Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Mommy Doesn't Love You Anymore

On a weekend morning, Alex was sleeping comfortably when he suddenly felt an itch on his face—someone was messing with him.

He thought it was Freya pranking him. He sniffed and smelled a girl's fragrance. Early in the morning, his temper was a bit high, so he grabbed Freya's hand all of a sudden.

"Ah..."

The girl let out a startled cry.

Alex felt the voice wasn't right. He opened his eyes and discovered it was Kiara sitting beside him. She was supporting herself on the bed with one hand, leaning forward, and holding a lock of her own hair with the other—the hand that Alex was currently gripping tightly.

The girl's cheeks were a bit red. Her eyes were flustered and lost, looking at him with shyness and timidity. After a while, she looked at her trapped hand, wanting to say something but stopping herself.

"Oh, it's Xiao Fu. I thought it was some stray kitten that liked to prank people so much."

Alex smiled while nonchalantly releasing her hand.

Kiara breathed a sigh of relief. Seeing him teasing her, she couldn't help but feel a bit shy and annoyed.

"You're the kitten! No, wait, you're a little pig, a sleepy little pig. The sun is already shining on your butt, and you're still not getting up."

As she spoke, she started laughing herself. Her laughter was as melodious and crisp as a lark, bringing a sense of tranquility.

Alex sat up, stretched, and said lazily, "That's because no one called me to get up. I don't know who said they would wake me up on time every day. What time is it now?"

Kiara was very embarrassed, "Today is a holiday; who would call you so early?"

Recalling the strange look in Sister Feiyan's eyes when she first walked in, Kiara suddenly felt a sense of panic in her heart, as if she had violated some taboo.

She didn't want Alex to tease her anymore, so she quickly urged him, "Get up quickly. You still have a lot of practice problems to do. Today, I'm going to supervise your studying!"

She put her hands on her hips proudly.

Alex sighed. A beautiful day ended the moment Kiara said that. Thinking of that pile of practice problems, Alex gritted his teeth in hatred. It was all that woman An Suling's fault.

Seeing Alex deflated, Kiara found it interesting. She cunningly continued to urge him, lifting her chin and saying crisply, "What's wrong? Don't want to study? Who said they wanted to turn over a new leaf? Hurry up and get up!"

Alex glanced at her and said, "Getting up is no problem, but can you go out first? I need to get dressed."

"Aren't you already wearing clothes?"

Kiara asked curiously, looking at Alex. She saw him sitting on the bed, his clothes worn properly, with a quilt covering him from the waist down.

Before entering, Kiara had specifically confirmed before coming in. She wouldn't enter a boy's room if he wasn't wearing clothes. As for why she wasn't shy about entering Alex's room, it was, of course, because they were childhood sweethearts. Wasn't this kind of thing very normal?

Come to think of it, Xiao Ke actually sleeps in his clothes, unlike me, uh...

The girl's face heated up, and she quickly stopped thinking about such embarrassing things.

Alex smiled and pointed downward with his finger, "I'm wearing clothes on top, but not on the bottom."

"Ah!" Kiara was dumbfounded, her fair, pretty face instantly turning red. She froze for a moment, then whispered in shy annoyance, "Xiao Ke is a pervert." After saying that, she rushed out of the room.

Not long after running out of the room, Kiara dove headfirst into a soft embrace. She felt her face being smothered by something incredibly magnificent, and the impact of the plumpness made her head feel a bit dizzy.

She finally struggled free, but was startled. She quickly withdrew her hand that was pressed against Freya's chest and said apologetically, "Sister Feiyan, why are you standing here?"

Freya gave a forced smile and said, "Um, I came to call you guys for breakfast."

"Oh, then I'll go down first. Xiao Ke is already awake."

Kiara breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this. She had thought Freya came over on purpose to eavesdrop. She had heard that many parents didn't like their children dating early. Although Kiara felt she and Alex had a very pure friendship, what if Freya didn't think so?

Kiara felt that next time she shouldn't be so reckless about entering Alex's room. If it weren't for her reminiscing about childhood, she wouldn't have suddenly done that.

