Chapter 127 - The Divine Test has been updated

Kong Mingan felt a long-lost surge of interest.

Because of the "spiritual pivot," many of his research projects could be directly handed over to the "spiritual pivot" for deduction, leaving him only responsible for the final summary and optimization.

This had left him quite idle recently, but now, this discovery had once again piqued his interest.

Miss Meng, standing nearby, looked at Kong Mingan's eyes and unconsciously let out a soft sigh.

She knew that her childhood sweetheart would probably be "holed up" in the laboratory for a while again.

And just as Miss Meng had guessed, Kong Mingan quickly entered a state of deep research.

And this research lasted for a full three months... Sun Moon Empire, Capital City.

It was still the same laboratory located within the Kong Family Chamber of Commerce.

As the last trace of Energy vanished from his fingertips and merged into the body of the young girl who had been asleep in the testing capsule for three full months, Kong Mingan finally let out a breath of relief.

Casually instructing the "spiritual pivot" to record and check the recent data, Kong Mingan leaned back, sinking heavily into the soft laboratory chair, as if all the strength had been drained from his body.

Three months of non-stop, high-intensity mental focus and Energy manipulation—although the entire research process went smoothly, requiring almost no wasted effort—

at this moment, the instant he closed his eyes, a weariness seemingly originating from the depths of his Soul surged over him like a tide, threatening to drown his consciousness.

This time, he really got carried away with the research.

He remained leaning against the back of the chair, seemingly lacking the strength even to move to the resting area; his heavy eyelids slowly closed, and his consciousness rapidly sank into a deep, dreamless sleep amidst the extreme exhaustion.

After an unknown period, he slowly awoke amidst warmth and a faint, subtle fragrance.

The scent was elegant and familiar, carrying a hint of elusive sweetness that unconsciously relaxed his taut nerves.

Opening his eyes, he saw the familiar ceiling above, but the angle was strange; he could only see about a third of it.

He moved slightly and realized he was resting his head on something soft.

When he shifted his gaze, he met Meng Hongchen's eyes, which were filled with a gentle smile.

It turned out he was lying on the sofa, his head resting on her lap.

"How long did I sleep?" His voice was still hoarse from just waking up.

Meng Hongchen looked down at him, gently brushing a stray lock of black hair from his forehead with her fingertip. She said softly, "Not long, only about ten hours."

Kong Mingan softly "Mm'd" and slowly propped himself up into a sitting position.

The intense exhaustion had faded, replaced by the refreshing clarity that followed deep sleep.

Subconsciously, he looked around, only to find that he and Meng Hongchen were the only ones in the laboratory.

"Where is the Ice Empress?" he asked involuntarily.

Meng Hongchen's expression remained unchanged, and she replied calmly, "Oh, Senior Ice Empress? She said a few days ago that it was too boring here, so she went to find SeniorSnow Empress."

She naturally wouldn't mention that for the past three months, she had stayed virtually inseparable from Kong Mingan, occasionally wiping his face, straightening his collar, and proactively offering herself as a cushion when he was extremely exhausted.

These small acts of intimacy had clearly been a huge eyesore for a certain irritable scorpion, who finally decided that out of sight was out of mind, and stomped off in a huff.

Although Meng Hongchen maintained a composed exterior, a small, private feeling of triumph and relief inevitably flashed in her heart.

It's not like she doesn't get jealous, you know.

Pausing briefly, Miss Meng steered the conversation back to business: "Did the research go smoothly?"

Mentioning the research brought Kong Mingan back to attention; he nodded slightly, his tone relaxed: "Extremely smoothly."

He thought for a moment but decided against a direct explanation, slowly rising from the sofa.

Stretching his somewhat stiff neck, Kong Mingan gave a slight smile, extended his hand, and softly invited Miss Meng:

"We've been cooped up here for three months. Shall we go out for some fresh air?"

Hearing this, Meng Hongchen's eyes flickered, but she immediately took Kong Mingan's hand. "You said it yourself, remember?"

"Of course."

Kong Mingan smiled.

Without further delay, his mind stirred slightly, and silver spatial runes appeared beneath the huge testing capsule containing the sleeping Wang Donger. Simultaneously, he reached out and gently wrapped his arm around Meng Hongchen's waist.

The next moment, a silver-gray spatial gateway silently unfolded before them, and the gateway then moved forward, swallowing Kong Mingan, Meng Hongchen, and the nearby testing capsule entirely.

With that, the laboratory fell silent once more... On the other side, Shrek Academy, Outer Court training ground.

It was now two or three in the afternoon; according to the normal curriculum of Shrek Academy, mornings were for classes, and afternoons were for students to arrange themselves.

However, at this moment, a young boy on the training ground was running laboriously, step by step, on the circular track, bearing a heavy burden far exceeding that of an ordinary person, gritting his teeth.

Sweat had long since soaked the boy's clothes, leaving intermittent dark trails behind him.

His ordinary face appeared fierce and distorted due to extreme exhaustion and a certain suppressed rage.

It was Tang San.

For Tang San, these three months of freshman life had been sheer torment.

Due to the conflict he had upon entering the academy with Dai Huabin, and the Clear Sky HammerSpirit and spirit rings exceeding the standard Spirit Master configuration that he displayed, he successfully attracted the "special attention" of his homeroom teacher, Zhou Yi.

Initially, Zhou Yi's rigorous, results-only, and unforgiving style even made him momentarily believe he had encountered a strict teacher like his former mentor, Yu Xiaogang, who believed that "There are no useless Spirits, only useless Spirit Masters."

Especially when she first made them run laps, it gave him a familiar, deeply missed feeling from the depths of his memory.

However, later that same day, after Zhou Yi was confronted by several teachers leading teams, everything changed.

That old hag seemed to go mad, starting frantic extra training and directly expelling every student who couldn't endure it.

In just one short week, the entire Class One was left with fewer than ten students!

As for him, the most talented student in Class One, Zhou Yi's standards for him were almost cruel.

His physical training was often several times that of others, euphemistically called "potential excavation," and failure to complete it was met with threats of expulsion.

Just like now, he was running laps frantically on this training ground, carrying heavy metal blocks four times the standard load, all because of one sentence Zhou Yi had tossed out:

"If you don't win the freshman assessment, you can get out of Shrek!"

"That old hag... she truly courts death!"

Tang San cursed wildly in his heart, but his lungs heaved violently like bellows, and every breath brought a searing pain.

He clenched his teeth tightly, draining the last bit of strength from his body, trying to complete this inhuman training, knowing that failure would only lead to even more terrifying exercises.

However, just as his consciousness began to blur from lack of oxygen—

A cold, authoritative voice descended without warning, deep within his Soul:
