On a specially lightless night of a total lunar eclipse, a rather unremarkble youth stepped foot into a forlorn, empty graveyard with heavy steps…
Every step the young man took carried with it the weight of something… something so unfathomabley deep… yet so sad… something so bottomless yet so melancholic… something so profound yet so fragile… something so deeply full of love yet so lonely and hopeless… so weak and brittle and… tired.
If someone were to be here… if someone were to see the young man… if someone with sharp eyes were to notice the unremarkble young man and the way he carried himself, they would likely think that… such a dead look should have no business being on the face of someone so young...
But of course no such person was there for such a thing to happen.
'Heh… like that'd happen fool! no one's gonna even notice let alone care...'
The man muttered self-deprecatingly as he took another step.
The unremarkble young man's features did not look like the type that people would usually go out of their way to call good or bad, but if he's appearance were to be described into words it would likely go with the likes of this…
A young looking youth with dark-midnight blue hair, his hair seems to be awkwardly kempt for the special occasion, his golden yellow eyes that lacked any luster was framed by dark circles of exuhastion under it.
His white skin was a little pale, and his height is a bit lower than average both seemingly from malnutrition and a deep lingering grief making his frail stature seem more pitiful.
He wore a simple formal black suit and held three flowers in his hand… his face was not very handsome nor very ugly, but if his appearance were to be nicely summed in three words it would likely be:
'not particularly memorable...'
-Step…Step …Step
The young man walked towards three particular graves silently, seemingly in deep thoughts yet… once he reached the three tombstones he was heading towards… his steps halted, and his gaze lingeried on every one of the three for a solid short yet so infinitely long ten seconds…
"I'm back…"
He sighed bitterly and closed his eyes briefly before opening them and forcing a small smile that didn't reach his eyes.
"Hi, mom… Dad... Luna… its me Rei... I'm here again did you miss me?"
He said softly, weakly… as if hoping for a reply but of course… he he was met with silence.
Sighing again he sat on the ground, ignoring how his attire might get dirty and placed two red flowers in front of his parents graves.
"I sure do miss you three…"
He said hoarsly ignoring the lump in his throat and the tears threatening to leave his eyes as he reminisced about the past… how could he cry? no of course he can't… he have to smile today!
It's not a day they would allow him to cry… he already did plenty of that for three damn years since his parents died...
"I think… i'm fine, well… I'm not sure but I'm trying to eat and be healthy… I'm even working and trying do self-study… I have a lot more time for myself now for better or worse... "
He looked at the two graves of his parents with a reassuring smile… as he remembered the day they left...
he somehow managed to survive after that right? even if it was only possible because he had to support Luna, only because he had to protect and help his sister… he still somehow managed until now…
He dropped out of school and started doing random jobs to earn their living he seriously worked really hard… day and night he did all sorts of jobs some were legal some were not…
He even had to steal sometimes, but he had somehow managed…for Luna…even if they were poor…even if the responsibility was crushing him… even if he abandoned his dreams he never complained.
but now? she's no longer here too...
His precious little sister… Luna died a month ago.
It was so unexpected so fast so cruel and random… he didn't even have a chance to help when she was hit by a car in an accident… he wasn't even there.
it's a common story
it wasn't some dramatic death like what happens in those tragic shows Luna liked to watch...
one day everything was normal and life seemd peaceful but… when he returned from his shift suddeny he got a call telling him his sister is dead.
It wasn't a particularly rare situation either.
A random bastard was riding his truck while drunk and he hit Luna...
And just like that she's dead.
The driver got arrested of course but…
So what? what is he supposed to do with all those heavy raging feelings in his chest?
Nothing.
He couldn't do anything.
In the end life is just like that and Rei couldn't do anything about it.
"I'm sorry i could only bring this for your birthday Luna..."
He said as he placed a broken blossom at her grave.
He had read in the internet that this flower is usually given to mourn those who die too early.
He usually wouldn't care about flowers but Luna loved these kind of things.
The flowers language.
He usually would think it's stupid.
It's useless.
It doesnt help anyone.
He'd think That it had no meaning.
But Luna?
Luna would say he doesn't get it.
That even if it's not usefull it still has meaning.
But he can't argue with her anymore now.
So even if he still didn't get it he brought this flower for her.
He wished it would make her a bit happy wherever she is now.
Sighing deeply again he decided to go back home as he stood up.
"I will come back... Promise. "
He said softly as his gaze lingeried a bit too long at Luna's grave before heading out...
Not knowing he will never get to keep that promise.

-Skreee… Skreee
The sound of closing the old door of his home grated as he intered the house…
The home was silent with no sound of anyone inside… like it had always been this past month.
'I might need to fix the door handle it's too old…'
He thought to himself as he headed to his room like usual.
"Well, I can do that later today i should just relax and have fun… i don't have work tomorrow after all."
He said in a forced cheerful tone as if trying to imitate what Luna would usually tell him when he get back home.
Then he sat on his bed checking his phone…
The time is 7:16 PM
There were some messages about work and some random things but nothing urgent.
"I will cheek those later..."
He gazed at the ceiling aimlessly for a couple of minutes trying to come up with something to do before his gaze caught a gaming console.
