Chapter 1 - System Link: Activate

A cool breeze drifted through an open window, causing Sora to wake up.

'Wait, we're in a hospital. There's no way a window should be open?' Sora thought.

As his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he noticed an older gentleman sitting down. The man was dressed in a black cloak with vibrant white edges that illuminated. He appeared to be sleeping.

Sora clicked the page button on his handheld remote, but the page didn't go through. 'Is my machine broken? Who is this man? Did he come to kill me?!'

"Ah! Sora, you're finally awake. I'm sorry if I startled you. I am Chronos, the god of Time," the man said.

"Wait, how can you see my facial expressions, I'm wrapped up in bandages like a freakin` mummy!"

No pain followed. Sora looked at Chronos in confusion.

"Chronos, are you here because I finally died?" Sora asked nervously.

"Yes, you passed away about ten minutes ago," Chronos said with a polite smile.

"However, after speaking with the gods, they agreed we are in dire need of assistance," Chronos said, calmly and deliberately.

"Ok, so what are you sending me to do?" Sora asked politely.

"You will be transmigrated to Exteria in the year 7439. You will be half god and half Uthra. You will have all SSS abilities," Chronos said with a smile.

"That's it?" Sora asked.

"No, I encourage you to start clearing dungeons, find party members you can trust, and make seals with them. Unfortunately, the gods have seen two outcomes: You save the world– or you destroy it." Chronos said matter-of-factly.

As soon as Sora said, "I'll do it," Chronos was gone.

'What the hell?'

His tablet started vibrating.

[Do you wish to initiate the link to your Chrono System? Yes/No].

Sora selected yes.

Pain like he never felt before rushed through his entire body, causing him to pass out.

******

[Good morning, Sora! You fell asleep during the link initiation process after you arrived on Exteria. You successfully linked to your new Chrono system. Please ask me if you have any questions.]

Sora jumped out of bed and saw a mirror. He couldn't believe his eyes.

'I'm very tall, and buff? That's definitely not the person I remember from Earth. The only thing I can recognize is my blonde hair.'

'Hey system, what's with my amethyst right eye and aquamarine left one? I don't think I've ever seen anyone with either of those eye colors, is that something unique to this time and planet, me or?' Sora thought, eagerly awaiting an answer.

[Error. You need to level up before any information about eyes can be given.]

'Guess the thing isn't perfect.'

"System, please teach me about your interface and how best I can utilize you."

[Certainly. Name. Sora Lockheart. Age: 20. Date: March 28th, 7439. You are level 1 of ?]

'Ok, so it seems to be command based, like in the webnovels I read or like a simple RPG. I could get used to that.'

"System, what can I currently work toward unlocking?"

[Reach Level 5. Reward: Gain passive health regeneration. 1 HP per minute recovered when not receiving damage.

Create a party and add a party member: Reward: Unlock personalized sealing magic.

Clear a dungeon: 10,000 experience points.

Would you like to know more about leveling up and experience points?]

'Nice, it's starting to learn and adapt to my thoughts, this is good,' Sora thought.

"No, I'm fine for now. I think I get it."

[Feel free to ask at any time.]

"Hey system, am I ready for battle? If so, where's the nearest dungeon?"

[You are ready for battle. I can assist you as well. The nearest dungeon is the Abyss, about 5 miles Northwest of your mansion. Placing the best route on your internal GPS now. Completed. Please follow the green line, shown on your map in your system's mainframe to reach the dungeon.]

"Thank you system."

[No need to thank me, Sora. I'm just doing what I was designed to do.]

*****

After working with his system, Sora loaded up his dimensional void with SS rank armor, two swords, an axe, boots, gauntlets, and per the system's advice, he wore a white kabuki mask with a Yin and Yang symbol on it.

As Sora stepped out of his mansion, he noticed the sheer size of his mansion and laughed.

A warm breeze caused his angelic white cloak to blow with the wind.

He started sprinting.

Sora never felt so free. He felt so fast and the world around him seemed to be moving in slow motion. He noticed some insects floating around. They reminded him of lightning bugs back home, only they were much larger. Their tails flickered different colors, not just that beautiful golden one Lightning Bugs showed on Earth.

Eventually, Sora arrived at the dungeon, which was easy for him to track inside his head.

'That would definitely take some getting used to.'

"System, can I inspect or analyze things?"

[Indeed. Analyzing the dungeon now.

Dungeon: The Abyss

Rank: A-tier

Floors: 55

Boss Floors: 10, 15, 25, 35, 45, 55.

Retreatability: Allowed

Current people in the dungeon: 4.]

"Wait, what do you mean there are 4 people in the dungeon now and what do you mean about it being able to be retreated from?"

[There is currently a party of four somewhere in the dungeon. I cannot pinpoint which floor. There will often be other travelers in dungeons, trying to clear them for the rewards. Also, in some dungeons, once you enter, you cannot leave until you clear the dungeon or die.]

'Well, that's not creepy at all.'

Sora threw caution to the wind and pressed his hand against the giant door.

An eerie, large door swung opened slowly, causing the torches to light the stairwell going down into the depths of Exteria.

With the help of his system, Sora equipped two claymores and began fighting some gnome creatures on the first floor. Although they rushed him, he was able to side step them and shatter them with his swords.

Sora just kept flying through each floor. With his system's help, his body knew what to do and how to react. On floor 9, he began fighting some weird fishmen, with large eyes, and weird fishing-pole type weapons.

After finishing about 20 of those with a combination of his fire magic and his claymores, he took a deep breath. He eagerly walked through the exit and noticed the next door was much larger.

A giant number 10 appeared on it.

Sora's smile grew wide. 'Boss floor. Let's see what this body can do!'