Watching Kiara go downstairs, Freya turned her gaze toward Alex's room.

At this moment, Alex was in a good mood. Teasing a big loli was just fun; perhaps a weekend surrounded by practice problems wasn't so hard to endure after all.

He lifted the quilt and was about to get out of bed when he suddenly felt a ghostly gaze staring at him.

He looked up and saw Freya poking half her head out from outside the door, staring at him without blinking.

Alex's eyelid twitched. He nonchalantly retracted the lower half of his body back into the quilt and asked, "What's wrong?"

Freya pouted, regretting that she hadn't seen anything. However, seeing the suspicion in Alex's eyes, she forgot why she had come upstairs and said nervously, "I came to call you to eat. Get up quickly."

After saying that, she slipped away.

After breakfast, Kiara and Alex left home, planning to find a place outside to study. With Freya at home, Alex and Kiara weren't very comfortable.

Freya sulked to herself. She had wanted to follow them, but remembering An Suling's warning, she didn't dare to go out on her own and could only punch her pillow in her room to vent her anger.

"Stupid Alex, if you don't come back soon, Mommy won't love you anymore."

The City Library was a place Kiara often frequented. Today, she brought Alex here. The two found a secluded spot in a corner and began their study journey for the day.

Kiara was a diligent and hardworking child when it came to studying. After telling Alex to do his problems, she took out a large stack of test papers and started reading them.

Alex would sometimes ask her questions, and she would explain them in a low voice. Time passed quietly.

Don't know how much time had passed, Alex put down a workbook and looked around helplessly. He finally understood why Kiara wanted to bring him here.

The library was a quiet place where everyone was reading with focus. If your voice was a little too loud, it would attract dissatisfied gazes from others.

Alex didn't have much interest in studying, but having a beautiful girl like Kiara with him felt pretty good. However, because they couldn't talk frequently, besides asking Kiara some questions about his studies, he couldn't chat about other topics and could only focus his mind on reading and studying.

But as time went on, Alex felt a bit bored.

He looked up at Kiara. The girl had put on a pair of red-rimmed glasses and was reading carefully. She looked gentle and refined, quite appetizing.

Alex rubbed his stomach and reminded her, "Xiao Fu, it's time for lunch."

Kiara woke up from the sea of problems upon hearing this and rolled her eyes at him, "It's only ten o'clock. Who eats lunch this early?"

"But I'm hungry." Alex said with a serious face, "And it's not good to keep staring at books. Look, you're already getting nearsighted; be careful about increasing your prescription."

Kiara hesitated for a moment. Perhaps the part about increasing your prescription concerned her quite a bit. After considering it for a while, she put down her book, a look of hesitation flashing across her face, and said, "Why don't we go out for a walk? Eating lunch this early isn't good, and I'm not very hungry yet."

She spoke while rubbing her little tummy.

Alex remembered she hadn't eaten much in the morning; it was impossible for her not to be hungry. She was probably dieting.

Kiara's words were exactly what he wanted. After sitting for two hours, he was truly bored to death and really wanted to walk around.

The two left the library and wandered aimlessly.

Alex had thought that as a local, Kiara would take him to some interesting places. However, he hadn't expected that she seemed to know nothing about the city, timidly following by his side and curiously looking around.

Even more exaggerated was that even when Chen Luoqiu saw candied haws on the side of the road, her eyes would light up, and when she saw exotic snacks like scorpions and bugs, she would let out a small cry of surprise, her mouth forming an "O" shape.

Although she was very cute, could this girl be a bookworm who had never been out to play? Poor thing.

There was no help for it; Alex decided to take the lead.

"Boss, two skewers of candied haws."

"Okay."

The candied haws in hand, Alex handed a skewer to Kiara. She took it curiously, leaned in, stuck out her tongue to lick it, then narrowed her eyes with an expression of enjoyment.

Alex also licked his lips, his gaze landing on the girl's pink, tender lips.

Kiara opened her eyes and said happily, "It's so sweet. Is this what candied haws are? Huh, your skewer seems different from mine."