'Right… i used to play with Luna all day on that before they died…'
He hadn't touched it sense but Luna still played on it a lot so he couldn't get rid of it…
"come to think of it… wasn't she obsessed with that one game?"
What was it's name again?
She used to lose all the time and come for him crying and asking for help.
It's not that she was bad really... it was just that… the damn game was so hellishly hard.
He was pretty good… but even he died more times than he can count to win for her.
He didn't even know the story.
he just knew how to fight and make strategies to beat the bosses… maybe some names of some weapons but he didn't know anything about the characters.
He couldn't even believe it when his sister told him that this game was supposed to be mainly a romantic one.
Anyway… should he play it for a bit?
It would probably be fun… and Luna would like for him to do so…
Moreover it's her birthday.
"Alright let's play for a bit…"
----------------------------—-----------------—-
7 hours later…
[You died]
"DAMN YOU EXILED KING FUCKING DIE ALREADY!!"
He shouted in anger as he died for the 100th time for the same boss again and dropped the controller.
Groaning he cheeked his phone feeling hungary for some reason.
The time is 2:20 AM
"What…?"
He cheeked the time again to be sure.
2:20 AM
It didn't change obviously.
"I've been playing for 7 Hours?! I didnt even finish the tutorial!"
As he sighed resigned to the fact that he can't beat the tutorial today his stomach growled.
"Right… i didn't eat anything."
he went to check the fridge.
"Nothing."
He sighed again… he has been Sighing quite a lot lately.
"How troublesome."
He decided to go buy himself something to eat.
-Skreee… Skreee
The old door closed as he he headed towards the nearest shop.
-Click
The shop's door closed with a satisfying click as he intered.
'Lucky bastards… should i try to buy a new door later?'
He thought to himself quietly as he headed towards a shelf full of noodles.
'Should i pick a spicy one?'
His eye skimed through the shelf as he thought about his choices.
'Wait there is even a cheese flavor one?! how weird! what kind of idiot would buy that?'
He bought the cheese flavored one...
Then he saw a chips with the flavor of noodles.
Yeah.
seriously only idiots would buy such a thing...
He bought that one too.
Then as he went to pay for his chips and noodles his gaze caught something weird through the window.
His lightless dead eyes lingeried there for a bit…
His gaze was intense.
Then...
"Sir…?"
The shop owner asked slightly worried.
"Huh? oh nothing sorry i zoned out for a second… i will buy this."
thinking nothing of it the shop owner noded and handed him his chips and noodles after putting it in a plastic bag.
After paying for his purchase Rei headed out Then…
He felt it again.
Something… was watching him…
He felt his skin crawl at the weird sensation and his eyes darted towards the direction of the thing that gave him that feeling… Then…
The feeling vanished again.
'Weird…'
He rubbed his eyes.
"I guess that what gaming all day does to you…"
He said as if trying to convince himself that he was just imagining things.
Yet still… The ominous feeling remained.
-Step…Step…Step.
'Hah… it's probably nothing more importantly i should think of a way to defeat that damn boss!'
He mused to himself as he walked through the street.
Then…
A truck came out of nowhere and hit him.
'Huh?'
Rei tried to raise his head but his eyes was suddenly coverd with blood.
His forehead seems to have been hit with the ground after the collision.
He couldn't feel his legs.
No that was not it…
he felt his legs… it was just that they hurt too much that he wished that he couldn't feel them.
It hurt.
IT HURT!
IT HURT! IT HURT! IT HURT! IT HURT!
The cold feeling of the road bavment was stuck to his cheek.
Even the damned chips and noodles was crushed next to him…
For a split second he considered how morbidly funny it is…
But that thought shattered immediately with another wave of endless pain.
His blood was flowing without any sings of stopping.
His blood felt hot…
It was burning so much it was unbearable...
his heart was thumbing wildly.
The sound of it was maddining…
He started feeling cold…
It's so cold.
so damn cold.
He felt like he was dying...
No he was dying.
He barely managed to hear the sound of the truck car's door opening and the panicked shouts of someone.
Managaed to raise his head finally…
He wished he didn't.
Because he saw the face of the same damn bastard that killed his sister.
The funny part is that he doesn't even feel angry…
"Ha…Ha…HAHAHHAHHha…ha…ha…"
He found it funny… how fate have proven to exist in such an ironic way to him.
And that wasn't the only unbelievable thing that was proven to him...
There was a saying he thought about.
He didn't remember the details but the jest of it is saying something about how you would see your life run through your eyes before death…
It's true.
He saw it.
his life…
so fast.
so wretched.
full of lies and false hope.
and he wished he didn't see it.
because now he feels so damn full of regret.
Truly what a wretched life he got...
to die like this… in a random street …hit by a truck and by the same bastard who killed his sister no less...
Rei gazed at the lightless moon one last time and wished for something.
'I wish… I wish I had another chance.'
And so just like that…
Truly like the Inconsequential wretch he is.
on a random street in a lightless night.
in the day of his deceased sister's birthday…
to never be remembered or missed by anyone.
full of bitter rage and regret…
Rei died.
