realize when the ground disappeared beneath their feet. One moment they were running… the next, darkness swallowed them whole.
And then—
THUD.
They hit solid ground.
For a few seconds, no one moved.
No one spoke.
Only their heavy breathing echoed in the strange, enclosed space.
"Is… is everyone okay?" Sammy finally whispered.
"Yeah…" Ajay replied, wincing. "I think so."
Rehan sat up slowly. His eyes were still filled with shock—not just from the fall… but from what he had just seen.
His father.
Fighting that entity.
Protecting them.
And then… disappearing forever.
"He wasn't trying to hurt us…" Rehan said softly, almost to himself. "He was saving us."
Silence followed.
This time, it wasn't fear.
It was grief.
The Room Where Darkness Could Not Enter
Ajay looked around.
"This place… it's different."
The room was circular. The walls were carved with symbols—ancient, unfamiliar, yet strangely precise. In the center of the room lay scattered stones… dozens of them. Each one glowing faintly, as if holding a piece of trapped light.
Sammy frowned. "Why didn't that thing follow us here?"
Rehan stood up, touching the wall carefully.
"It can't."
"Why?" Ajay asked.
Rehan pointed at the symbols.
"These… they're not random. My dad used to talk about something like this… a barrier."
"A barrier?" Sammy repeated.
Rehan nodded. "A protective field. Not physical… but energy-based. It blocks things that don't belong to this world."
Ajay's eyes widened. "You mean… that entity…"
"Is not fully from our world," Rehan completed.
A cold realization settled between them.
This wasn't just a haunted house.
This was something much bigger.
The Puzzle of Stones
Sammy walked toward the glowing stones.
"Guys… look at these."
Each stone had a different symbol carved into it.
Triangles. Circles. Lines intersecting in impossible ways.
Ajay noticed something.
"Wait… the wall has empty slots."
They all turned.
Embedded in the wall were small spaces—perfectly shaped to fit the stones.
"A puzzle," Sammy said.
Rehan took a deep breath. "Or a test."
They began.
One by one, they picked up the stones, matching symbols, trying combinations.
At first—nothing.
Then—
CLICK.
A soft sound echoed.
"Did you hear that?" Ajay said.
They kept going.
Some stones felt warm. Others icy cold. One even vibrated slightly in Rehan's hand.
Minutes felt like hours.
Every wrong placement made the room hum in a low, warning tone.
Every correct one brought them closer to something… unknown.
Finally—
THUD.
The entire wall shook.
A section of it slowly slid open.
Behind it—
A narrow passage.
Dark.
Waiting.
The Path of Trials
They entered.
The air inside was colder.
Sharper.
The passage wasn't straight—it twisted, turned, split into smaller paths. Some led to dead ends. Some triggered hidden traps.
A sudden drop beneath Sammy's feet.
A wall of spikes that shot out without warning.
A floor that cracked under pressure.
"Who built this?!" Sammy shouted.
Rehan's voice echoed, breathless.
"My dad… wasn't just hiding secrets. He was protecting something."
Or maybe…
Keeping something locked away.
The Weapon of Light
At the end of the passage—
They found it.
A chamber.
And in the center—
A sword.
But it didn't look ordinary.
Its blade shimmered—not like metal… but like condensed light. It pulsed softly, as if alive.
Ajay stepped closer.
Beside it, words were carved into stone:
"Only light can end what darkness began."
Sammy read further.
"To defeat it—
You must weaken it.
Distract it.
And strike when it sees you… but you see its truth."
Ajay frowned. "How do we even see it? Half the time it's invisible!"
Sammy froze.
Then said slowly—
"The red chilli…"
"What?" Rehan asked.
"That time… when it attacked us… the chilli powder—remember? For a second, we could see its outline."
Ajay's eyes widened.
"You're right…"
Sammy nodded. "There's something in it. Maybe it reacts with whatever that thing is made of."
Rehan picked up the sword.
"So we make it visible… weaken it with light… and then end it."
Simple.
But terrifying.
The War Against Darkness
They returned.
Not as scared kids anymore.
But as fighters.
The house had changed again.
Darkness spread everywhere.
Lights flickered… then died.
"Electricity won't work," Ajay said. "It controls it."
Rehan clenched the sword.
"Then we use something else."
They gathered everything they could—
Candles.
Oil lamps.
Anything that could burn.
Fire.
Real light.
They lit them.
Dozens.
Hundreds.
The house slowly filled with a golden glow.
And then—
It appeared.
At first, just a distortion.
Then clearer—
Because Sammy threw the red chilli mixture.
A scream echoed.
Not human.
Not anything natural.
And for the first time—
They saw it.
Its true form.
Twisted.
Shifting.
Wrong.
"NOW!" Rehan shouted.
Ajay and Sammy distracted it—throwing light, fire, anything to keep it unstable.
It weakened.
Its movements slowed.
Rehan ran forward.
The sword glowing brighter with every step.
The entity turned.
Saw him.
And lunged.
But—
Rehan didn't stop.
He struck.
The blade passed through it—
And the light exploded.
A blinding flash.
A sound like reality tearing apart.
And then—
Silence.
After the End… Or Not
The house was quiet.
Normal.
Too normal.
They walked out.
Alive.
The villagers gathered.
Shock turned into disbelief.
Disbelief turned into awe.
They told everything.
Every detail.
Every truth.
Their parents ran to them—tears, relief, happiness.
Rehan hugged his family tightly.
"He saved us…" he whispered. "Papa saved us."
From that day—
They weren't just kids anymore.
They were heroes.
The ones who ended the darkness.
But… Something Remained
That night—
As they walked away from the house for the last time—
Ajay stopped.
"Do you feel that?" he asked.
Sammy nodded slowly.
Rehan turned back.
The house stood still.
Silent.
Empty.
But for a brief second—
In one broken window—
Something moved.
A shadow.
Watching.
Waiting.
And then—
Gone.
Rehan looked away.
"Maybe it's over," he said.
But deep inside—
None of them believed that.
Because some darkness…
Doesn't die.
It just waits.
End of Chapter ..... really?? 💀🧐
But that wasn't the last thing.
That night, when everything seemed finally over, Rehan woke up suddenly.
His room was dark.
Too dark.
He looked around, trying to calm himself, thinking it was just a nightmare.
Then he noticed something strange.
The window was slightly open.
And the curtain… was moving.
But there was no wind.
Rehan sat up slowly, his heart beating faster.
"Who's there?" he whispered.
No answer.
Just silence.
Then—
For a split second—
He saw it.
Not clearly.
Not fully.
But enough.
A faint, distorted shape standing near the window.
Watching him.
Unmoving.
Unblinking.
Rehan froze.
And before he could even react—
It disappeared.
The room returned to normal.
Everything looked fine.
Everything felt fine.
But one thing was certain now.
The story wasn't over.
Because whatever that entity was…
It hadn't been completely destroyed.
It had just… learned to hide better.
And here the ch ends with lots of questions that if the entity is not alive anymore then what is that presence that Rehan was feeling ....
