Chapter 182 - Chapter 51: Speculation

After all, Yomi Isayama and Noriyuki Iizuna had already explained that once humanity learned of the existence of yokai, it would inevitably cause massive upheaval. Large numbers of yokai would be born from fear and terror, greatly increasing the overall strength of the yokai.

Hagoromo-Gitsune's invasion of Tokyo and her plan to stage a Night Parade of a Hundred Demons were obviously preparations to expose the existence of yokai.

Once the yokai grew stronger, she would carry out Abe no Seimei's orders, attempt to exterminate humanity once again, and establish a world belonging to yokai.

Of course, with Hagoromo-Gitsune's strength, exterminating all humanity was probably impossible.

Even Abe no Seimei could not accomplish that.

But exterminating the humans of Japan and establishing a country inhabited only by yokai did not seem entirely impossible.

Regarding this, Rowan could only say that Abe no Seimei had some serious problems with his brain.

Didn't he understand that even if a yokai nation were successfully established, it would still attract the attention of other countries?

If all the humans in Japan were truly wiped out, the other nations would absolutely not hesitate to carpet-bomb Japan with nuclear weapons.

How many yokai could survive something like that?

The saying that all beings were equal beneath a nuclear explosion was no joke. Radiance comparable to the sun would be enough to annihilate every yokai.

Or perhaps physical attacks were useless against yokai?

Maybe only supernatural power could harm them.

But even then, the yokai would not have the advantage.

Science and exorcism had never been two parallel lines that did not intersect. For example, the Supernatural Disaster Countermeasures Division had a special unit known as the Ministry of Defense's Supernatural Disaster Countermeasures Headquarters, Special Tactical Unit!

Although the entire unit was wiped out by Yomi Isayama after she transformed into a vengeful spirit almost immediately after their debut,

there was no doubt that they were all well-equipped modern special forces soldiers.

Every weapon they used had been modified into modern armaments capable of killing evil spirits.

This was enough to prove that once altered appropriately, modern weapons could also kill spirits and yokai.

That meant modern firepower was capable of eliminating yokai, and nuclear bombardment would likewise have a tremendous effect.

Under such circumstances, how did Abe no Seimei dare to exterminate an entire country's human population and establish a nation of yokai?

Or perhaps Rowan had actually underestimated Abe no Seimei.

Maybe the people he wanted to eliminate had never been limited to Japan.

Maybe he wanted to exterminate humanity across the entire world.

Only after every human on Earth had died would Abe no Seimei dare build a world belonging to yokai upon the ruins.

That raised another question.

Abe no Seimei was powerful, certainly, but only by Japanese standards. In this world, he could not even be counted among the first tier of powerhouses. At most, he belonged to the second tier.

What gave him the confidence to exterminate humanity worldwide?

Was it because this was a crossover anime world where every important plot happened in Japan?

Were there no supernatural beings anywhere else in the world outside Japan?

What nonsense.

If that were true, then considering the nature of the Japanese people, they would have conquered the entire world long ago. A bunch of people who obsessed over trivial etiquette while lacking any sense of greater righteousness—did anyone really expect them to be decent?

At that moment, Rowan suddenly remembered that this world had fused with Ga-Rei, and Ga-Rei contained one particularly unusual setting.

The Seventeen Naraku.

The Naraku here did not refer to the yokai Naraku from Inuyasha, but to an extinction plan—more accurately, the materialized manifestation of a supernatural system designed to lead humanity toward destruction.

They did not refer to seventeen independent individuals. Instead, near the end of the story, seventeen enormous catastrophic pits known as "Naraku" appeared around the world.

These pits were sources of vengeful spirits, constantly spewing out vast numbers of evil spirits and driving the world toward destruction.

At the site of each Naraku, a unique guardian or symbolic entity would manifest, combining local mythology, history, and cultural symbols.

Japan had Asura. The great eastern nation had Qin Shi Huang. India had the elephant-headed god Ganesha. Egypt had the god of death, Anubis. Turkey had the Trojan Horse. Russia had a Matryoshka doll. Italy had Julius Caesar. Britain had the Red Queen, Elizabeth. America had the Angel of Death, the Statue of Liberty. Mexico had Tezcatlipoca…

Simply put, the Seventeen Naraku could be understood as abysses of despair appearing simultaneously across the world, each capable of destroying humanity.

If something like that truly appeared, it might actually give humanity a serious beating.

So was that Abe no Seimei's plan?

With his strength alone, exterminating all humanity was impossible. But if he caused the Seventeen Naraku to appear, perhaps it could be done.

And if he truly succeeded, what would happen?

Caught completely unprepared, humanity might genuinely suffer a devastating blow.

At that time, the entire world would be filled with death, disaster, fear, and chaos. No one knew how many yokai and cursed spirits would be born from it.

Then Abe no Seimei could raise his arm and rally them, delivering humanity the final, fatal blow.

That scene would be simply…

Although all of this was merely Rowan's speculation, he felt that his guess might not be wrong.

If that were truly the case, then Rowan could only say that Abe no Seimei was an absolute piece of shit who had abandoned all humanity.

