Chapter 1 - “Love by the Riverside”

Part 1....

That evening, the sky was strangely beautiful. Soft clouds drifted across, and the sunlight seemed as if it was waiting for someone.

Neel was sitting alone at his favorite place by the riverside. There was a silence in the air, as if something was about to happen.

And then, he saw her.

A girl in a white salwar kameez, her hair left open, and a strange calmness in her eyes. She slowly walked over and sat beside Neel. For a moment, both of them stayed silent—only the sound of the river and the gentle wind filled the space between them.

Suddenly, the girl spoke.

"Do you come here often?"

Neel was slightly startled, then smiled.

"Yes… whenever my heart feels lonely."

She gave a soft smile.

"Mine too…"

From that small conversation began an unusual connection. He learned her name—Maya.

They didn't talk much that day, but the silent language in their eyes spoke deeper than words ever could. At the time of leaving, Maya simply asked,

"Will you come again tomorrow?"

Neel just nodded in agreement.

And from that day onward, Neel realized something in his life had started to change…

Part 2...

The next afternoon, as soon as the day began to fade into evening, Neel's heart became restless. It felt as if something would remain incomplete if he didn't go to the riverside. Just like the previous day, he returned to the same place and sat down. The surroundings were the same—the same wind, the same sound of the river—but today, everything felt slightly different.

He kept looking down the path again and again. Would Maya come? Or was it just a one-time meeting?

And then, from a distance, he saw that familiar white figure. Maya was coming—slowly, calmly, just like before. A smile unknowingly appeared on Neel's face.

Maya sat beside him and said, "You really came!"

Neel smiled and replied, "You were the one who told me to come…"

They both laughed softly. Then came the silence again—but this time, it was not uncomfortable. It felt peaceful, comforting.

Maya looked at the river and said, "You know, I don't usually talk to anyone like this…"

Neel paused for a moment and said, "Me neither…"

They didn't talk much that day, but every moment seemed to bring them closer to each other.

At the time of leaving, Maya hesitated a little and asked, "Will you come again tomorrow?"

This time, Neel replied with quiet confidence, "I will…"
