Chapter 21 - 21 The Elevator

The academy had just installed a new, high-speed elevator. It was sleek, modern, and strictly reserved for Elite students and teachers. Commoners were supposed to take the stairs.

Anthony stepped into the empty elevator car, pressing the button for the top floor library.

"Hey! Hey you! Stop!"

Vance ran up, sliding into the doorway before it closed. He blocked the entrance with his bulky frame.

"This elevator is for Elites only!" Vance sneered, looking Anthony up and down. "This car has a weight limit. And you... well, you look heavy with attitude. Get out and take the stairs, peasant. You might break it."

Anthony looked at the weight limit sign posted inside. "It says maximum capacity 1000kg. I weigh approximately 45kg. You, on the other hand, with that inflated ego and muscle mass, probably weigh close to 120kg. Statistically speaking, you are the hazard here."

"I am a Warrior!" Vance pushed past Anthony and stood in the middle of the car. "I'll make this ride very uncomfortable for you."

Vance grinned. He activated his Physique Soul technique. He emitted a heavy pressure, trying to use his own energy field to crush Anthony down, making him feel weak and small.

The elevator doors closed. Ding.

Immediately, the elevator groaned loudly. The cables above creaked with stress. The lights flickered and dimmed.

WARNING! OVERLOAD! WARNING! WEIGHT EXCEEDS LIMIT!

The electronic alarm voice blared loudly.

"What?!" Vance looked around confused. "I'm only using ten percent power! Why is it screaming?!"

"Because I reflected your gravitational pressure back at you multiplied by ten," Anthony explained calmly, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. "The elevator thinks there is a small elephant standing inside it. You essentially crushed the car with your own pressure. Congratulations."

CLUNK.

The emergency brakes engaged violently. The elevator shuddered to a halt between the third and fourth floors. Total darkness fell.

"Great," Anthony said in the dark. "Now we are stuck. Thanks, Vance. Hope you have good stamina, because the ventilation is weak and we might be here for hours."

"I HATE YOU! I HATE YOU SO MUCH!" Vance screamed in the darkness, his voice echoing off the metal walls.
