Chapter 647: An Egg Composed of Hell, Devils, Chainsaw Man, and Reincarnators!
Shinobu Kocho: "? What's going on?"
Ch'en Sir: "Tsk, you should ask Exusiai. These Penguin Logistics guys can't stay honest for a second, always causing trouble."
Inside the Longmen Guard Bureau.
Ch'en Sir's sharp eyes glared at Exusiai, the heat of her gaze almost enough to scorch the air between them. The usually lively Sankta was uncharacteristically subdued.
"Uh..."
Exusiai, sitting on a chair with Texas and a few others, awkwardly shrank her head. The fluorescent lights of the interrogation room buzzed ominously overhead.
Their Penguin Logistics had caused trouble again—a "minor logistics dispute" that involved three city blocks and a high-speed chase—and then they were caught by Ch'en Sir and brought to the Guard Bureau for tea. Or rather, for a lecture that felt longer than an epoch.
Ais: "Doomsday Companion, is that the way to gain doomsday points to become stronger?"
Vivi: "That's right, participating in Doomsday Companion and ending the doomsday allows you to gain doomsday points to improve your abilities or draw from the roulette."
Ais: "Do we go directly?"
As long as it involved becoming stronger, Ais became serious. Her golden eyes narrowed with determination. She needed power—to protect, to avenge, to understand.
Ren: "Just confirm when you're ready. After you leave, your world will also enter a state of time stagnation, so don't worry about other issues."
Skadi: "Time... stagnation..."
Ch'en Sir: "This Aegir person, feel free to confirm."
Back in the opulent bedroom, Ren stood up and got out of bed. His movement was fluid, the sheets slipping off his form to reveal the sculpted muscles underneath.
As he moved, the exercise equipment in the room—specifically a custom-made wooden horse—was still swaying slightly, a rhythmic creaking that echoed in the sudden silence. The sound drew the gaze of Lia and the others, their cheeks flushing at the memory of its use.
Ren looked at them and gave a mischievous smile, his eyes twinkling with a mix of affection and teasing. "I'm going to another world for a trip. Aren't you going to give me a farewell ceremony? I served you very well just now, didn't I?"
"Other worlds?"
Everyone looked at each other, the lingering haze of pleasure momentarily replaced by curiosity and concern.
"Ren, are you going to save the world again?" Lia asked, pulling the sheet higher to cover her bare shoulders.
"Yes, there are some issues a friend needs help with."
"A farewell ceremony… how should we do it?" Shizuka Marikawa tilted her head, her blonde hair cascading messily over her face. Her innocence was a stark contrast to the disarray of the room.
The others hadn't thought of anything either. They were still reeling from the intensity of the "exercise."
But Saeko Busujima was the first to act. Her loyalty and devotion were as sharp as her blade.
She gently crawled in front of Ren, moving with the grace of a predator. She knelt with her legs bent, her posture submissive yet bold, and then slowly kissed the exercise equipment she had used with her rosy lips. It was a silent vow, a mark of ownership and surrender.
"!!!"
The others were startled by her action. Saeko's boldness was always a shock to the system.
Then Lia also quickly crawled over and did the same. She wouldn't be outdone. If Saeko was the sword, she was the shield, equally devoted.
In this situation… although shy, they had no choice but to do it. It was a ritual, a shared secret among sisters-in-arms.
Even Saya struggled to get up and complete the farewell ceremony. Her legs trembled, her stamina depleted, but her pride refused to let her be left out.
Then she wiped her dry lips with a look of feigned disgust, yet worriedly mumbled, "You bad guy, come back safely." Her tsundere nature couldn't hide the genuine fear in her eyes.
Ren smiled and pinched her small lips, feeling the warmth of her breath. "Don't worry, when I come back, I'll have to properly develop you. Your endurance needs work."
"Develop?"
Saya's eyes widened in confusion and a hint of panic. Develop what?
However, Ren had already disappeared from their sight, vanishing into a ripple of spatial distortion.
"Develop what?" She looked at the others with confusion, seeking an answer she probably didn't want to hear.
"..."
Except for Alice, who was blissfully ignorant, the others all looked at her butt in unison. The silent consensus was deafening.
...
A spatial wormhole opened, a swirling vortex of light and energy tearing through the fabric of reality. Ren, having changed from being naked into a refreshing black outfit that hugged his frame, stepped out into Makima's world.
The air here was heavy, thick with the scent of ozone and fear.
"Ren, you're late."
Exusiai, with a halo above her head glowing softly in the gloom, smiled and waved at Ren. Her red hair was a bright spot in the monochrome landscape.
"A few little gluttons at home, so I was a bit late."
After Ren briefly explained, his gaze swept over Ais and Skadi.
Both of them had expressionless faces, but their looks and figures were indeed very good. Ais stood with the poise of a seasoned warrior, her hand resting on the hilt of her sword. Skadi, the walking calamity, exuded an aura of silent power, her red eyes scanning the unfamiliar surroundings.
"Another one? What exactly are you guys?"
Himeno narrowed her eye, her hand drifting towards her cigarettes. She was ready to fight at any moment, her Ghost Devil contract humming under her skin.
"Angel Devil?"
Exusiai, with her halo and wings of light.
"Dragon Human Devil?"
Ch'en, with her horns and tail, radiating authority.
"Blonde Devil?"
Ais, golden-haired and fierce.
"White-haired Red-eyed Devil?"
Skadi, pale as the moon and just as distant.
"Black-haired Golden-eyed Devil?"
Ren, the enigma at the center of it all.
These five people all appeared from strange spaces; they didn't look human at all. To Himeno's experienced eyes, they were anomalies, threats.
Power, out of instinct, became wary of Ren. The Blood Devil inside her recoiled.
An inexplicable fear caused the Blood Devil to tremble. This man... he smelled of death on a scale she couldn't comprehend. He was an apex predator in human skin.
"Master."
However, Makima's sudden respectful address astonished her three subordinates. The Control Devil, who bowed to no one, was lowering her head.
"Master?"
Himeno looked at Ren, her cigarette freezing halfway to her mouth.
Makima's address was undoubtedly directed at this man. The implication was terrifying. If Makima served him, what kind of monster was he?
"Yes, you've done very well."
Ren merely nodded in acknowledgment, accepting her submission as naturally as breathing.
"Done very well" was about Power and Himeno. He had asked for interesting individuals, and she had delivered.
But what surprised him slightly was Higashiyama Kobeni and Reze. Reze was leashed, a literal collar around her neck, controlled by Makima. Kobeni was trembling in the corner, looking like she wanted to merge with the wallpaper.
"Ren, the situation outside seems very bad."
Ch'en's expression was grave. She walked to the window, looking out at the city.
The world seemed to be shrouded in evil darkness and twisted fear, with no light left. The sky was a bruised purple, and the shadows stretched long and hungry.
"Clang!"
Ais suddenly drew her sword, the metal singing as it left the scabbard. Her senses, honed in the Dungeon, screamed of danger.
"Do you want to fight?"
Although Skadi didn't know what was happening, there was no deep-sea aura, so there was no need to pick up a weapon immediately. But her hand twitched, ready to summon her greatsword.
"The enemy is that expanding guy, right? Is it indigestion?"
Light condensed into two guns in Exusiai's hands. The Vector submachine guns materialized from pure energy.
Even with the Power of infinite angels, she still couldn't forget her guns. Old habits died hard.
However, the expanding and 'indigesting' guy she mentioned was the key point.
Ren's eyes flashed, turning a deep, swirling gold. He snapped his fingers.
Snap.
Then everyone in the office disappeared. The transition was instant, a blink of existence.
When they reappeared, everyone was in mid-air above a place shrouded in darkness and bizarre crystals. The ground below was a landscape of nightmares, twisted and alien.
"What's going on? Where is this?!"
Higashiyama Kobeni thought she was going to fall from the sky and screamed, flailing her arms. She quickly hugged Power, clinging to the fiend like a lifeline.
"Hey! Your hand is in my nostril!" Power yelled, trying to pry the terrified girl off.
"..."
Himeno had too many questions. Her mind was racing.
But the devil she had contracted with was gone! The Ghost Devil was silent.
That was her most pressing concern at the moment. Without her contract, she was vulnerable.
Not only that.
Power's horns were also gone. The red protrusions had vanished, leaving her looking almost human.
But in an instant, they seemed to no longer care about this matter. A strange apathy washed over them, a side effect of the spatial transfer.
Makima's body also seemed to be pulled by something, an invisible force dragging her towards the center of the chaos. She only stopped her abnormal movement when Ren placed his hand on her shoulder, grounding her.
"What is that thing? Something very terrifying is brewing inside."
Ais looked extremely serious. Her sword pointed downwards.
Her gaze was fixed on a pulsating black and red sphere below. It beat like a heart, a grotesque organ of pure malice.
That was also the enemy Exusiai had discovered.
"Chain Saw Devil."
Makima coldly uttered the name. It wasn't reverence; it was recognition.
"Isn't the Chain Saw Devil one of our enemies?"
Ch'en still remembered the goal of Doomsday Companion. The briefing had been clear.
The Chain Saw Devil corrupted by memes, and the Reincarnators.
"Actually, our targets are all inside that egg."
Ren looked at the egg with interest. He could see through the layers of reality, see the twisted amalgamation within.
"Don't make a move, I want this egg to hatch."
The reason it was called an egg was simple.
Was because inside the egg, formed of hell and fear, were Reincarnators, the Chain Saw Devil, and the devils that the Chain Saw Devil had swallowed from the root of hell…
Even the most powerful root devils! It was a cocktail of apocalypse, brewing to perfection.