Even slicing him apart with a thousand cuts would not be enough. In fact, even ten thousand cuts might not relieve the hatred he deserved.

During dinner, Rowan shared his speculation with Nero, Medea, and Serie.

Medea silently listened to the entire theory before slowly asking, "And what does any of this have to do with you, Master?"

Rowan said, "Actually, I've thought about that too. I'm not from this world. What does Abe no Seimei destroying this world have to do with me? I can leave whenever I want."

"No matter how incredible Abe no Seimei is, he can't do anything to me."

"I only came here as a tourist."

"They can't expect me to save the world every single time."

Medea hummed while eating her steak, gesturing for him to continue.

I'm listening.

Rowan smiled bitterly and said, "But I can't convince myself to ignore it. If Abe no Seimei only wanted to destroy this country, I wouldn't care. But he wants to destroy the world, including that great eastern nation."

"Although this isn't my world and that country isn't my homeland, it is still China."

"For that reason alone, I can't stand by and do nothing."

Medea looked at Rowan with a smile.

"You've said so much, Master, but you still haven't explained what you intend to do."

"My plan?"

Rowan said, "My plan is simple. We beat the hell out of them!"

Medea said, "But everything you just said is merely speculation."

"Doesn't matter."

Rowan said frankly, "Although I like reasoning with people, I occasionally don't mind being unreasonable."

"Since Hagoromo-Gitsune wants to exterminate humanity, then it's perfectly reasonable for me to want to exterminate Hagoromo-Gitsune, right?"

Nero could not help bursting into laughter.

"Umu! Perfectly reasonable! Truly, perfectly reasonable, Praetor! I support you. Let us make a magnificent spectacle of it!"

Medea smiled faintly.

"Conveniently enough, I need a large number of yokai for experimentation. Hagoromo-Gitsune and her subordinates would make excellent specimens."

Serie calmly said, "I have no objections. You decide."

Rowan snapped his fingers.

"Then it's settled. Tomorrow, we gather our people, march on Kyoto, and eliminate Hagoromo-Gitsune."

After making the decision, Rowan slept soundly that night.

Early the next morning, after breakfast, he visited the Type-Moon world and called over Cú Chulainn, Heracles, King Hassan, Medusa, and Heroic Spirit EMIYA.

When they heard they were going to fight a yokai plotting to exterminate humanity, everyone agreed without hesitation.

Afterward, Rowan brought the group to the Nura Clan.

Nurarihyon, Natsume, and Nyanko-sensei were eating breakfast when they suddenly saw Rowan walk in with a group of terrifyingly powerful monsters behind him.

Every one of them stared dumbfounded.

The entire Nura Clan erupted into chaos.

The pipe in Nurarihyon's mouth fell to the floor with a clatter. He thought the thing he feared most had finally happened and that this group intended to breach the Nura Clan from within.

But the next second, he froze when he heard Rowan say,

"I'm going to attack Hagoromo-Gitsune. Are you coming?"

"Huh?"

Nurarihyon looked completely dumbfounded.

Natsume asked curiously, "What happened, Lord Rowan?"

When they formed their alliance yesterday, he could tell that Rowan did not actually care much about Hagoromo-Gitsune and her group of yokai.

If Hagoromo-Gitsune's people came looking for trouble, Rowan would not mind capturing them.

But if Hagoromo-Gitsune left him alone, Rowan could not be bothered to seek her out.

Why had he suddenly changed his mind today, acting so unusually proactive in seeking trouble with Hagoromo-Gitsune?

Could Hagoromo-Gitsune have done something to provoke him?

Rowan briefly explained his speculation from the previous day, leaving Natsume horrified.

What shocked Natsume even more was that Hagoromo-Gitsune was Abe no Seimei's mother, while the legendary great onmyoji himself was the true mastermind behind the plan to exterminate humanity.

If this news spread, the entirety of Japan would erupt.

In the present era, countless people worshiped Abe no Seimei. If they learned that their idol wanted to destroy humanity, the consequences were easy to imagine.

At the very least, Natsume felt as though one of his idols had been shattered.

Nurarihyon's gaze flickered as he considered whether Rowan's claims were true.

But he quickly reacted.

Whether Rowan's story was true or false, this was still an opportunity to defeat Hagoromo-Gitsune.

Judging from Rowan and the group standing behind him, none of them were ordinary. Every aura was unfathomably deep, and each one gave Nurarihyon a sense of heart-pounding terror that made his hair stand on end.

Without question, these people were no weaker than him.

Some might even be far stronger.

A group of powerhouses at this level traveling together to attack Hagoromo-Gitsune was practically using a warship to crush an ant. Nurarihyon genuinely could not imagine how Hagoromo-Gitsune could possibly survive.

Even if Abe no Seimei behind her dared to appear, he would probably be beaten to death on the spot.

It was indeed time to settle their grudge of several centuries.

"I'm going. Why wouldn't I? I'll gather my forces immediately and join you."

After confirming that their side possessed a one-hundred-percent chance of victory, Nurarihyon agreed without hesitation. He decided to personally lead his forces and deliver Hagoromo-Gitsune an enormous surprise.

Hopefully, she would not be too delighted.
